Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini berfokus pada peningkatan produktivitas UMKM May's Kitchen di Desa Mangga Dua, Kecamatan Tanjung Beringin, Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai, melalui penerapan teknologi tepat guna. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi mitra adalah keterbatasan teknologi produksi, khususnya dalam proses pemanggangan kue kukus, yang berdampak pada kualitas dan daya saing produk. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, tim pengabdi mengimplementasikan pendekatan terpadu meliputi edukasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan intensif. Inti dari program adalah introduksi oven pemanggang kue kukus berkapasitas 6 loyang dengan 1 rak berbahan stainless steel. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan efisiensi produksi hingga tiga kali lipat, disertai perbaikan signifikan pada kualitas dan konsistensi produk. Evaluasi pasca-program mengindikasikan peningkatan pengetahuan mitra sebesar 85% mencakup aspek teknis operasional, food safety, dan quality control. Analisis ekonomi memproyeksikan penurunan biaya produksi hingga 20% dan potensi peningkatan margin keuntungan 15-20%.

Abstract

Mitra kolaboratif yang terlibat dalam kegiatan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat ini para guru yang bertugas di Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Swasta Teladan, yang berlokasi di Kelurahan Cinta Damai. Inisiatif yang dijalankan melalui kegiatan ini merangkum solusi atas permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra, yang meliputi: implementasi pelatihan mengenai metode pembelajaran yang bersifat inovatif dan memikat bagi siswa melalui pendekatan blended learning, dan penyediaan pelatihan dan pendampingan dalam pengoperasian sistem informasi pembelajaran online, dikenal sebagai ELEMSY. Dalam penerapannya, metode pendekatan yang diadopsi dalam pelaksanaan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat ini didasarkan pada pendekatan pendidikan, pelatihan, praktikum, serta pendampingan. Dari segi hasil yang telah diraih dari berjalannya kegiatan ini, terdapat beberapa poin signifikan: Mitra telah berhasil menghasilkan suatu portal daring yang berfungsi sebagai sistem informasi pembelajaran online, dikenal dengan nama ELEMSY. Selanjutnya, terdapat perbaikan secara nyata terkait pemahaman para pendidik dalam implementasi model pembelajaran blended learning. Serta peningkatan dalam hal pengetahuan dan keterampilan pendidik dalam memanfaatkan dan mengoperasikan sistem pembelajaran daring

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan mutu pembelajaran berbasis Alat Peraga Pendidikan (APE) di TK An-Nida Medan. Permasalahan utama yang ditemukan adalah kurangnya pengetahuan guru tentang pembelajaran inovatif dan terbatasnya pemanfaatan APE. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan, workshop pembuatan APE, pendampingan pelaksanaan, serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan guru mengintegrasikan APE sebesar 80%, partisipasi aktif siswa menjadi 85%, ketersediaan jumlah APE pada mitra menjadi 80%, dan ketercapaian indikator tumbuh kembang anak menjadi 90%. Temuan yang signifikan adalah efektifnya pemanfaatan bahan limbah untuk APE dan meningkatnya motivasi belajar siswa. Program ini berkontribusi dalam mengubah paradigma pembelajaran menjadi lebih inovatif dan berpusat pada anak serta menyediakan model pengembangan pembelajaran berbasis APE yang adaptif.

Abstract

This Study was about the theme, rheme and thematic progression of students ' recount text of the tenth grade at SMA Budisatrya Medan. The aims of this study were (1) to investigate thematic progression pattern used in recount text (2) to investigate the reason why the students used thematic progression in the way they did. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study were clauses of students ˜recount text. The instruments of collecting data were elicitation technique and interview. The data was analyzed by using interactive model technique of Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2014). The results of this study were the following. (1) There were two patterns of thematic progression used in students™ recount text, they were Theme Reiteration/Constant Theme Pattern (TR/CTP), and Zig - zag / Linear Theme Pattem ( Zig - zag / LTP). (2) The reason to use the thematic progression by the students, they were: (a) the students were lack of knowledge about the use of the thematic progression, (b) they are also less interested in writing. (c) The students got resources from English teacher™s explanation and (d) the students got resources from reading recount text.Keywords: Theme , Rheme , Thematic Progression , Recount text .

