Abstract

This research objective is to explain the increment of Saudi Arabia’s FDI inflows in 2017-2019 amidst the involvement in human rights abuse. As it is known, Saudi Arabia has bad reputations on human rights. Saudi involvement on human rights abuse in 2017-2018 has provoked the international community and threaten the reputation of Saudi on foreign investment. But these do not make the Saudi’s FDI inflows showed a significant decrease. This research uses explanative qualitative as the research method. The framework of this research is using Foreign Policy and Human rights and also The Bottleneck Effect and The Social Risk on FDI. The research showed an answer that Saudi’s involvement in human rights abuse does not affect the FDI inflows because Saudi has been working on planning to attract the foreign investment with their foreign policy and KSA Vision 2030. Abstract

Bhutan is a small landlocked developing country which is located in the South Asia region. Bhutan relies on ecotourism policies which applies High Value Low Volume principle and forms International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) as a forum for international cooperation. This research used qualitative descriptive methods to analyze the issues. This issue discussed by answering question to how Bhutan uses ICIMOD as an agenda setting to achieve its national interests related to ecotourism. The data in this research were analyzed through power in international organizations from the perspective of defensive realism that focuses on agenda setting in international relations. This research also describes how Bhutan uses ICIMOD as a forum for achieving Bhutan's interests in the field of ecotourism and as one of Bhutan's national security projections that have a positive impact on Bhutan's development. Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries that is focusing on developing its digital economy potencies. Currently, Indonesia is the country with the largest internet economy in Southeast Asia due to the intense digital business development that has been carried out since 2016. In addition, Indonesia is also supported by quite capable digital potential. The initiative to collaborate with Saudi Arabia through digital economic cooperation agreements also opens up more opportunities for Indonesia as Asia's Digital Energy in 2020. However, the impact of the development of the digital economy also brings its own challenges that must be faced by the Indonesian government and also for the Indonesian people. This scientific research aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges for Indonesia in the digital economic cooperation with Saudi Arabia in 2019 by using qualitative explanatory method. Abstract

This research aims to analyze the endeavors made by (CCC) in helping pt Jaba Garmindo's labor demands against Uniqlo in 2015-2020. This.research.is.qualitative.descriptive.research using.the concept.of.human rights and transnational social movements. Data is obtained from various scientific journals, books, news, and articles related to the object being considered. The findings show that the efforts made by the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) are campaigning for changes in working conditions to be more humanist for workers in the fast fashion industry by voicing various human rights infringements that afflict workers on the international scene. In taking action Uniqlo will join many other global brands including H&M, Nike, Adidas, and Walmart that have legally taken over responsibility and provided workers with unpaid severance after bankruptcy and factory closures. Abstract

Thailand is one of the countries that has promoted its country as a gay paradise country. Unfortuntely, this LGBT-friendly image is not what that image depicts. LGBT people in Thailand often experience acts of inequality and even discrimination by their surrounding peoples. The ILO is trying to take on its role as an international organization in helping LGBT people in Thailand to get the rights they deserve. Therefore, this study aims to explain the roles of ILO in efforting equal rights for LGBT people in Thailand through the PRIDE project conducted in 2012-2015. By using the concepts of the Role of International Organizations and Human Rights, the researcher found that ILO taking three roles with pre-determined standards, and used it as a basis for evaluating the Thai government through the collaboration that has been carried out with the actors involved. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the rationalization behind the decision to implement an indirect approach in dealing with the problem of terrorism in the Philippines by the United States. The policy, which was later referred to as Operation Enduring Freedom, is an operation to deal with the threat of terrorism by the Abu Sayyaf Group which is connected to the global terror network after the 911 attack which was carried out with an indirect approach through military-civilian operations, economic assistance, educational assistance, health assistance, and infrastructure assistance to hinder the operations of the Abu Sayyaf Group. This study uses an explanatory qualitative method with data collected through literature study. The conceptual framework used in this research is the concept of rational actor. Abstract

During the reign of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s Government more focused on the use of ancient Indian culture as a tool of cultural diplomacy. Yoga is one of cultures used as a tool of Indian cultural diplomacy to various countries in the world. The values of peace and harmony and the many benefits for each individual contained in Yoga made the Indian government realize the potential of Yoga as a tool to embody India’s national interest. Indonesia is one of India’s destination countries for Yoga diplomacy. Indian Yoga diplomacy in Indonesia certainly has an interest in it. This research uses the framework of cultural diplomacy and national interests at soft power to answer the interests of India in performing cultural diplomacy through Yoga in Indonesia in 2014-2019. This research then finds that India’s interests in Indonesia through Yoga diplomacy is economic interests especially in the tourism and commerce. Abstract

Representation of Indonesian Public Diplomacy Through Cultural Exchange as a Means of Cultural Cooperation in South Korea This research aims to describes how cultural exchange program as part of Indonesian public diplomacy to introduce Indonesian culture in South Korea by using qualitative method. Researcher uses two main concepts, which are bilateral cooperation and public diplomacy in order to answer the application of cultural exchange as part of public diplomacy instrument for Indonesian culture cooperation in South Korea. This research perceives that cultural exchange program can be used as cooperative relations between two countries through the public diplomacy which can be implented by the government and by the non-government actors. Abstract

Penggambaran transgender di media massa terkadang menimbulkan transphobia di masyarakat. Media seringkali lepas tanggung jawab terhadap penggambaran tentang transgender, sehingga masyarakat sebaiknya menuntut media untuk bertanggung jawab terhadap informasi yang disebarkan kepada masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan transgender dalam novel novel Calabai karya Pepi Al Bayqunie dan memberi gambaran dari sudut pandang yang berbeda mengenai transgender. Novel Calabai menceritakan Saidi, seorang transgender dalam petualangannya mencari jati diri hingga bisa menjadi bissu, pemimpin spiritual tertinggi masyarakat Bugis. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi teks. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis teks berupa analisis isi kualitatif dengan melihat teks pada novel yang merepresentasikan transgender. Temuan penelitian: keistimewaan seorang dengan dua gender dalam satu tubuh memberikan pandangan baru. Kaum yang dianggap “abnormal” dalam masyarakat ini mampu menjadi pemimpin keagamaan pada kelompok masyarakat tertentu. Transgender yang direpresentasikan dalam novel ini hanyalah Calabai, yaitu individu yang terlahir sebagai laki-laki namun memiliki pembawaan dan penampilan seperti perempuan. Tendensi negatif maupun positif terlihat pada penggunaan kata dan tanda baca dalam menyebut transgender. Ada tiga kata yang sering digunakan untuk menyebut transgender: banci, calabai, dan waria.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to highlight the power relations between transnational corporations and developing countries due to the application of the Flags of Convenience (FoC) system in the cruise tourism industry. The focus is to answer whether the FoC in global cruise tourism is a good opportunity or actually a system that exploits developing countries. This article uses literature review method by referring to the concept of power of transnational corporations as an analytical framework. This study found that the FoC system strengthens the position of non-state actors in the international system through its regulations and by achieving its business goals through its power over the country, particularly developing countries.
