Abstract

One of the Islamic social financial instruments is waqf, which contributes to the welfare of the community by retaining the principal of waqf and providing the proceeds to people in need. Waqf when integrated with the tourism sector can improve the community's economy and support the creation of Halal tourism destinations. This research aims to explain the contribution of productive waqf to be optimal in the development of sustainable Halal tourism. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Waqf management is allowed with any mechanism that does not violate Islamic law. The stages of productive waqf management to be more efficient are to design in detail the goals or objectives of the project to be carried out, then realize the project, and conduct regular monitoring so that the project can run sustainably. The integration of productive waqf with the tourism sector is not only to increase the contribution in the economic aspect, but also to educate the public about the ease of waqf. To optimize the integration of productive waqf in Halal tourism, the government and stakeholders must work together, while also continuing to improve the quality of human resources in terms of management so that it becomes sustainable. Then an optimal branding and marketing strategy is carried out.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of economic growth and renewable energy on environmental sustainability in Indonesia. By applying the VECM analysis technique and data from 1990-2018 it was found that in the long term economic growth, renewable energy and natural resource extraction have an effect on environmental sustainability. The use of ecological footprint indicators is the main focus in this study because there are still very few studies that describe environmental sustainability in Indonesia from the perspective of the ecological footprint. This research provides impetus for the government to continue to strive for better renewable energy by seeing how important it is for environmental sustainability in Indonesia

Abstract

Limited access to financing, followed by the difficulty in the absorption of crop yields, is still a fundamental problem for farmers. This study proposes an integrated agricultural low-cost financing model based on cash waqf along with its parameters and risk mitigation. The proposed model is developed from a literature review underpinned by in-depth interviews with 17 experts (regulators, academia, and practitioners), followed by a Focus Group Discussion, and finally validated by the key experts. Findings reveal that cash waqf fund could be used as a low-cost financing with several risk mitigation procedures to finance farmers who have hardship accessing financing. Through institutional engineering, a nazhir (overseer) will involve a specialist vehicle in developing a value chain to facilitate off-takers ready to buy farmers' crops at competitive prices. The proposed model employs Mudharaba-Salam and Ijara schemes. The associated risks can be mitigated by a comprehensive feasibility study, using takaful/guarantee or reserve funds and financial restructuring. This model is expected to improve farmer welfare and national food security and deepen inclusive Islamic financial products in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

Waqf-based development is in line with the goals of the SDGs. Waqf institutions play an important role in actualizing the SDGs targets including point 16 which is peace, justice and strong institutions. This study aims to design and propose a waqf model for SDGs point 16 peace, justice, and strong institutions in the world by combining the concept of waqf with the activities of related institutions. This research proposes that the best waqf-SDGs model for point 16 is the integrated Waqf & ZIS model. This model is a type of waqf that is social in nature, where waqf is collaborated with ZIS instruments. So that the utilization of this instrument is suitable for social purposes. The implementation of the waqf models that have been proposed with their respective priorities can potentially become an Islamic social fund instrument that participates in supporting the SDGs to ensure that all humans can enjoy a prosperous life and advance economically, socially, and technologically in harmony with nature.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the Islamic Corporate Governance (ICG) model of entrepreneurship-based cash waqf. Using qualitative research methods and a multi-case study approach, research data were obtained primarily (in-depth interviews), online report documentation, journal articles, and books. Data analysis conclude that the ICG model of entrepreneurship-based cash waqf is built from a unique waqf membership model (waqf donations come from the company's Corporate Social Responsibility), determination of special donors, and determination of beneficiaries of waqf productivity funds in public facilities development programs that are integrated with entrepreneurial activities. This study recommends the issuance of entrepreneurship-based cash waqf shares, both permanent and temporary.

Abstract

This study aims to design a conceptualization of the waqf program crowdfunding system implemented by an online donation platform and strategies for increasing waqf digitization. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method by collecting data through in-depth interviews with application managers, waqf institutions’ leaders, donors, and documentation. The results of this study show that the crowdfunding system runs through the stages of the waqf program proposal, verification of publications and socialization of the waqf program. The donation platform’s strategy in increasing the digitization of waqf includes providing access to waqf institutions for program approvals, notification of sustainable programs, additional features of Islamic studies on the application, digital publications of creative waqf programs, surveys of digital waqf program locations, creation of digital content and videos of waqf activities. In addition, other strategies include solicitations and response and input spaces on the application. The crowdfunding system implemented by the Amalsholeh platform can help waqf institutions find donors and increase community interest in online waqf or digitalization of waqf. Keywords: crowdfunding system, waqf, waqf digitization strategy.