Abstract

The study was aimed to recognize how a teaching method could increase students™ competence in speaking. The objective of the study is to describe how the dubbing movie increases the students speaking skill of the tenth Grade Students  of SMA N 15 Medan. The research design is a qualitative research. The data collecting methods were interview, observation, and documentation. The data gained was analyzed by using Miles and Huberman model of the data analysis. The research found that the students of the Grade X in SMA N 15 Medan enjoyed the process of preparing the video dubbing from the announcement, script preparing, and the practice. Some students who noticed difficult in speaking English were found increase in speaking competence especially in languages expression and found a fun way to practice English speaking. For short, the video dubbing teaching method increased the students of SMA N 15 Medan English speaking competence.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Desa Kolam Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara. Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra yaitu teknologi pengolahan masih tradisional sehingga mitra mengalami kesusahan dalam memenuhi kuantitas yang dibutuhkan dalam waktu singkat, khususnya teknologi dalam pemerasan dan penggiling bahan baku, dan penyusunan laporan keuangan. Sehubungan dengan permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra, maka pada program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini akan diwujudkan dengan mentransferkan alat/mesin penggiling jamu, pelatihan pembukuan dan manajemen keuangan. Metode yang digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah metode pendidikan, sosialisasi, pendampingan peningkatan produk, pelatihan pembukuan dan manajemen usaha. Hasil kegiatan ini berupa telah diberikannya alat TTG Mesin penggiling jamu, serta diadakannya pelatihan serta pendampingan manajemen usaha dan pembukuan keuangan. Tingkat keberhasilan dari kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat di buktikan dengan peningkatan produksi, pendapatan dan pengetahuan mitra

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the implementation of the small group discussion technique in teaching speaking skills to eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Tebing Tinggi and to find out the challenges of implementing small group discussion techniques in the classroom. The research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method that involved the English teacher. The teacher implemented this technique in two meetings. In the first meeting, the teacher divided the students into several groups and gave them time to discuss the topic that had been determined. In the second meeting, each group presented the results of their discussion in front of the class. During the implementation process, the teacher faced three main challenges: time management, classroom management, and student participation. However, although the teacher faced these challenges, the learning process went very well. This showed that the small group discussion technique could be an effective and enjoyable way to improve students’ speaking skills

Abstract

This study aims to design and evaluate SDG-oriented digital learning materials for the Productive Written Language Skill (PWLS) course in alignment with 21st-century learning principles. Responding to the growing need to integrate global citizenship and sustainability into English language education, the materials embed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within argumentative writing tasks. A research and development (R&D) approach (Branch, 2010) was employed, involving expert validation, student testing, and classroom observation. Two subject-matter experts assessed the materials and rated them as very good (M = 4.0) in terms of relevance, clarity, and integration of SDG content. Thirty students from the English Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Medan participated in the implementation stage. Their feedback indicated strong engagement and perceived usefulness (M = 4.16), while pre- and post-test results showed significant improvement in writing performance—from 65.30 to 76.40. Observational data confirmed high student participation and timely task completion, with only minor navigation issues. Overall, the SDG-oriented digital modules effectively supported language development, critical thinking, and 21st-century competencies. The findings imply that SDG-oriented digital materials can effectively foster students’ critical thinking and writing competence in the Productive Written Language Skill course, supporting the goals of 21st-century learning.

Abstract

This research was aimed to develop English speaking materials for the students of Accounting program at SMK Negeri 1 Sidikalang especially the tenth grade. The research was conducted by Research and Development (R & D) design through four phases; Evaluation and Need Analysis, Material Development, Material Validation and Revision and Final Product. It was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Sidikalang. The date were gathered by administering interview to English teacher and distributing questionnaire to 10 students to get the student’s needs. The result of questionnaire showed that the relevance of existing Speaking material with Accounting major just 35 % (less relevant) and 90 % of the students need the relevance English speaking material with their major and related to work situation. The interview and questionnaire results prove that the students need English Speaking materials which contain the appropriate knowledge or topic with the syllabus, student’s level and major. The material developed into 3 units based on the basic competence on syllabus; Congratulating and Complimenting, Expressing Intention, and Giving Announcement. The product of English speaking material validated by two experts, lecturer and English teacher. The result of experts’ judgment is 89.5 and it belongs to good category. The experts’ validation shows that the materials are appropriate and recommended to be used for students of Accounting program especially in SMK Negeri 1 Sidikalang.
