Abstract

Abstract There were several human activities around the Sepinang Lake that contribute the input of organic and anorganic matter and thus influence the type and density of zooplankton. To understand the types and density of zooplankton in the Sepinang Lake, a research has been carried out in March-April 2018. There were three sampling points, namely in the inlet, in the middle of the lake, and in the end of the lake. In each sampling point, the water was sampled from the surface and 2 Secchi depth. Sampling were conducted 3 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, dissolved oxygen, pH,nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that there were 19 species of zooplankton present and they were belonged to 7 classes, namely Cladocera (2 species), Monogononta (9 species), Crustacea (3 species), Copepod (1 species), Ciliate (2 species), Sarcodina (1 species) and Eurotatoria (1 species). The zooplankton density in the Sepinang Lake was 2,448-3,808organisms/L.The most commontype of zooplankton present in the Sepinang Lake was Ciliate.Water quality parameter values are as follow,  temperature was 30.7-32.0oC, transparency was 49.3-62.8 cm, dissolved oxygen was 4.22-5.58 mg/L, pH was 5.33-5.60, CO2was 9.32-15.98 mg/L, nitrate was 0.07-0.23 mg/L and phosphate was 0.09-0.28 mg/L. Based on the type and density of zooplankton present, it can be concluded thatthe Sepinang Lake can be categorized as oligothropic. Keywords : Kampar River, Oxbow Lake, Eutrophic, Ciliate.

Abstract

AbstractMany activities in the Perupuk Lake contribute the input of organic and anorganic mattet that affects the nutrient concentration and increasing thr growth of phytoplankton. A research about Thophic State of Perupuk Lake by Phytoplankton in Kampung Pinang Village Kampar District Riau Province has been conducted in June-July 2019. The location of the water samples to measure water quality defined 3 stations, namely in the inlet, the curve of the lake, and in the end of the lake. In each station, there were 2 sampling points, namely in the surface (0.15 m) and 2 Secchi depth (0.90 m). Samplings were conducted 3 times at intervals of a week. Water quality parameters measured in this research were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen, CO2, nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that there were 38 species of phytoplankton that were belonged to 7 classes, namely Chlorophyceae (16 spesies), Bacillariophyceae (4 spesies), Cyanophyceae (5 spesies), Euglenophyceae (1 spesies), Trebouxiophyceae (4 spesies), Cryptophyceae (1 spesies) dan Zygnematophyceae (7 spesies). The phytoplankton abundance of the Perupuk Lake was 46.481-74.959  cells/L. The most common type of phytoplankton present was Monoraphodium griffithii. Results shown that the temperaturewas 28-30 0C, transparency was 40-54 cm, depth was 1-2 m, pH was 5, dissolved oxygen was 5.02-6.81 mg/L, CO2 was 5.99-15.98 mg/L, nitrate was 0.0125-0.9646 mg/L and phosphate was 0.0553-0.2235mg/L and. Abstract

Abstract            Koto Tibun reservoir received organic and anorganic materials from the Tibun River. The impact of continous materials input caused enrichment of nutrient in the waters. This research aims to understand the trophic status of the Koto Tibun Reservoir based on trophic state index and it was conducted in February-March 2018. There were three stations namely, station 1( riverine zone), station 2 (transition zone) and station 3 (lacustrine zone). Samples were taken once/week for a 3 week period. Water quality parameters measured were total phosphorus, chlorophyll-a, transparency, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and nitrate. Result shown that total phosphorus was 144.94-192.48 µg/L, chlorophyll-a 3.10-3.98 µg/L, transparency 0.75-0.79 m, temperature 25.3-25.6 oC, pH 5, dissolved oxygen 4.78-5.62 mg/L and nitrate 0.186-0.193 mg/L. Abstract

