Abstract

Radio Direction Finder (RDF) had been used as a part of the system in order to  determine the direction of the Radio Frequency (RF) source. This research had used  three different RDF stations without any mobile human operator. The direction data were collected from the each RDF station, it would be calculated using the triangle-centroid-algorithm. Therefore, the RF source position had been automatically determined. This experiment result of the RF source imaginary was compared with the real RF source at about 3.2 meters for latitude, and 3.3 meters for longitude. The results of this method and experiment are very useful for scientist and engineers in application of RF engineering.

Abstract

In recent years, domestic carbage become a serious problem since not all waste is managed properly. The organic waste has a potential as a feedstock for biogas production. Before the fermentation process of biogas production, it is necessary to enumerate organic waste with the help of a multi-function chopper. In the present work, dual function machine (chopping and milling process) is designed and fabricated. The machine is driven with a 5.5 HP gasoline engine with a two-way transmission system connecting to each process. The first line transmission system on the chopping with a pulley size of 2 inch diameter, two grooves mounted on the motor and a 3 inch pulley mounted on the chopper axis with a rotation speed of 2400 rpm. The second line transmission system on the milling uses a 12 inch diameter pulley with a rotation of 600 rpm. The test results show that the capacity of the machine was 60 kg/h with 1 cm chopping size.

Abstract

The presence of quartz sandstone outcrops in the southeast of the study site suggests the presence of quartz sandstones in the northwest, according to the strike direction. This geoelectrical measurement aims to determine the distribution of these sandstones below the surface. The method used is geoelectric with a dipole dipole configuration. Measurements were made on four track lines. Tracks A and B indicate the existence of a layer of sandstone below the surface. Tracks C and D do not show any layers of quartz sandstone. This is caused by the presence of faults or folds that cause the layer to shift from the previously predicted path.

Abstract

Currently, the development of communication technology is very advanced with the presence of cellular and internet technology. However, when there is a public security disturbance and in an emergency situation, cellular communication devices are very dependent on electricity sources and pulses to communicate. Besides, if a natural disaster occurs, the power source will go out and the cellular provider BTS will not function. Radio communication can be used as an adequate alternative technology in dealing with emergencies. Radio communication can be established using simple equipment such as HT (Hand Transceiver), transmitting antennas and repeater stations to extend the communication range. The advantages of radio communication are that it is easier to implement, economical, and has a wide coverage. Therefore, the purpose of this community service activity is to improve skills in using emergency communication tools and provide an understanding of Standard Operating Procedures on how to communicate in an emergency situation. The target of this activity includes members of the National Disaster Relief Agency (BPBD) at Yogyakarta City. There are 2 activities, namely radio frequency regulation and skills workshops using emergency communication tools (HT). The result of this community service activity is that the participants are skilled in communicating using HT in times of emergency.

Abstract

Every life is never separated from the need for water because water is a basic need, especially for humans, both for drinking, bathing, and at the time of pilgrimages to tombstones they the visit. Meanwhile, to get the water, the community lifts it from the nearest water source, namely a healthy water source, which is done manually by drawing water and putting it into a water reservoir. Suppose done enough draining continuously. In addition, to get a power source at the burial site, the community takes electricity from the nearest power source or residents' homes. However, this can be overcome by using an alternative solar power generation system as a driving force for a water pump to lift DC water designed portable to meet water needs. By doing a design using two solar panels of 100watt peak, a solar charge controller with a capacity of 20 amperes and a battery unit with a total of 20Ah able to lift water from the well to a water reservoir 89.034 liters in 8 minutes. The electrical energy required for single use of the water pump is 23.4 Wh, so it is expected to increase the use of time, energy, and the volume of clean water to be more efficient.
