Abstract

Abstract. The aim of the study is to describe the implementation of role playing which decrease the student's error, to describe the student's activities in implementation of role playing method and to describe reduction of the student's error in completing questions after the implementation of role playing method. The subject of the study is the students of VII A class at SMPN Sukowono. In addition, the research design that is used in this study is classroom action research. The data were collected by using observation, interview, achievement test and documentation. The percentage result of the student’s activity observation showed that 54.91% in the beginning learning activity and 71.23% in the end of student’s learning activity. Moreover, the percentage of teacher’s activity is 90% and 96.67%. Besides that, the percentage of the student’s error in completing questions showed that it decreased from 42, 43% to 29.14%. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the implementation of role playing method goes well, so it can help to decrease the student’s error in completing question of social arithmetic. Key Words : Role Playing, student’s error, sosial arithmetic.

Abstract

Abstract. Mathematical communication is the ability to reflect the understanding of mathematics in various forms whether it is oral, in the form of pictures, graphs and others. The indicators of mathematical communication ability used in this research are to understand the mathematical idea of the problem given in written and oral form, to change the given problem into visual form, to reveal the strategy in solving the problem, to solve the problem using the strategy, to interpret the mathematical information in the different math representation. This study aims to analyze the ability of mathematical communication in solving the problem of quadrilateral topic in terms of students’ emotional intelligence of VIII-D in SMP Negeri 1 Sumbermalang. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research with the subject of 6 students from VIII-D of SMP Negeri 1 Sumbermalang selected based on students' emotional intelligence. Methods of data collection in this study were questionnaires, written tests and oral tests. The results of analysis of student's mathematical communication ability based on emotional intelligence are found that students with higher emotional intelligence have better communication skill of math. Keywords: Mathematical communication, emotional intelligence, quadrilaterals.

Abstract

Coronary heart disease is a disease caused by accumulation of cholesterol that forms plaques on artery walls for a considerable period of time. Over time, this disease can cause the heart muscle to weaken, and cause complications such as heart failure. One of ways to treat coronary heart disease is the stent installation (rings) or commonly called angioplasty. Angioplasty aims to make the blood vessels narrow to open so that blood flow flows better. The emergence of mathematical modeling as a new science is one alternative to solve these problems. With mathematical modeling, practitioners can make a form of a formula that describes the state of blood flow in the coronary arteries according to actual conditions without ignoring important factors in the system. In this study a mathematical model was built based on the above problems to determine the effectiveness of stent installation or angioplasty in the process that occurs in coronary arteries. Abstract

Abstract. Sociomathematical norms is a rule applied when the process of interaction during the learning of mathematics takes place. Collaborative learning is a group learning where students of various variations in both ability and background work together to interact and learn together to improve the understanding of each member. This study aims to describe the implementation of learning mathematics implementation using collaborative learning model and describe sociomathematical norms in collaborative learning in linear equations one variable topic at VII-B of Junior High School 4 Jember. Indicator of sociomathematical norms in this research is elaborated based on mathematic communication ability and social skill of student in collaborative learning. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive research. The instrument of data collection used is learning tool which include RPP, LKS, observation sheet of learning implementation, observation sheet of sociomatic norms in collaboration activity, and interview guide. Based on the results of the study, 26 out of 35 study subjects had positive confidence categories (P1, P2, and P3) on collaborative activities and had an average percentage of sociomathematical norms, 22 very good students, 12 good students and 1 student were good enough. Keywords : Sociomathematical Norms, Collaborative Learning, Student's Belief, Math Communication, Social Skill.

Abstract

Abstract This reseach was conducted to describe students mathematical literacy in solving mathematical questions on the subject of number patterns based on multiple intelligences. The instruments used were questionnaires, math tests, and interviews. The research subjects were six students consisting of two students with verbal linguistic intelligence, two students with mathematical logical intelligence and two students with naturalist intelligence. The results of this study are that students with verbal linguistic intelligence fulfill all indicators on the components of the literacy thinking process and can write answers in easily understood languages. Students with mathematical logical intelligence fulfill all indicators on the components of the literacy thinking process but there are stepping steps in writing answers. Whereas students with naturalist intelligence do not fulfill one of the indicators on the components of the first literacy process, namely students do not write mathematical situations using symbols. Students with verbal linguistic intelligence, students with mathematical logical intelligence and students with naturalist intelligence have different strategies in solving problems. Students with verbal linguistic intelligence tend to use detailed translation, students with mathematical logical intelligence are able to use mathematical operations well and students with naturalist intelligence tend to use images to solve problems. Keywords: Thinking in mathematical literacy, multiple intelligence, questionnaire