ABSTRACTAKAP Reservoir was built to store excess water during the rainy season and as a recreation destination. A research aims to understand the limnological condition in the AKAP Reservoir based on physical-chemical parameters was conducted from March-April 2018. There were 4 sampling stations, namely Station 1 (inlet), Station 2 (in the middle of reservoir), Station 3 (in the middle of reservoir) and Station 4 (outlet). The water samples were taken once/week for a 3 weeks period. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, velocity, depth, water inflow, water level, pH, DO, CO2 free, nitrate and phosphate concentration. Results shown that the temperature was 29-300C, transparency 25.7-30.33 cm, depth 1.63-2.53 m, velocity 0.79-1.1 m/s, water inflow 0.26-0.31 m3/s, water level 86.3-116.7 cm, pH 5, DO 2.94-3.27 mg/L, CO2 free 7.99-11.98 mg/L, nitrate 0.04-005 mg/L, phosphate 0.06-0.09 mg/L. Abstract

AbstractNygaardindex is an index which can be used to determine the trophic status of waters, based on phytoplankton composition. To understand the trophic status of the Koto Tibun Reservoir, a research was conducted on February-March 2018. There were three sampling station, namely station 1 (riverin zone), station 2 (transition zone) and station 3 (lacustrin zone). Samplings were conducted 3 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, pH, free CO2, nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that the Nygaard Index values ranged from 2,4-3. The water quality parameters were as follows : temperature : 25.3-25.60C, transparency 75-79 cm, pH 5, free CO2 : 18.64-19.44 mg/L. Abstract

Abstract Nygard Index can be used to determine the trophic state of waters. Calculation of this index is based on the number of phytoplankton species that are belonged to these following groups, namely  Chlorococcales, Myxophyceae, Centric diatom, Euglenophyceae, and Desmidiaceae. To understand the trophic state of the Perupuk Lake, a research has been conducted in June-July 2019. There were three sampling stations, namely station 1 (in the inlet from the Kampar River), station 2 (in the middle of the lake) and station 3 (in the end of the lake). In each station there were two sampling points, in the surface and in the middle of water column. Sampling were conducted 3 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were phytoplankton type, transparency, temperature, pH, nitrate, phosphate, dissolved oxygen and free carbon dioxide. Results shown there were 18 species of phytoplankton present, namely Chlorococcales order (5 species), Myxophyceae (4 species), Centric diatom order (3 species), Euglenophyta Division (1 species) and Desmidiaceae (5 species). Water quality parameters were as follows: transparency 44.3-49.3 cm, temperature 28.3-300 C, pH 5, nitrate 0.11-0.17 mg/L, phosphate 0.02-0.04 mg/L, dissolve oxygen 5.07-6.40 mg/L, and  free carbon dioxide 7.3-14.6 mg/L. Nygaard Index value of the Perupuk Lake range 1.75-2.5 and it can be  categorized as mesotrophic.Keywords: Trophic State of lake, phytoplankton, mesotrophic, water quality.

Abstract

AbstractCarrying capacity is defined as the ability of aquatic environment to support the life of organisms in that area. A study aimed to determine the aquatic carrying capacity for aquaculture fishing. The carrying capacity was determined based on dissolved oxygen concentration. The research was conducted during June to July 2019 in Tepian Batu Lake. Water samples were taken in three stations, namely Station 1 (inlet area), Station 2 (middle of the lake), and Station 3 (the end of the lake).In each station there were 2 sampling sites, namely surface and in the 2 Secchi depth. Sampling was done four times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were dissolved oxygen, temperature, transperancy, pH, carbondioxide. nitrate and phosphate concentration. Carrying capacity was analyzed using the Kartamihardja formula (1998). Result shown that DO concentration 3.96-5.36 mg/L at the surface; 3.13-4.37 mg/L at water column. Water quality parameters were as follows: transparency ranges from 56.5-63.75 cm, temperature 28.75-30.5oC, pH 5-5.5, carbondioxide 6-12 mg/L, nitrate 0.031-0.078 mg/L and phosphate 0.062-0.116 mg/L. Carrying capacity of Tepian Batu Lake is 1276 kg/year and number units can be operated is 12 units. The current number of floating cages (FNC) unit in Tepian Batu Lake is 25 units. Based on data obtained that number of floating cages in Tepian Batu Lake has exceeded the carrying capacity. Keywords : Carrying capacity, dissolved oxygen, and floating cages

