Abstract

Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) was a learning method in which the auditory skill was used. The students had to be able to listen, speak, present, give argument, and give response. Intellectually was that the students had to be able to use their mind set well to find and apply some problem solving related to their difficulties. Repetition was that the students had to do repetition or make an overview of their understanding and knowledge through quiz and final test. This training was aimed to solve the studens' problem in comprehending some questions aftes finished the lesson by using AIR method. This study used two sickles, in which, in every sickle consisted of planning, conducting, observation, and reflection. The method of collecting data was gotten through some attentive activities. These were observation, documdntation, interview, and test. Then, the data was analyzed by using descriptive qualitative an quantitative method. The result of this study shown the students' improvement, namely in the first sickle was 72,50% and the second sicle was 90%. The students' mistake mostly found in taking conckusion. The effective of AIR method in the fist sickle was 32,48% include in effective enough. Whereas in the second sickle, the effective achieved 26,92% include in effective. Thus, AIR learning method was mostly effective to reduce the students' mistake in answering mathematics questions in the lesson of function relation in SMP Islam Al-Mu'ien.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the profile of the students’ ability in solving mathematics problem in terms of personality according to David Keirsey which includes guardians, artisan, idealists, and rationales. The research subject is four students who are obtained from one student of each personality type in SMKN 2 Jember. MBTI questionnaire, problem-solving test, and interview are used as the data collection method. The analysis of problem-solving test and interview shows that in the stage of understanding and planning the settlement all students are able to fulfill this stage. In the stage of carrying out the plan, SG, SA, and SI students bring about the plan that is made before, while SR student tend to do it based on their remembering skill and it is not appropriated with the existing formula. In the stage of re-checking, only SA and SI students always recheck the steps of processing along with the obtained result. However, SG and SR students do not recheck their work. Besides, SA and SI students have more than one alternative solutions. Keywords: Polya Phases, Personlaity, MBTI

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research is to describe self efficacy profile to solve mathematics problems material system of linear equations of two variables in eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Jember. This research is a qualitative research and implemented in academic year 2016/2017. Documentary is used in this research as data collection because the researcher collecting data from UTS of student mathematics, test method, and interview method, while the instrument that being used is a mathematics problem test of system of linear equations of two variables (SPLDV) and interview guidelines. Subjects of this research are all eight grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Jember, consisting of 15 male students and 20 female students. The results showed that students' self efficacy is varied. Of the 35 students who are the subject of research, 28 students of whom have a high self-efficacy, while seven other students have a low self-efficacy. In viewing the students’ self efficacy, the researcher uses self efficacy dimension that is the dimension of level, generality, and strength. In dimension of level, almost all of students indicate an attempt to solve problem with different difficulty levels, although there are still 2 students who do not try to do certain problems but in other problems they are still trying to solve (do). In dimension of generality, the mastery of the students in fields be found in the questions also varies. However, most of them show wide field mastery because they are able to solve the given problem. In the strength dimension, the level of students' confidence in solving the problems and their expectations with the correct answers are also varied. Confidence and hope that is within the students mostly adapted to the attemp they do. Students are said to have a high self efficacy when showing the effort to solve problems with different levels of difficulty (level), mastery of the wide field of (generality), and strong confidence and hope that exist in students according to the efforts they do (strength). Abstract

Ethnomatematics is a mathematical consept contained in everyday life activities that have been entrenched. This research was condusted at Umah Batik Sayu Wiwit which is located at Jl. Sayuwiwit, Temanggungan, Kampung melayu, Banyuwangi. This study aims to describe ethnomatematics in batik artwork the typical Osing tribe of Banyuwangi on the concept of transformation geometry and make it as student’s worksheet theme. this type of research is qualitative research with ethnographic research. the collection method in this study was observed by 3 observers, interviews with 3 batik makers and documentation. The object of this research is Gajah oling motive, Kangkung Setingkes motive, Gedegan motive, Kopi Pecah motive, Sembruk Cacing motive and Paras Gempal motive. The results of data evaluation were analyzed descriptively. The results of this study prove the reflection consepts, translation concepts, rotation concepts and dilation concepts. Abstract

