Abstract

Each student's problem solving has different characteristics and can be seen in terms of gender differences. Gender in mathematics achievement is still a hot topic to be researched. Therefore, this study aims to describe the problem solving of primary school students on Geometry using the Polya strategy model in terms of gender. This study uses a qualitative approach design. Participants in this study consisted of 4 high and moderate achievement primary school students of the male and female gender. Data collection providing by problem-solving test, and then we conducted interviews with participants as part of the data triangulation process. Based on the study results, we found that: (1) there are differences in problem-solving strategies carried out by male and female students. For high achievement, male participants are superior, while for moderate achievement, female participants are superior; (2) A male student with high achievement is a good problem solver. A female student with moderate achievement is routine problem-solver, and naive problem-solvers are a female student with high achievement and a male student with moderate achievement. (3) Good problem solver were confident and able to find other ways when encounters obstacles. Routine problem solver do not do the looking back process, so there are mistakes at some of the problem-solving stages, and naive problem solvers only manipulate the numbers on the problem into some calculation operations.

Abstract

Mathematics education is taught to students from the basic level with the aim of equipping them with various skills, such as logical, analytical, systematic, critical, and creative thinking abilities, as well as the ability to work together. One of the abilities that is measured is cognitive ability. Cognitive ability involves the thinking process in the form of generally recognizing depicted objects and can be expressed in ideas, responses, or values. This mathematics learning activity also certainly involves problems in solving mathematical story problems. The procedure for solving story problems certainly involves steps for resolution, namely by using problem-solving according to Polya's theory. This research aims to describe students' cognitive abilities in solving word problems based on Polya's theory. The research instrument used in this study was a test, confirmed through interviews. The research results show that students with moderate ability are unable to solve problems in the cognitive category of applying (calculating indicator) and creating (designing indicator) especially in the Polya stage of checking, because the checking process is not found in their answer sheets. Meanwhile, students with low ability also cannot solve problems in the applying cognitive category (calculating indicator) and creating cognitive category (designing indicator), and are unable to solve story problems using Polya's stages of planning, executing, and checking. Thus, it can be concluded that students' ability to solve LOTS and HOTS questions is still at a low level because they find it difficult to work on questions in the cognitive domains of applying and creating.

Abstract

Abstract: Problem-solving ability is one of the aspects that is highly needed by students during the mathematics learning process. Cognitive styles are divided into two, namely field independent (FI) and field dependent (FD) cognitive styles. This research was conducted with the aim of describing the mathematical problem-solving abilities of fourth-grade elementary school students based on Field Independent (FI) and Field Dependent (FD) cognitive styles. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive. The data collection techniques included the Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT), problem-solving ability tests, and interviews. The research subjects consisted of 4 students based on the results of the cognitive style test, namely 2 students with a field-independent cognitive style, and 2 students with a field-dependent cognitive style. The research results show that there is a difference in mathematical problem-solving abilities between subjects with a field-independent cognitive style (FI) and subjects with a field-dependent cognitive style (FD). Subjects with FI cognitive style were able to meet the problem-solving ability indicators according to Polya well in each question, namely understanding the problem, planning the solution, and executing the solution plan. However, there is one indicator that has not been met by the subjects, which is the indicator of rechecking. Subjects with FD cognitive style in each question have not yet been able to meet the problem-solving ability indicators according to Polya. FD subjects have not been able to understand the problem in the question, have not been able to plan the solution, have not been able to execute the solution plan, and have not been able to check the calculation results or final results.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a teaching module on fractions for 5th-grade elementary school students, designed using a realistic approach and tailored for implementation within the framework of the Merdeka Curriculum. The development research employed the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), which was evaluated through expert validation of media and content, as well as student interest response and teacher practicality response regarding the module. The validation results from both media and content experts indicated that the developed module was highly suitable, with percentage scores of 94% and 95%, respectively. Additionally, student responses to the learning experiences facilitated by teachers using the developed module were highly positive, ranging from interested to highly interested. Moreover, teacher responses regarding the practicality, effectiveness, efficiency, and creativity of the developed module obtained a percentage score of 98%, signifying excellent quality. These research findings demonstrate that the developed teaching module is both suitable and practical for use by teachers in teaching fractions to 5th-grade elementary school students, with the learning experiences facilitated by this module receiving positive responses from students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out and analyze the collaboration of actors in the implementation of stunting handling policies in Landak Regency. This research was conducted with qualitative methods, with the type of descriptive research. The results of the study indicate that the collaboration of actors in the implementation of stunting handling policies in Landak Regency has not run effectively, there was still sectoral ego and there is no willingness by the authorities and interested parties to cooperate with each other in handling stunting problems. Actors involved in handling stunting still seem to give the responsibility for handling stunting to the Health Office, while other agencies tend to be passive, while it is known that the problem of stunting is not only related to nutrition, but also relates to the behavior and awareness of the village community towards a healthy lifestyle, especially in rural areas. with high stunting rates. So far, the handling of stunting by related parties has been echoed more at the bureaucratic level, but has not been conveyed conceptually and operationally in the field, especially with the village government and village communities, so that village officials have not been able to actively participate in it. The community in collaboration is still positioned as an object and not a subject, so that the community still has a strong dependence on directives, instructions or socialization from the government.
