Abstract

Genetic-based management is a critical approach to maintain the sustainability of mahseer fish (Tor tambra and T. tambroides), which are facing threats from habitat degradation and overfishing in Jambi Province. This study aims to analyze the genetic diversity and population structure of mahseer using the COI gene markers. A total of 18 specimens were collected from six locations in the Jambi rivers (June-August 2024). DNA sequencing results showed 98.51–99.85% similarity to the references T. tambra and T. tambroides in GenBank. Phylogenetic analysis confirmed the grouping of this species, with a bootstrap value of 100% and closeness to the species Barbonymus gonionotus and Hampala macrolepidota. There were 11 haplotypes with the highest diversity at stations 3 and 6 (Hd= 0.90000), while moderate genetic differentiation (Fst= 0.109–0.141) was found between station 2 and other locations, indicating isolation due to habitat fragmentation. Water quality parameters (dissolved oxygen 6.3–7.1 mg/L, pH 7.0–7.3, current velocity 0.2–0.4 m/s) support habitat suitability, but anthropogenic activities potentially threaten genetic connectivity. These findings underscore the need for genetic data-driven conservation strategies, such as restocking of highly diverse populations and protection of critical habitats. Further research is needed to monitor long-term genetic dynamics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital education innovation based on Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic Boarding Schools in the Bangka Belitung Islands. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, where data is collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively with the Interactive Analysis Model from Miles & Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and data verification. The study results indicate that the commitment of Islamic boarding school management is significant in providing adequate digital infrastructure for learning. Implementing TQM in Islamic boarding schools requires the involvement of all elements of the school, including managers, teachers, and students. Designing a digital-based curriculum that integrates local wisdom also plays a role in maintaining Islamic boarding school values while meeting the demands of technological developments. In addition, enhancing resource capacity, especially teachers, through technology training is the key to success in implementing digital media. Focusing on user satisfaction, both students and teachers, is also essential to ensure the success of digital learning. The implications of this study indicate that implementing digital-based TQM in Islamic boarding schools not only strengthens the quality of education but also introduces a technology-based approach relevant to the needs of the times without ignoring the traditional values of Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

Pangkajene dan Kepulauan regency are one of the blue swimming crabs fishing center and processing located in South Sulawesi. This research is conducted to analyze the biological aspect and the usage status of blue swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) on the coast of Pangkajene dan Kepulauan regency. Data collection used a survey method by conducting interviews with fishermen, observing research sites and measuring crabs directly in the field. Samplings were obtained twice a month from November 2018 to April 2019. 7200 Portunus crabs from the fisherman were randomly selected to measure the size and the weight which consists of 3900 male and 3300 female crabs from different districts were Pangkajene, Bungoro, Labakkang, Ma’rang, Segeri, and Mandalle. The measurement result are then analyzed using Microsoft Excel program and ELEFAN I method in FISAT II program. The result showed that the maximum age of blue swimming crab predicted can reach 4 years, with the natural mortality (M) of Portunus male crabs is 0.67 and female crabs 0.82 per year then fishing mortality (F) is 3.54 and 4.12 per year. The total mortality (Z) is 4.20 and 4.94 per year with the exploitation rate (E) around 0.84 and 0.83. Therefore, based on the system dynamics model of non-equilibrium fish biomass resulted that the biology status of blue swimming crabs on Pangkep regency has reached the overfishing condition.

Abstract

In this study, as a data-poor fish stock assessment method CMSY was used to assess the current stock status of the Sword Prawn in Samboja Waters. A total of 13 years catch data (from 2012 to 2024) was used in the analysing process of study. Estimated CMSY model parameters with confidence intervals are as folloe: r=0.47 (0.29-0.7) year-1, k=14.9 (10.1-22) ton, MSY=1.75 (1.23-2.36) ton, B2024=4.2 (0.43-5.89) ton, BMSY=7.45 (5.05-11) ton, F2024=0.28 (0.2-2.71) year-1, FMSY=0.23 (0.14-0.38) year-1, B2024/BMSY=0.56 (0.05-0.79) and F2024/FMSY=1.18 (0.84-11.4). Our study has found that sword prawn population in Samboja waters has been decline due to overfishing since 2017. Until now, regulations regarding catch quotas have not been established or implemented. Therefore, it is recommended to create regulations related to catch quotas based on research findings and reduce fishing mortality to maintain populations and prevent further biomass decline.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the distribution of Cherax quadricarinatus based on depth and evaluate its invasiveness using a risk assessment in Lake Laut Tawar, Central Aceh. The study was conducted at five stations representing various lake activities: Station 1 (One-One), Station 2 (Bewang), Station 3 (Gegarang), Station 4 (Mendale), and Station 5 (Dedalu). The methodology involved direct observation in the field followed by laboratory analysis. The results showed that 284 individuals were caught, consisting of 138 females and 146 males, with carapace lengths ranging from 20 to 76 mm. No consistent distribution of male and female carapace lengths was observed across all stations. The abundance of Cherax quadricarinatus in Lake Laut Tawar was classified as very abundant (20%) at One-One and Bewang stations, both at a depth of 5 meters. In conclusion, Cherax quadricarinatus significantly dominates the lake ecosystem, as indicated by its relative abundance at different depths across the study sites. This species also shows a high potential for invasion in freshwater lakes, highlighting the need for effective management strategies. Keywords:Cherax quadricarinatusInvasive spesiesLake Laut Tawar, Aceh
