Abstract

Hypertension is still the highest problem in non-communicable diseases (NCD) in Indonesia and has increased cases from previous years. One of the factors that cause hypertension is nutritional status. Objective: This study aimed to find the correlation between nutritional status and hypertension cases of elderly women in Central Java Province. Methodology: This is an observational study with cross-sectional design using secondary data. Nutritional and hypertension status in Central Java Province was derived from Baseline Health Research 2018. A total of 994 Central Java residents aged 55-64 years were used. Hypertension status was obtained from the average of three measurements of systolic/diastolic blood pressure and nutritional status according to BMI obtained from the body weight and height measurement. The chi square test with a 95% confidence level were used to analyzed the data. Results: Most of the respondents was elderly (55-59 years old) (56%), working (65.6%), had normal nutritional status (43.1%) and had hypertension (66.2%). There was a significant correlation between nutritional and hypertension status of elderly women in Central Java Province (p = 0.000). Conclusion: Nutritional status is one of the factors contributing in the insidence of hypertension. Therefore, health program in improving nutritional status is needed in order to reduce the prevalence of hypertension.

Abstract

Penyakit tuberkulosis paru merupakan penyakit infeksi yang dapat memengaruhi indeks massa tubuh penderitanya. Pasien tuberkulosis paru seringkali mengalami penurunan status gizi yang disebabkan gangguan metabolisme akibat inflamasi dan respon imun. Selain itu dapat terjadi pula penurunan nafsu makan dan asupan makan termasuk protein yang disebabkan efek samping dari pengobatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan asupan protein dan lama pengobatan dengan indeks massa tubuh pasien tuberkulosis paru. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional study. Penelitian ini melibatkan 55 responden pasien tuberkulosis paru. Data yang diambil pada penelitian ini adalah data primer dan sekunder. Data yang telah terkumpul selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan Uji Korelasi Rank Spearman dengan tujuan menguji korelasi antar variabel. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan sebanyak 52,7% responden memiliki asupan protein yang kurang dan sebanyak 69,1% responden yang berada pada fase pengobatan lanjutan. Berdasarkan Uji Rank Spearman pada pengujian hubungan asupan protein dengan indeks massa tubuh, diperoleh hasil, yakni p = 0,005, yang berarti terdapat hubungan antara keduanya. Sementara itu, pada pengujian hubungan lama pengobatan dengan indeks massa tubuh diperoleh hasil p = 0,376 yang berarti tidak ada hubungan antar keduanya. Saran bagi Rumah Sakit Paru dr Ario Wirawan Salatiga diharapkan dapat memberikan konseling kepada pasien agar pasien lebih sadar mengenai pemenuhan kebutuhan zat gizi khususnya protein, serta saran bagi pasien diharapkan untuk meningkatkan konsumsi protein baik dari sumber protein hewani maupun nabati agar kebutuhan zat gizi tercukupi.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between thyroid dysfunction with Total Cholesterol levels (TC), Body Mass Index (BMI), Waist Circumference (WC) and Waist to hip Circumference Ratio (WHR). The cross-sectional observational study was conducted in the endemic iodine deficiency areas in Prambanan Sub-district, Sleman Regency. A total subject of 134 women of reproductive age were selected randomly from the source population of 592. Thyroid dysfunction determined by Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) and Free Thyroxine (FT4) level were measured by ELISA method. Total cholesterol level was measured by colorimetric method using a spectrophotometer. We also measured the weight and height for BMI calculation as well as the WC and Hip Circumference (HC). Chi-Square test was applied to analyze association between thyroid dysfunction with TC levels, BMI, WC and WHR. Results found the percentage of thyroid dysfunction in subjects was 39.6% (hypothyroidism 4.5% and hyperthyroidism 35.1%). The percentage of subjects with hypercholesterolemia was 34.3%. The BMI calculation found that the underweight, overweight and obesity proportions were 6.7%; 16.4% and 27.6% respectively; WC >80 cm was 29.9% and WHR >0.85 was 38.8%. There was no association between thyroid dysfunction and TC levels, BMI and WC (p>0.05) respectively. Meanwhile thyroid dysfunction was significantly associated with WHR (p<0.05). Therefore, women in reproductive age with thyroid dysfunction should be aware of their increasing abdominal adiposity.

