Abstract

Stunting is a type of malnutrition that has an impact on the growth and development of children that is not optimal. Fulfilling nutritional adequacy through local food is the right effort to prevent the occurrence of stunting. The use of local food that has high nutritional value at affordable prices can be a solution to solving nutritional problems. Fish is a local food ingredient fulfilling the nutritional adequacy of children through the use of local food, namely fish can be an alternative to solving stunting problems. The activities carried out were in the form of counseling on the use of local food to prevent stunting using flyer media. The service activity was carried out in Sungai Pinang Village, Banyuasin Regency in December 2023. The target of the activity was pregnant women, baby mothers and mothers of toddlers as many as 30 people. The results of the activity showed that the average value of maternal nutrition knowledge before being given counseling was 37.00 and increased to 81.00 after being given counseling. Counseling is expected to help mothers in increasing knowledge that will affect maternal nutritional attitudes and behaviors in efforts to prevent stunting.

Abstract

Observation results in Blang Beurandang Village, Johan Pahlawan, West Aceh, in 2025 revealed several cases of malnutrition in toddlers, specifically three toddlers experiencing stunting, two toddlers experiencing wasting, and two toddlers being underweight. As a result, it not only inhibits the physical and cognitive growth of children but can even cause death. One effort to overcome this is to provide nutrition education. This community service activity was carried out in Blang Beurandang Village, Johan Pahlawan, involving mothers of toddlers and village cadres. The method used is Community Rural Participatory, including the assessment stages (recapitulation of initial anthropometric measurement data and secondary data), planning stages (educational media, PMT), and implementation stages (measuring the level of knowledge of the target group using pretest-posttest before and after being given counseling). The results of the activity showed the highest prevalence, namely underweight at 18.42%, followed by stunting at 15.79%, wasting at 7.89%, and the lowest, namely obesity and overnutrition at 2.63%. Then, in measuring the level of knowledge among mothers about stunting, wasting, underweight, and the role of PMT, with a total of 14 mothers of toddlers as respondents, an increase in knowledge was observed after nutrition counselling, specifically from 7.1% of respondents with good knowledge, increasing to 57.1%. PMT products, in the form of chicken-filled tempeh balls, were well received by the target group during the activity. However, ongoing mentoring, monitoring, and education efforts are necessary to ensure that knowledge about nutrition and PMT processing is effectively applied in everyday life, particularly in the practice of providing food to children and managing family food.

Abstract

Status gizi balita, indikator krusial kesehatan masyarakat, dipengaruhi pengetahuan ibu dan riwayat penyakit infeksi. Malnutrisi (stunting, wasting) masih menjadi tantangan global dan nasional. Penelitian ini menganalisis hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu, kejadian ISPA, dan status gizi balita di Kecamatan Meukek, Aceh Selatan. Desain kuantitatif cross-sectional digunakan, melibatkan 60 pasangan ibu-balita. Data dikumpulkan via wawancara terstruktur dan antropometri, lalu dianalisis univariat serta bivariat dengan uji Chi-Square. Hasil menunjukkan pengetahuan ibu rendah (13,3%) berhubungan signifikan dengan gizi kurang pada balita (p=0,0294). Riwayat ISPA balita (88,3%) juga berhubungan signifikan dengan gizi kurang (p=0,0352). Mayoritas balita dengan riwayat ISPA memiliki gizi kurang, menegaskan dampak penyakit pada nutrisi. Intervensi edukasi gizi ibu dan program pencegahan ISPA direkomendasikan untuk meningkatkan status gizi balita secara holistik, mengatasi kesenjangan praktik di wilayah ini.

Abstract

The activeness of visits to the posyandu is crucial for monitoring children's health and nutrition by regularly weighing toddlers' weight with the Kartu Menuju Sehat (KMS, or Healthy Growth Card). This study aims to determine the factors related to mothers' visits with their toddlers to Posyandu Permata Hati in Drien Rampak Village, West Aceh Regency, in 2024. The quantitative study uses an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consists of all mothers with toddlers aged 0-59 months, with a total sampling method of 87 mothers. The instrument used a questionnaire covering all variables, including maternal knowledge, education, occupation, family support, and visits to the posyandu. The analysis uses the Chi-Square test. The results show no relationship between maternal knowledge (p=1.000) and education (p=1.000), but there is a relationship between maternal occupation (p=0.004) and family support (p=0.000) with visits to the posyandu. The suggestion for the posyandu is to hold regular educational activities to increase mothers' awareness of the importance of visiting the posyandu. For working mothers or those with various other activities, it's essential to schedule time to bring their toddlers to the posyandu.

