Abstract

The community service program "SERITA: Happy Library School" was carried out at SDN 1 Mesanggok, Lombok, aiming to address challenges in students' literacy. Although awareness of literacy in West Nusa Tenggara continues to grow, obstacles still persist, such as low reading interest, limited reading materials, and unattractive facilities. Through the Student Creativity Program (PKM) of the University of Mataram, the SERITA program introduced a colorful reading corner designed to stimulate students’ interest in reading. The program engaged students, teachers, parents, and the community in creating a sustainable culture of literacy. The results showed an increase in students’ interest in reading, particularly in fiction books, with additional benefits including social interaction and the development of creativity. Ongoing collaboration between schools and the community is recommended for the long-term success of this literacy initiative.

Abstract

The results of a preliminary study conducted through a survey of 104 respondents showed that the majority of them (90.4%) had never developed comic-based media. This was due to difficulties in writing the story script (26%), creating character illustrations (74%), and combining story writing with illustration (12%). A total of 65% encountered obstacles in scriptwriting, 35% faced difficulties in drawing, and 10% experienced challenges in both areas. Therefore, we organized an activity entitled “Workshop on the Development of Comic-Based Learning Media Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Prospective Primary School Teachers.” The methods applied in this activity included a combination of lectures, Q&A sessions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in developing AI-based comic media. The goal of this community service activity was to improve the knowledge and skills of prospective primary school teachers in developing AI-based comic learning media. The workshop, held on July 20, 2024, was carried out smoothly. The participants consisted of 23 students from the PGMI Program at UIN Mataram, with 65.2% female and 34.8% male. Based on their academic year, 13.04% were first-year students, 30.43% were second-year students, and 56.52% were third-year students. The workshop, conducted through presentations and demonstrations, successfully enhanced participants' knowledge and skills in developing AI-based comic learning media.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the understanding of Mitra Elementary School teachers in Mataram City regarding the concept and application of the Multiple Intelligences approach in the learning process. Multiple intelligences developed by Howard Gardner emphasizes that each individual has various types of unique intelligences and can be optimally developed through appropriate learning strategies. However, the use of this approach is still limited in elementary school environments, especially in the planning and implementation of learning that is centered on student potential. Through this socialization activity, teachers are given an understanding of the eight types of multiple intelligences, their characteristics, and learning strategies that are appropriate for each intelligence. The method of implementing the activity is in the form of lectures, interactive discussions, and simple case studies. The evaluation results show that this activity has succeeded in increasing participants' insight into the diversity of student potential and the importance of differentiation of learning strategies. It is hoped that this activity will be the first step for teachers to be more adaptive and innovative in developing inclusive learning that is oriented towards the uniqueness of each student.

Abstract

Slow learner students experience many delays in the learning process because slow learners are a condition where children experience slow learning, skill, slowness in receiving information and slowness in capturing the teacher's explanations during the learning process. This research aims to determine the learning strategies of slow learner students in elementary schools by using a literature review method, namely by reading various journals and other publications related to research topics by collecting and taking core points from previous research. There were 15 articles used in this research obtained from Google Scholar. Based on the results of research conducted using the literature review method, learning strategies for slow learner students in elementary schools can be carried out by providing assistance or services to students in the form of; teaching method accommodation services, assignment and research accommodation services, time demands, learning environment and motivation for students to increase their interest in learning. So it can be concluded that learning strategies for slow learner students include; 1). Teacher strategies in classroom management with specifications and qualifications for changes in students' behavior and personality. 2). The teacher's strategy in treating slow learner students in regular classes is by placing slow learner students in the front row, rotating them by paying attention to the students' condition 3). Abstract

Blended learning is a learning model that integrates online and face-to-face learning to create a flexible and interactive learning experience. This article examines the application of blended learning in science education through the descriptive content analysis study method. This method describes the findings of various relevant scientific articles, analyzes the relationship between these findings, and identifies the principles of the blended learning model. Data were obtained from articles published in national and international journals, then identified, described, and analyzed to provide an in-depth picture of the implementation of blended learning in science learning in elementary schools. The literature review results show that blended learning can improve students' conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, and learning motivation in science learning. Combining online learning through virtual simulations and digital experiments with face-to-face learning enriches students' learning experiences. However, the success of implementing this model depends on the readiness of infrastructure, teacher skills, and balanced learning design. This article concludes that blended learning has great potential to improve the quality of science learning in elementary schools, provided that existing challenges can be overcome.