Abstract

Adolescent nutrition issues are becoming an important issue in Indonesia, marked by the increasing prevalence of overnutrition and obesity due to unbalanced diets. Adolescent nutritional status is an important indicator in assessing the health and development of the younger generation. This study aims to determine the relationship between the frequency of fiber and fat consumption with the nutritional status of adolescents at SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta. This study used an observational design with a cross-sectional approach and involved 100 students in grades X and XI selected using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through the Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) questionnaire for fiber and fat intake and body mass index according to age (BMI/A) for nutritional status. The analysis used to determine the relationship between fiber and fat intake with nutritional status used the Pearson Product Moment test. The results showed that fiber consumption in adolescents with overnutrition status was 60% who consumed less fiber and obesity nutritional status who consumed less fiber was 33.3%. Fat consumption in adolescents with overnutrition status was 43.8% who consumed more fat and obesity nutritional status who consumed more fat was 31.2%. The nutritional status of adolescents consists of 8% undernutrition, 74% good nutrition, 10% overnutrition, and 8% obesity. Data analysis shows that there is a significant relationship between the frequency of fiber and fat consumption with nutritional status.

Abstract

Kebugaran jasmani merupakan faktor penting yang mempengaruhi performa atlet, khususnya dalam olahraga futsal yang menuntut daya tahan dan kecepatan tinggi. Salah satu faktor yang berperan dalam mendukung kebugaran jasmani adalah asupan zat besi (Fe) dan tingkat pengetahuan gizi yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara asupan zat besi (Fe) dan pengetahuan gizi dengan tingkat kebugaran jasmani pada anggota UKM Futsal empat universitas di Karesidenan Surakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross sectional dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 52 orang yang dipilih menggunakan metode convenience sampling. Data asupan Fe dikumpulkan melalui wawancara recall 3x24 jam, data pengetahuan gizi diperoleh melalui kuesioner, dan tingkat kebugaran jasmani diukur menggunakan Beep Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden memiliki asupan Fe defisit (55,77%), pengetahuan gizi cukup (15,38%), dan tingkat kebugaran jasmani sangat kurang (36,54%). Uji korelasi Spearman menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara asupan Fe dan kebugaran jasmani (p = 0,000; r = 0,603). Uji korelasi Pearson menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara pengetahuan gizi dan kebugaran jasmani (p = 0,000; r = 0,585). Semakin baik asupan Fe dan pengetahuan gizi atlet, maka semakin baik pula tingkat kebugaran jasmani yang dimiliki. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar dalam penyusunan program edukasi gizi dan perencanaan pola makan yang tepat bagi atlet futsal untuk meningkatkan performa dan kebugaran jasmani.

Abstract

Hipertensi merupakan salah satu penyebab utama kematian di dunia dan menjadi faktor risiko serius penyakit kardiovaskular. Pola makan, khususnya asupan energi dan lemak, diduga berperan dalam memengaruhi tekanan darah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara asupan energi dan lemak dengan tekanan darah pada penderita hipertensi. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional dan dilakukan di Prolanis Puskesmas Grogol Kabupaten Sukoharjo. Sampel terdiri dari 38 responden yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data asupan energi dan lemak diperoleh melalui recall makanan 24 jam selama tiga hari tidak berturut-turut, sedangkan tekanan darah diukur menggunakan tensimeter. Uji hubungan antara asupan energi dan lemak dengan tekanan darah dilakukan menggunakan uji Chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai signifikansi antara asupan energi dengan tekanan darah (p=0,007), serta antara asupan lemak dengan tekanan darah (p=0,013). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara asupan energi dan lemak dengan tekanan darah. Sebagian besar responden memiliki asupan energi dan lemak yang tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya pengaturan pola makan sebagai bagian dari upaya pengendalian tekanan darah pada penderita hipertensi.

Abstract

The results of an initial survey of the people of Wirogunan Village showed that hypertension became one of the health problems with the highest prevalence of 51.18%, with risk factors found in the form of unhealthy diet and lifestyle. Therefore, counseling is carried out related to knowledge about hypertension and diet recommended by sufferers. The method used is lectures equipped with pre-tests and post-tests. The information media used in this activity is a PowerPoint presentation about hypertension. The result of this counseling was an increase in knowledge among villagers with good categories from before receiving counseling by 60.5% and after receiving counseling by 84.2%. Increased knowledge consists of understanding the causes, prevention of hypertension, and diet for people with hypertension. Based on the results of Wilcoxon's non-parametric statistical test, a value of p = 0.003 (p<0.05) was obtained. Then Ho was rejected, meaning there is a difference in the level of knowledge of Wirogunan Village residents before and after receiving hypertension counseling.

