Abstract

Pakchoy plants (Brassica chinensis L. ) is a plant that much in demand by the public because of high nutritional content. The limited agricultural land currently caused pakchoy cultivation declined, one of the ways that can be used to overcome this problem is to utilize the limited land by verticulture manner. Nutrients and water is a very important factor for plant growth of pakchoy, thus providing a variety of growing media and the provision of water can improve plant growth and production. Research has been conducted on the home screen Technical Services Unit Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from September to November 2014. The research conducted experimentally using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consist 2 factors: embedding medium and the volume of water. The first factor is the growing medium consisting of three types of medium, M1=inceptisol soil, M2= 75% Inceptisol  and 25% cocopeat, M3= 75% inceptisol and 25% ash sawdust and the second factor consists of 3 volumes of water that V1=100 ml/day, V2=200 ml/day, V3= 300 ml/day. Parameters measured were plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, fresh weight, weight suitable for consumption and root volume. The results showed that the volume of water with planting medium ash sawdust effect on growth and yield of pakchoy. Provision of water volume of 200 ml and the embedding medium ash sawdust with vertikultur system gives the best effect on plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, plant fresh weight, fresh weight of plants suitable for consumption, and root volume.   Keyword: pakchoy, medium, water volume, verticulture

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the interaction of Bokashi fertilizer and cow urine as well as to get the best treatment on the growth of the cocoa plant. The research was conducted in August until November 2014 at the experimental garden of Agriculture, University of Riau, Bina Widya road 12.5 km Simpang Baru , Tampan, Pekanbaru.      This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors and three repetition. The first factor is bokashi (B) consisting of 4 levels,                    were: 0 g / polybag (B0), 50 g / polybag (B1), 75 g / polybag (B2), 100 g / polybag (B3) and the second factor is Urine (U) which Consist 4 levels, were: 0 ml / L of water (U0), 300 ml / L of water (U1), 400 ml / L of water (U2) and 500 ml / L of water (U3). Parameters measured were: seedling height, number of leaves, leaf area, stem circumference, seedling dry weight, and root crown ratio. Research results show that the interaction of Bokashi fertilizer and cow urine with the dose of 75 g / polybag and        400 ml / L of water, is the best dose to increase seedling height, leaf area, dry weight and root crown ratio. Bokashi fertilizer with 75 g / polybag is the best dose for increasing seedling height, number of leaves, leaf area, girth and dry weight. Cow urine application at the dose of 400 ml / L of water is the best dose for enhancing seedling height, leaf area and dry weight.   keyword: Cacao seedling, bokashi fertilizer, cow urine

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness and get the best concentration of cow urine on the growth and yield of mustard (Brassica juncea L.). This research was conducted at the experimental station Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in January to February 2014. Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments and 4 replications use in this experiment. The treatment consisted application of cow urine with concentrations is : U0 : without application of cow urine, U1: 14 cc/l of water, U2 : 19 cc/l of water, U3 : 24 cc/l of water and U4 : 29 cc/l of water. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and mean separations with Duncan Multiple Range Test at the 5% level. The  Parameters measured were the plant height, leaf number, leaf area, root volume, plant fresh weight and weight of crop suitable for consumption. The results showed that application of cow urine is significantly affected to parameters of plant height, leaf number, leaf area, root volume, plant fresh weight and weight of crop suitable for consumption. Application of cow urine at concentrations of 29 cc/l of water is the best concentration for all parameters tested. Keyword : Cow Urine, Mustard, Growth, Yield

Abstract

The research intent to know the effect of giving ethephon stimulant to the latex production of rubber plant with bark application technique. Research conducted in plantation of people rubber, Countryside of Bencah Kelubi, District of Tapung, Regency of Kampar from February till March 2015. This research  arranged experimentally by using Completely Randomized Block Design which consist of  5 treatments ( without giving of ethephon, giving dose of ethephon 0,3 cc plant-1, giving dose of ethephon 0,6 cc plant-1, giving dose of ethephon 0,9 cc plant-1, giving dose of ethephon 1,2 cc plant-1) and 4 group then obtained 20 experimental units with 3 tree each every unit. Parameter observed duration of latex flow, volume of latex and Dry Rubber Content. Data analyzed statistically using ANOVA and followed with LSD at level 5% if the results of analysis of variance significant. Result of research indicate that giving of ethephon stimulant with dose 0,9 cc plant-1 tend to increase parameters duration of latex flow and latex volume of local clone rubber. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of chiken manure and various doses of urea fertilizer on Palm Oil seedling growth (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) in the Main Nursery, as well as to obtain the best combination of treatments. This research lasted from August 2013 to November 2013 at Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau. Research arranged experimentally using Completely Randomized Design (CRD), 2 factors with 3 replications. First factor: Chiken Manure K0 (Without treatment) K1 (25 g/polybag) and K2 (50 g / polybagy), and second factor: Urea Fertilizer U0 (without treatment), U1 (0.45 g/polybag) U2 (0.91g/polybag) and U3 (1.82 g/polybag). Parameters measured were additional seeds height, additonal stump diameter, additional number of leaves, root volume, shoot root ratio and dry weight. Data were analyzed using the F test and test of Duncan New’s Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) 5%. The results shows the use of chicken manure reveal significant value on increasing the stump diameter, shoot root ratio and dry weight of plants and the use of urea fertilizer effect on all parameters, increasing the plant height, diameter of the stump, number of leaves, root volume, shoot root ratio and dry weight of plants, while the combination of chiken manure and urea fertilizer reveal no effect on all parameters. Abstract

Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is a plantation crop that has a high economic value, but low productivity and quality of cocoa in Indonesia due to substantial losses. One of many efforts we can do to improve the quality and quantity of cocoa production is through improving the quality of seeds. Fertilizing is one of important factor on the growth of cocoa seedling. Application of organic material as fertilizer can give a good effect for plants. One of many organic material that can be used is a mixture of vermicompost. This study aim is to determine the effectof vermicompost on the growth of cocoa seedlings and get the best doses for the growth of cocoa seedlings. This research was conducted in the experimental field of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riaufrom September to December 2014. This research was carried out using completely randomized design (CRD), which consisted of 4 treatments with 3 replications. The treatments consisted of :(K1) without vermicompost/plant, (K2) 15 gvermicompost/plant, (K3) 25 gvermicompost/plant, (K4) 35 gvermicompost/plant. The results showed that the giving of vermicompost on cocoa seedlings effected on seedling height, number of leaves, girth and leaf area. Giving vermicompost 25 g/plant the best results on the growth of cocoa seedlings.   Keyword: vermicompost, organic material, cocoa seedling

Abstract

The research aims to study the provision of plant growth regulator (PGR) from banana weevil and shoots on the growth of oil palm seeds (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) in the main-nursery. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in October 2013 to January 2014. Testing in the form an experiment using Completely Randomize Design (CRD) that consists of 3 treatment (without PGR, PGR of the bananas weevil: 75 ml and PGR of the bamboo sprout : 75 ml), every treatment repeated 4 times. Parameter that observed are high quality seeds, the number of leaves and the diameter weevil. Results of the study showed that the original PGR of bamboo sprout and bananas weevil influential was real increase seeds, the number of foot and mouth diameter weevil that without PGR. The original PGR of bamboo sprout  increase each parameter higher than PGR of the bananas weevil.   Keyword: Oil  palm and Plant Growth Regulator

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect ofrice straw compostand potassium, andits combination with the right doseof the growth of oil palm seeds in main nursery. The research was conducted at the experimental farm of Agriculture Faculty, Universityof Riau, Bina Widy astreet, district of Tampan, Pekanbaru City. This research was conducted on April until June 2014. This research arranged experimentally using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factorial. The first factor is compostedrice straw(0, 75, 100and125g/plant), second factor is potassium(0, 0,825, 1,10and 1,375 g/plant) were repeated 3 times. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) andfollowed byDuncan’s test at 5% level. Parameters measured were theincrease of seeds height, increase of seeds hump diameter, increase of leaves number, increase of leaf midrib length and increase of leaf width. The results showedthat giving rice straw compostand potassiumand it combination not revealgood growth toall parameters but thesingle factor of potassiumgavegood resultsatincrease of seeds height, increase of seeds stump diameter and increase of leafmidrib length atdose of0,825g/plant. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness and best compound of banana corm local microorganism on rice straw composting forPB-42 riceplant (Oryza sativa L.) with SRI method. This research conducted at the Department of Agrotechnology Greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in May to November 2013. Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 5 replications used in this experiment. The treatments consisted compound of banana corm local microorganism and water is M1 = 1 :6, M2 = 1 : 5,  M3 = 1 : 4, M4 = 1 : 3. Data were analyzed using analysis of varianceand mean separations with Duncan's Multiple Range Test at the 5% level. The parameters measured were the plant height, tillerstotal number, number of productive tillers, panicle emergence time, panicle length, plant dry weight, percentage of fillinggrain, weight of 1000 filled grain and milled dry grain per hill. The results showed that administration of banana corm local microorganism has not significantly affectedto all parameters. The compound of banana corm local microorganism   and water of 1:6 dilutionnot significantly affect on growth and yield compare to compost with the relatively higher levels of dilution chemical properties treatments except on panicle emergence time.   Keywords : Banana corm local microorganism, rice plant, rice straw compost, SRI method

Abstract

The aimed of this research was to know the influence of coconut water and tea dregs on the growth stum sleep eyes, look at the concentration of coconut water and tea dregs dose and the best combination for the growth of the eye stum rubber bed. The research was done experimentally by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) by using two factors: the first factor is the provision of coconut water A1 = 250 cc/ l, A2 = 500 cc/ l, A3 = 750 cc/ l. The second factor is the provision of tea waste B1 = 80 g/ polybag, B2 = 100 g/ polybag, B3 = 120 g/ polybag. Data were analyzed statistically using Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA) followed by a further test DNMRT at 5% level. Parameters measured were time buds appear (days), shoot length (cm), number of leaves (pieces), shoot diameter (cm), shoot dry weight (g). Combination treatment with coconut water giving 750 cc/ l with the dregs of tea 120 g/ polybag showed the best results for the time parameter appearing shoots, shoot length, number of leaves, stem diameter and dry weight of shoots.