Abstract

ABSTRACT             In the Riau University area there are several shallow waters. Activities conducted   around the waters may contribute the input of organic and inorganic pollutant into the waters. The pollutant may increase the fertility of the water and it is reflected in the concentration of chlorophyll-a content in the water. A research aims to determine the aquatic productivity based on chlorophyll-a concentration, has been carried out in March-April 2018.  Sampling was carried out in three stations, namely stations 1 (around the LPPM   building), station 2 (in the front of the   Rectorate building), and station 3 (in the Fisheries Faculty reservoir). Water quality parameters measured were temperature, pH, transparency, DO, CO2, nitrate and phosphateconcentration. Samplings were conducted three times, once/week. Results shown that the chlorophyll-a concentration ranged from 4.04-5.12µg/L, temperature 30-310C, transparency 34-84 cm, depth 116-209 cm, DO 4.96-5.64 mg/L, CO2 14.64-17.31 mg/L, Nitrate 0.05-0.06 mg/L, phosphate 0.07-0.19 mg/L, and pH 6. Abstract

AbstractThe decaying rate is the quantity of organic matter that can be decomposed by bacteria per unit time. To determine the decaying rate or the load of organic matter in the Inundation of PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir, Batu Bersurat village, research was conducted on June-July 2019. There were three stations namely station 1(tourism area and arround of this station there were palm’s plantation), station 2 (there were restaurant and trees arround of station) and station 3 (floating cage). Each station was determined three sampling points, namely in the surface (15 cm), 2 Secchi depth (330 cm) and 4 Secchi depth (660 cm). Sampling was conducted 4 times, once/week. Water quality parameter measured were dissolved oxygen, BOD5, temperature, pH, transparancy and depth. Results shown that the value of K was 0.18/day – 0.50/day.Water quality parameter such as: dissolved oxygen was 5.42 mg/L – 7.53 mg/L, BOD5 was 4.03 mg/L – 8.90 mg/L, temperature was 28.7oC –30.7oC, pH  was 5 – 5.2, transparancy was 145 cm –187.5 cm and depth was 17.7 m – 29.7 m. In the inundation of PLTA Koto Panjang reservoir in Batu Bersurat village, the decaying rate was faster than the accumulation of organic matter, except in floating cage area. Keywords : Load of organic matter, accumulation, dissolved oxygen, BOD5, water quality

Abstract

Abstract The carrying capacity is defined as the ability of aquatic environment to support the life of organisms in that area. A study aimed to assess the aquatic carrying capacity for extensive fishing in the Tanjung Balam Lake, Buluh China Village, Kampar District, Riau. The carrying capacity was determined based on primary productivity using chlorophyll-a value. A research was conducted June, 2019. There were 3 stations namely station 1 (inlet area), station 2 (in the middle of lake) and station 3 (tip of lake). In each stations, there were 2 sampling point, in the surface and depth of 2 Secchi (90 cm). Sampling was done three times, once a week. Water quality parameters measured were chlorophyll-a concentration, transparency, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphate and nitrate concentration. Results shown that chlorophyll-a: 6.87 – 25.28 µg/L, transparency: 49 – 54 cm, temperature: 28.5 – 29.8 0C, pH: 5, dissolved oxygen: 3.2 – 7.3 mg/L, CO2 3.9 – 15.9 mg/L, phosphate: 0.042 – 0.148 mg/L and nitrate: 0.0125 – 0.0437 mg/L. Carrying capacity assessment based on chlorophyll-a in the Tanjung Balam Lake was 0.46 tons/year.Keywords: Kampar River, Oxbow lake, Primary Productivity, Water quality