Ethnomatematics is a science used to understand how mathematics is adapted from a culture. The purpose of this study is to dig ethnomatematics on the making of batik tulis Kangkung Setingkes and create a student worksheet in accordance with the curriculum 2013. This type of research is qualitative with ethnographic approaches. The subject in this study amounted to seven people. Data Collection using observation methods, interviews, and documentation. Data collection results are analyzed descriptively. Based on the analysis of data from the observation and interviews, obtained ethnomatematics in the process of making batik in the Setingkes Kangkung. The meaning of Ethnomatematics is the concept of algebraic and geometric concepts. Algebraic concepts include counting, measuring, and masing and geometry concepts, such as point, line, angle, construction, congruation, and Geometry transformation (translation, rotation, reflection, dilation). Ethnomatematics in this study were made as student worksheets for class VII of comparative material and the XI class of geometry transformation material.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a valid, practical, and effective worksheets with SAVI approach and can improve students' mathematical representation skills on cylinder material. The method of this research was a Research and Development (R and D) through the development of 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Pace. The subjects of this research was 32 students of class IX. The results of the validation of the LKS with SAVI approach by the validator get an assessment of 3.8 after experiencing product revision. This shows that the LKS with SAVI approach that was developed is declared valid. The results of the analysis of the practicality of the LKS with SAVI approach were declared practical with the percentage of student response questionnaires of 85.03% and from the teacher's observation sheet of 87.5%. LKS with SAVI approach succeeded in increasing students' representation ability with a percentage increase of 90.625%. The result of the percentage of product completeness is 71.875% so it can be said that the LKS product with SAVI approach is an effective product. These results indicate that worksheets with SAVI approach are considered valid, practical, effective, and can improve mathematical representation skills.

Abstract

Abstrak. This research aims to (1) analyze the development process of mathematics learning media with discovery learning model by paying attention to cognitive load in trigonometry subject at tenth grade of vocational high school; (2) analyze the development result of mathematics learning media with discovery learning model by paying attention to cognitive load in trigonometry subject at tenth grade of vocational high school. Mathematics learning media that were development are Lesson Plan and students’ worksheet. This research took place at tenth grade KIA 2 of vocational high school 5 jember with consists 36 students. This research is development research. Process and result from development were (1)the development process of using modified thiagarajan model which consists of 3 stages; (2) development result were validation test from validation sheet analysis that scored 3,80 for Lesson plan validatiy coefficient and 3,83 for Student work sheets validatiy coefficient with valid category, practicality test from teacher’s activity analysis scored 89,74% for the first meeting and 94,87% for the second meeting with good category, and efectiveness test from students activity analysis, Learning Result Test and students’ questionnaire analysis with effective result. Result of this mathematics learning media development showed that discovery learning mathematics learning media by paying attention to cognitive load fulfilled validity, praticality, efectiveness so that it can be used well for learning. Abstract

This study to describe the understanding of students 'concepts on problem solving about the geometry of the quadrilateral subject matter in terms of the students' impulsive reflective cognitive style in SMP Negeri 7 Jember. The descriptions of this study were carried out by providing an overview of reflective cognitive-style students and students with impulsive cognitive styles. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, students with reflective cognitive style are able to understand the problem, plan the settlement, solve the problem, and correct it again. As for impulsive students not understanding the problem, unable to plan the settlement, unable to solve the problem, and unable to correct again. Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to describe students creative thinking skill of VIII grade SMP Negeri 4 Jember in solving mathematical problem using local wisdom PISA test of quantity content. The local wisdom used in this research comes from Jember regency, namely “petik laut” and “sangkar burung” in Dawuhan village. The subject is choosen from class VIII G based on the students' mathematical skill which is taken from the UTS score that has been obtained. The classification shows that there are 7 students with the high score, 23 students in the middle level, and 6 students get the low score. The research subjects consist of 2 students in each category of mathematical skill. Data analysis is done based on problem-solving tests and interviewing tests. The students with high math skills are able to achieve 2 key components of creative thinking, namely, fluency, and flexibility. The students with the middle level of math skills are able to achieve 1 key component of creative thinking, namely, fluency. The students with low math skills are unable to achieve the three key components of creative thinking: fluency, flexibility, and novelty. Keywords: Creative Thinking, Math Skill , Local Wisdom

Abstract

Abstract.Inquiry is the learning model that emphasis oncritical thinkingand analyticalprocesstofind their ownanswers toaproblem,andSAVIis a combinationof physical movementand intellectualactivity. The aims of this research is to know implementation of inquiry learning model with SAVI approach to increase students mathematic outcome and student’s activity for the students of class IX. Type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) and the study design used was a model scheme Kemmis dan Taggartstudy research design were consists of 4 phases include planning, action, observation, and reflection. Thesubject of the research isIX C students of SMP Negeri 2 Jenggawah and material was chosen surface area and volume of curved space geometry. The data collection methods used in this research was observation, interview, test, and documentation.In the first cycle, completeness student’s activity is 77,05% and the student learning outcomes classically is 72,22%. And the second cycle, completeness the student’s activity is 86,57% and the student learning outcomes classically is 86,11%. So the increase of the both cycle classically above was 13,89%. The result shows that the completeness of student’s activity and result learning has increased well.
