Abstract

Community Service (KKN) is an educational approach that offers students actual experience by immersing them in society beyond the school, thereby instructing them on how to detect social issues affecting the community. Community service will explicitly demonstrate the correlation between the educational sphere and its societal advantages. The undertaken activity involves the production of rice husk charcoal, which serves as a planting medium. Rice husk is an agricultural byproduct, constituting the outermost layer of rice grains generated during the milling process. Rice plants are among the commodities cultivated in Ciamis Village. Rice milling byproducts, specifically rice husks, can serve multiple functions such as raw materials for animal feed, growth substrates, and alternative energy sources. The Ciamis Village community's ignorance about the advantages of rice husks results in suboptimal utilisation of rice husks derived from rice milling waste. Generally, individuals utilise rice husks as supplementary animal feed, particularly for poultry. The objective of this rice husk charcoal production initiative is to disseminate knowledge regarding the utilisation of agricultural waste, specifically rice husks, as a planting medium. The activity's implementation indicates that the village apparatus positively embraced the use of rice husk charcoal waste, as they supported students by supplying raw materials, specifically rice husks, and providing land for the application of rice husk charcoal in raised beds. In the long term, the use of rice husk charcoal as a planting medium is anticipated to enhance food security for the inhabitants of Ciamis Village.

Abstract

The shallot development initiative by the North Lampung Regency administration aims to enhance the welfare of vegetable producers and satisfy local shallot demand. The evolution of a commodity is affected by its input and output prices, which in turn impact the profits earned by farmers. The government's policies influence the input and output pricing for farmers. Shallots, as an emerging product in North Lampung Regency, require analysis to ascertain their potential financial and economic benefits, which indicate the competitiveness of shallots in the region. This research aims to evaluate the competitiveness of shallots by examining comparative and competitive advantages, as well as the influence of government policies on their competitiveness in North Lampung Regency. The employed analytical instrument is the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) approach. The cultivation of shallots in Lampung Utara Regency exhibits strong competitiveness on both competitive and comparative advantages. Consequently, the cultivation of shallots in Lampung Utara Regency merits advancement. Government measures, exemplified by input subsidies like fertilizer subsidies, can incentivize farmers by lowering the production costs associated with shallot cultivation. There is a necessity for output strategies that bolster shallot cultivation in North Lampung Regency, namely ensuring market certainty for shallot commodities and maintaining stable, equitable prices for shallots. Furthermore, farmers require information and direction on shallot cultivation to produce superior shallot products. Diversifying products derived from shallot commodities can serve as a strategy to ensure market stability for shallot commodities.

Abstract

Abstract

This article discusses a predator-prey model with a ratio-dependent functional response and harvesting in both populations.  The differential equation of predator-prey model is discretized using the Euler method. The dynamics of the obtained discrete time model are investigated by determining the fixed points as well as their stability properties, and bifurcation analysis. Bifurcation analysis shows that the discrete time model can experience bifurcation, both period-doubling bifurcation and Neimark-Sacker bifurcation, when the value of time-integration step  passes a critical value. The analysis results have been confirmed by our numerical simulation results presented at the end of this article.
