Abstract

This research paper entitles “The Syntax Analysis of Adverb of Manner Found in the Novel “Hungry for You”. This research study analyzes the form of adverb of manner and its positions of adverb of manner found in the clause and sentence structure. This research study used the theory that was proposed by Brown and Miller (1991) and it was supported by other theories in analyzing the form and the position in adverb of manner found in the sentence structure. The method that was used to get the data was qualitative method in library research. The data were taken from the novel entitled “Hungry for You” that was written by Lynsay Sands. The result of the research suggests that there were one form of adverb of manner found in the novel entitled “Hungry for You”. They were adverb of manner that could be filled in the sentence structure in the form of adverb of manner and prepositional phrase. Suffix –ly was added to the positive form of the adjective. The form of adverb of manner can be in the prepositional phrase which was characterized by a preposition as the head of adverbial.

Abstract

Pelatihan Bahasa Inggris ini diselenggarakan di kampus jurusan keperawatan yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris mahasiswa khususnya bahasa Inggris IELTS. Penguasaan Bahasa Inggris IELTS memiliki peranan yang sangat penting karena sertifikat IELTS bisa digunakan untuk melanjutkan kuliah di jenjang yang lebih tinggi di luar negeri. Perguruan tinggi luar negeri yang mensyaratkan IELTS dalam penerimaan mahasiswa baru. Pelatihan IELTS Bahasa Inggris ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman tentang Bahasa Inggris IELTS mahasiswa jurusan keperawatan. Adapun metode pembelajaran yang digunakan yaitu metode Communicative Language Teaching in Secondary Level yang digunakan dalam pelatihan Bahasa Inggris IELTS. Pelatihan IELTS Bahasa Inggris merupakan pelatihan yang diadakan berkat kerjasama antara Prodi Bahasa Inggris Universitas Bali Dwipa dan jurusan keperawatan. Pelatihan bahasa Inggris IELTS ini dilaksanakan secara luring sebelum pandemi untuk mendapatkan hasil kegiatan pembelajaran yang maksimal dan diharapkan bisa meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris peserta pengabmas. Para peserta pelatihan Bahasa Inggris IELTS ini nampak sangat antusias dan aktif untuk mengikuti pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris TOEFL yang meliputi listening, speaking, writing, dan reading. Peserta pengabmas diberikan beberapa topik pelatihan tentang pelatihan IELTS meliputi listening, speaking, writing, dan reading. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji fenomena KDRT di Denpasar, Bali berdasarkan peraturan perundang-undangan No. 23 Tahun 2004 tentang Penghapusan Kekerasan dalam Rumah Tangga (UU PKDRT) dan mengkaji faktor-faktor penyebab terjadinya KDRT di Denpasar, Bali. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian hukum normatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan perundang-undangan dan sosiologis, dan analisis kasus-kasus KDRT yang terjadi di wilayah Denpasar. Di Denpasar, terdapat lembaga terkait seperti Pusat Pelayanan Terpadu Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Anak (P2TP2A). Aparat penegak hukum telah berupaya memberikan perlindungan dan layanan kepada korban kekerasan dalam rumah tangga tetapi keterbatasan sumber daya menjadi hambatan utama. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun UU PKDRT telah memberikan landasan hukum yang kuat untuk melindungi korban dan menghukum pelaku, implementasinya masih menghadapi berbagai tantangan. Beberapa di antaranya yaitu kurangnya pemahaman masyarakat tentang hak-hak korban, rendahnya pelaporan kasus dan kendala dalam penegakan hukum karena pengaruh budaya patriarki yang masih kuat. Selain itu, pendekatan berbasis adat dan mediasi sering digunakan, yang tidak sejalan dengan prinsip keadilan dalam hukum nasional. Penanganan KDRT memerlukan sinergi antara penegakan hukum, edukasi masyarakat, dan pemberdayaan korban.

Abstract

This research focuses on code mixing found in the femina magazine. The objective of this research was to find out the types and levels of code mixing found in the femina magazine. Intra-sentential code mixing is called as the appearance of a phrase, clause, or a sentence boundary in the utterance of someone This research applied descriptive qualitative methodand the human research is the main instrument of this research. In method of collecting the data, this research applied documentation method. This study applied content analysis that focused on analyzing the types of code mixing which defined by Hoffman and the levels of code mixing that argued by Suwito. Intra sentential code mixing in the form of word and phrase are found in the data source. There were 9 data of intra sentential code mixing in the form of word found in the data source. And there were 9 data of intra sentential code mixing in the form of phrases that were found in the data source.