Abstract

Makanan pendamping ASI (MPASI) sangat penting untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan gizi anak. Praktik pemberian makanan pendamping ASI (MPASI) yang tepat dapat mencegah anak mengalami malnutrisi. Ibu harus memiliki pengetahuan, sikap dan perilaku gizi yang baik untuk menerapkan praktik pemberian makan pada anak. Pendidikan gizi berupa konseling dan penyuluhan adalah upaya yang tepat untuk memperbaiki kondisi tersebut. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan di Dusun 6 Sungai Pinang Kabupaten Banyuasin pada 30 ibu yang memiliki anak usia 6-11 bulan. Pelaksanaan kegiatan selama 2 bulan yaitu November-Desember 2023. Tahapan kegiatan terdiri dari persiapan, pelaksanaan dan pelaporan. Metode pendidikan gizi yang digunakan adalah konseling dan penyuluhan. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengetahui ketepatan pemberian makan adalah kuesioner. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji Mc Nemar. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan ketepatan pemberian makanan pendamping ASI (MPASI) pada ibu sebelum dan setelah pemberian intervensi dengan p value 0,000. Pendidikan gizi berupa konseling dan penyuluhan dapat memperbaiki praktik pemberian makanan pendamping ASI (MPASI) baik dari jenis, porsi dan tekstur makanan.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical developmental period marked by hormonal changes, including the onset of menstruation. Dysmenorrhea is a common complaint among adolescent girls and may be influenced by knowledge and dietary behavior. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between dysmenorrhea knowledge and eating behavior on the incidence of dysmenorrhea among female students at SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Banyak, Aceh Singkil District. This research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 77 students selected using total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most respondents had low knowledge of dysmenorrhea (38%) and poor eating behavior (56.5%). The majority experienced severe dysmenorrhea (78.3%). Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between dysmenorrhea knowledge and the incidence of dysmenorrhea (p = 0.000) and between eating behavior and dysmenorrhea incidence (p = 0.000). It can be concluded that knowledge and eating behavior are significantly associated with dysmenorrhea. Health education and balanced nutrition promotion interventions should be strengthened in schools to reduce the prevalence of dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Nutritional problems remain a significant public health challenge, encompassing both undernutrition and overnutrition, which affect quality of life and productivity. Stress levels and physical activity are factors that may influence nutritional status, particularly among final-year students who often face high academic pressure. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between stress levels and physical activity with nutritional status among final-year students of the 2021 cohort at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Teuku Umar University. This research employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 142 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling technique from a population of 220 students. Stress levels were measured using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-42), physical activity using the Physical Activity Level (PAL), and nutritional status based on Body Mass Index (BMI). The data were analyzed using Spearman correlation with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed that most respondents had normal nutritional status (64.1%), experienced severe stress (38%), and had light physical activity (35.2%). Statistical analysis revealed no significant relationship between stress levels and nutritional status (r = -0.068, p = 0.425), nor between physical activity and nutritional status (r = 0.030, p = 0.722). These findings suggest that nutritional status among students may be influenced by other factors beyond stress and physical activity. Therefore, it is recommended that students maintain healthy eating habits and balanced lifestyles despite academic pressures, while further research should explore additional determinants of student nutritional status.

Abstract

Stunting is a nutritional problem that significantly impacts the quality of human resources. The risk of stunting can occur even during pregnancy. Therefore, proper nutritional education is needed, especially for target groups like pregnant women, to prevent stunting early. Emo Demo (Emotional Demonstration) is an engaging and interactive educational method that directly involves the emotions of the target group, which can influence behavioral changes. This study aims to determine the effect of Emo Demo on stunting prevention behavior in pregnant women. A quasi-experimental design using the One Group Pretest-Posttest method was employed. The study was conducted in the working area of Puskesmas Satu Ulu, Palembang City, South Sumatra Province, in 2023. The research subjects were 30 pregnant women in the first, second, and third trimesters, selected using purposive sampling. The Wilcoxon signed ranks test results showed a change in values before and after the Emo Demo practice was given. Positive Ranks with an N value of 30 indicate that all respondents experienced an increase in pretest and posttest scores related to stunting prevention behavior. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is an effect of Emo Demo on stunting prevention behavior in the group of pregnant women with a (p-value < 0.05).