Abstract

Desa Geneng sendiri memiliki penduduk lansia sebanyak 89 jiwa dan dari screening awal pengecekan tekanan darah di dukuh Kaworan Sari dan Geneng Sari didapatkan 74,16% lansia mengalami tekanan darah tinggi atau Hipertensi. Hipertensi pada lansia di Desa Geneng banyak disebabkan karena kurangnya pengetahuan terkait penyakit hipertensi, pola makan dan gaya hidup yang kurang baik, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan terkait penyakit hipertensi, manajemen pola makan dan kebiasaan hidup agar lebih baik terutama pada lansia. Metode yang diterapkan dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat meliputi screening hipertensi, penyuluhan kesehatan, dan diskusi interaktif dengan media poster dan leaflet di Posyandu Kaworan Sari pada 4 Juli 2024 dan Posyandu Geneng Sari pada 5 Juli 2024. Sasaran pengabdian adalah masyarakat lansia dengan hipertensi di Desa Geneng. Pre-test dan post-test juga dilakukan untuk mengukur peningkatan tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat lansia terkait hipertensi. Hasil penyuluhan diketahui terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan dengan hasil pengetahuan cukup 85,3% menjadi pengetahuan baik 100%. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data kadar tekanan darah lansia di Posyandu Kaworan Sari dan Geneng Sari, terdapat 23 (25,8%) lansia yang memiliki tensi dengan kadar yang normal dan 66 (74,2%) lansia dengan kadar tensi tinggi. Program kerja GENDHIS (Gerakan Edukasi dan Diet Hipertensi Giat Senam) adalah program kerja mahasiswa KKN mengenai penjelasan hipertensi, diet hipertensi dan senam hipertensi yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa KKN dalam rangka untuk mengukur pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai hipertensi. Agar pihak puskesmas dapat melaksanakan penyuluhan, kolaborasi gizi, promosi kesehatan dan kunjungan rumah ke rumah agar masyarakat memiliki kemampuan untuk mencegah hipertensi.

Abstract

Adolescent nutritional status is influenced by multiple dietary behaviors, including breakfast habits and snack food consumption. This study aimed to examine the association between breakfast habits and snack consumption frequency with the nutritional status of students at SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta. An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 100 students in grades X and XI, selected using stratified proportional random sampling. Breakfast habits were assessed using a 3-day food record and categorized as regular (consuming breakfast ≥5 days per week) or irregular (<5 days per week). Snack food consumption was measured using a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) and classified as frequent (≥1 time per day) or infrequent (<1 time per day). Nutritional status was determined using Body Mass Index-for-Age (BMI-for-age) based on WHO standards. The results showed that 79% of students had regular breakfast habits, while 21% had irregular habits. Snack consumption was equally distributed, with 50% categorized as frequent consumers and 50% as infrequent consumers. In terms of nutritional status, 8% of students were underweight, 74% were normal, and 18% were overweight. Chi-square analysis revealed a significant association between breakfast habits and nutritional status (p = 0.021, Cramér’s V = 0.32), as well as between snack consumption frequency and nutritional status (p = 0.034, Cramér’s V = 0.28). In conclusion, both breakfast habits and snack consumption frequency are significantly associated with the nutritional status of high school students. These findings underscore the importance of promoting regular breakfast consumption and healthy snacking behaviors to support optimal adolescent nutrition.

Abstract

Introduction: Wasting in toddlers remains a significant problem affecting growth and development, requiring affordable and nutritionally adequate interventions such as enteral formulas based on local food ingredients. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the acceptability of an enteral formula made from chicken liver, eggs, and coconut milk as an alternative for managing wasting in toddlers. Method: A combination of true experimental and quasi-experimental research with a completely randomized design was conducted from July to August 2025 using three formulations (F1, F2, F3). Chicken liver flour was produced through drying at 90°C for 3 hours, followed by grinding and sieving. Organoleptic testing involved 15 untrained panelists using a 7-point hedonic scale, and data were analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. Result and Discussion: The shrinkage of chicken liver into flour reached 86.7% and 93.05%. Osmolality values ranged from 258-296 mOsm/kg, lower than the commercial product (491 mOsm/kg), while moisture content ranged from 3.76-4.02%, comparable to the commercial product (3.77%). Flow rate ranged from 0.56-1.20 sec/ml. Color values showed l* 31.4-39.9, a* 3-3.45, and b* 7.8-10.4 with no significant differences (p>0.05). Organoleptic results indicated that Formula 1 had higher preference scores (color 5.73, aroma 4.80, overall 4.73) compared to other formulas, although taste, texture, and overall aspects showed significant differences (p<0.05). Higher chicken liver content tended to reduce acceptability, particularly in taste. Conclusions: The best formula was F1 (20 g chicken liver flour and 20 g egg flour), which showed the highest overall acceptability and comparable physical characteristics.