Abstract

This study analyses the forms and positions of adverbs of manner found in the novel Harry Potter. It aims to identify how adverbs of manner function within clause and sentence structures. The analysis is based on the theory proposed by Brown and Miller (1991), supported by other relevant linguistic theories. A qualitative method was applied through library research, with data taken directly from the novel. The findings reveal two primary forms of adverbs of manner: those formed by adding the suffix –ly to adjectives and those structured as prepositional phrases. These adverbs typically occupy various positions within sentences, often characterized by their syntactic flexibility. The study concludes that adverbs of manner in Harry Potter are predominantly formed through morphological and phrasal processes, serving diverse syntactic roles. The findings reveal two primary forms of adverbs of manner: those formed by adding the suffix –ly to adjectives and those structured as prepositional phrases. Abstract

The abstract of the article should be well-written and include at least the following five essential things to enable the reader to grasp what the study is about: The hotel employeees’ conversations were used in the research. Within those conversations, there were several of Code Mixing types applied. They were also applied in the daily working conversations at The Shacks Hotel. The Code Mixing types were analyzed to find out their types and functions. The research method applied in the research was qualitative method. The data were analyzed based on the Code Mixing theory proposed by Jendra (Khusaini, 2019: 120) stated that code mixing is divided into three types, namely word-form code mixing, phrase-form code mixing and clause-form code mixing. The analysis was grounded in Jendra's (Khusaini, 2019: 120) code-mixing theory, which categorizes code-mixing into three types: word-form, phrase-form, and clause-form. This research aims to understand the prevalence and purpose of these different code-mixing forms within the specific context of hotel employee interactions.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the use of figurative language in Emily Dickinson's poems through a theoretical study approach, providing new insights into the aesthetic richness and meaning of these classic literary works. The study analyzes various types of figurative language in Dickinson's poetry, specifically focusing on simile, metaphor, personification, paradox, and hyperbole. A qualitative research method is employed, with data collected from books and online sources related to literature and poetry. The researcher examines Dickinson’s poems by reading, identifying, understanding, and drawing conclusions about the use of figurative language. The findings indicate that figurative language in Dickinson’s poetry plays a crucial role in engaging readers, prompting them to think and imagine deeply. Additionally, the historical context and biography of the poet offer valuable insights into how literary works reflect and respond to both social and personal circumstances. The study also recommends conducting comparative research between Dickinson’s poetry and that of other female poets from the same period or those with similar literary styles. These recommendations aim to guide students, researchers, and academic institutions in studying literature, particularly in understanding how language is used to convey ideas and create a distinctive literary experience for readers.

Abstract

This research is aimed to answer two problems of the stud, they are: (1) To find out the types of figurative language used in the “25” album sang by Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, (2) To describe the meanings of figurative language in “25” album sang by Adele Laurie Blue Adkins. The researcher used the theory from Knickerbocker and Reninger (1963) to find out types of figurative language and the theory from Leech (1974) to analyze the meaning of figurative language. This study was used qualitative descriptive method to find out types of figurative language and the meaning of figurative language in “25” album song lyrics. The result of this research there are 5 types of figurative language found in “25” album song lyrics. There are simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, and paradox. Based on the data there are 23 lyrics that contains figurative language. The researcher found simile with total data 5, metaphor with total data 3, personification with total data 4, hyperbole with total data 10, and paradox with total data 1. This research also aimed at analyzing the meanings of figurative language in “25” album sang by Adele Laurie Blue Adkins. There are 2 types of meaning found in “25” album song lyrics. They are connotative meaning and affective meaning.

Abstract

Pelatihan Bahasa Inggris dasar yang dilaksanakan di wilayah Banjar Babakan Canggu Badung ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris dasar bagi warga Banjar Babakan Canggu. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan berkat Kerjasama antara Prodi Bahasa Inggris, Universitas Bali Dwipa dan masyarakat sekitar di Banjar Babakan Canggu Badung Bali. Pelatihan Bahasa Inggris dasar ini dilaksanakan selama 4 bulan di wilayah Br. Babakan Canggu, Kuta Utara, Badung Bali. Di dalam proses pembelajaran tersebut, metode persuasive merupakan metode pembelajaran yang digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan berdasarkan observasi yaitu dengan mengamati fenomena yang terjadi di lapangan ketika proses pembelajaran dilaksanakan. Bentuk pelatihan yang diiberikan yaitu pelatihan bahasa Inggris dasar yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan peserta pengabmas.Semua peserta pelatihan Bahasa Inggris dasar ini nampak sangat antusias di dalam mengikuti pelatihan Bahasa Inggris dasar ini yang dilaksanakan dengan berkerja sama dengan lembaga Bahasa Inggris Konsultan Bahasa. Kemampuan Bahasa Inggris para peserta pengabmas meningkat dilihat dari kemampuan berbicara dalam Bahasa Inggris setelah pelatihan Bahasa Inggris dasar ini. Dalam memeriksa, kehadiran peserta pengabmas, pengajar menggunakan Google form untuk memastikan peserta pengabmas sudah mengikuti sesi kelas hari ini.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the types of figurative language found in David Campbell’s poem “Night Sowing” and their translation “Menyemai di Malam Hari” and to find out the meanings of the figurative language found in David Campbell’s poem “Night Sowing” and their translation “Menyemai di Malam Hari”. This study used the theory proposed by Larson (1998:121). In collecting data, this study used the library research method, and the data were collected in some steps to obtain appropriate and sufficient data. The steps in getting the data of this writing were done by reading attentively and accurately with the focus on the figurative languages in the poem. The result of study revealed that metonymy, idiom and personification are the types of figurative languages found in the data source. In translating the idiomatic expression, it needs the proper strategy so that the meaning in the source language can still be maintained.