Abstract

Background: Adolescents with poor nutritional status will have an impact on low intelligence, productivity and body immunity, while higher nutritional status can cause an increased risk of non-communicable diseases. Research Method: This research is an analytical research with a cross sectional research design. The research uses primary data, namely data collected by the researcher himself in the form of data on general characteristics, balanced nutritional behavior and nutritional status of adolescents. The research also used secondary data from IKesT Muhammadiyah Palembang for the number of undergraduate students in Nutrition at IkesT Muhammadiyah Palembang. Results: Based on the results of statistical tests, it shows that there is a relationship between balanced nutritional behavior and adolescent nutritional status (p value = 0.000). The level of strength of the relationship is strong with a correlation coefficient value of 0.597. The variable relationship is unidirectional, which means that the better the balanced nutritional behavior, the better the nutritional status. Conclusion: The results of the study show that there is a relationship between balanced nutritional behavior and adolescent nutritional status, p-value 0.000 < 0.05. Balanced nutritional behavior can help teenagers maintain normal nutritional status and prevent nutritional problems

Abstract

ABSTRAKPertumbuhan seorang anak sangat dipengaruhi oleh konsumsi makanan sehingga mempengaruhi status gizi anak. Status gizi baik terjadi bila tubuh memperoleh cukup zat-zat gizi yang digunakan secara efisien sehingga memungkinkan pertumbuhan fisik, perkembangan otak, kemampuan kerja dan kesehatan secara umum. Untuk menjaga status gizi anak tetap baik maka sebaiknya diberikan makanan yang bergizi seimbang, menerapkan perilaku hidup bersih, serta mendapatkan pola asuh dan pelayanan kesehatan yang baik. Masalah yang dihadapi oleh mitra TK Angel Hearts adalah layanan makan siang atau kudapan yang disajikan belum memenuhi syarat gizi seimbang hal ini karena kurangnya pengetahuan guru/pendamping dan juru masak yang ada di sekolah tentang gizi seimbang bagi anak usia dini. Untuk itu, tim PKM menawarkan solusi yaitu pelatihan dan pendampingan bagi guru/pendamping, dan juru masak untuk menambah pengetahuan gizi seimbang dalam menyiapkan makan siang dan kudapan sehat untuk anak usia dini serta siklus menu makanan 5 hari lengkap. Hasil dari pelatihan dan pendampingan yang dilakukan di TK Angel Hearts yaitu antusias guru/pendamping dan juru masak untuk terus hadir dalam pelatihan serta 90% dari jumlah guru telah memiliki pengetahuan gizi yang sangat baik hasilnya. Selain itu, adanya buku siklus menu makanan dapat menjadi panduan dalam memberikan makanan bergizi seimbang bagi anak TK Angel Hearts.Kata kunci: anak usia dini, gizi seimbang, taman kanak-kanakABSTRACTThe growth of a child is significantly influenced by food consumption that result the affects of child’s nutritional status. Good nutritional status occurs when body gets enough nutrients that are used efficiently to enable physical growth, brain development, work ability and general health. To maintain good nutritional status, children should be given balance food nutrition, implementing clean living behaviors, good parenting, and good health services. The problem faced by Angel Hearts Kindergarten partners is that the lunch or snack menu served does not meet the requirements of balanced nutrition, this is due to the lack of knowledge of teachers / teacher’s assistants and cooks in schools about balanced nutrition for early childhood. Thus the PKM team offers solutions namely training and mentoring for teachers / facilitators, and cooks to increase knowledges of balanced nutrition in preparing healthy lunches and snacks for early childhood as well as a complete 5-day food menu cycle. The results of the training and mentoring conducted at the Angel Hearts Kindergarten are enthusiastic teachers and mentors continue to attend the training as well as 90% of the number of teachers already have an excellent nutritional knowledge results. In addition, a food menu cycle book can be used as a guide on providing nutritionally balanced meals for Angel Hearts Kindergarten children.Keywords: early childhood, balanced nutrition, kindergarten
