Abstract

Abstract Problem solving ability is one of the abilities that students must have in learning mathematics. Teachers can make an effort to improve mathematical problem-solving abilities by using a learning model that encourages students to develop problem-solving abilities. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the problem-based learning model for improving the mathematical problem-solving abilities of class XI TKL SMK Negeri 4 Semarang for the 2023/2024 academic year. The research method used in this research is an experimental method with a pre-experimental design type. The population in this study was all class XI TKL. The sample in this research was class XI TKL 1 which was selected using purposive sampling. This research uses pretest and posttest data. The results of the research are that the problem-based learning model assisted by interactive LKPD is effective in improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities which can be shown from: 1) Students' mathematical problem solving abilities are better after using the problem based learning model assisted by interactive LKPD, 2)students' completeness is fulfilled, 3) students' classical learning completeness is 88.,56%, 4) the increase in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities increased by 0.6 in the medium category. Abstrak Kemampuan pemecahan masalah merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang harus dimiliki siswa dalam belajar matematika. Salah satu upaya yang bisa dilakukan guru untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yaitu menggunakan model pembelajaran yang mendorong siswa mengembangkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas model pembelajaran problem baased learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas XI TKL SMK Negeri 4 Semarang Tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan jenis pre ekperimental desain. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh kelas XI TKL. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu kelas XI TKL 1 yang dipilih dengan Teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan data pretest dan posttest. Hasil dari penelitan yaitu model problem baased learning berbantuan LKPD Interaktif efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matemais siswa yang dapat ditunjukkan dari: 1) kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa lebih baik setelah menggunakan model pembelajaran problem based learning berbantuan LKPD interaktif, 2) ketuntasan belajar individual siswa terpenuhi, 3) ketuntasan belajar klasikal siswa sebesar 88,56%, 4) peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa meningkat sebesar 0,6 dalam kategori sedang.

Abstract

Pembelajaran abad ke-21 menekankan pentingnya mengembangkan keterampilan siswa, termasuk dalam mata pelajaran matematika. Namun, hasil belajar matematika di Indonesia masih rendah, terutama karena pendekatan pembelajaran yang kurang efektif dan beragam. Penelitian ini menerapkan Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dengan dukungan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berbasis Kontekstual pada Materi Barisan dan Deret untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Melalui penelitian tindakan kelas di SMK N 07 Semarang, hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pencapaian siswa. Dari hanya 22,2% siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan minimal sebelumnya, peningkatan pesat terjadi setelah menerapkan PBL dengan LKPD, mencapai 86,1% pada siklus kedua. Hasil ini menunjukkan potensi besar model pembelajaran tersebut dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Integrasi PBL dengan LKPD berbasis kontekstual disarankan dalam kurikulum untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar secara menyeluruh dengan memperhatikan pelatihan guru dan pengembangan materi yang sesuai.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is a global health issue that significantly impacts adolescents, a vulnerable group prone to risky behaviors such as unprotected sexual intercourse. The lack of knowledge is a key factor contributing to the increased risk of transmission. Therefore, effective health education interventions are essential to address this problem, with one promising approach being health promotion through audiovisual media. This study aims to assess the impact of audiovisual media on improving HIV/AIDS knowledge among 11th-grade students at SMA PGRI 2 Banjarmasin. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The entire population of 112 students was selected using a total sampling technique. The data collection tool was a questionnaire that was tested for validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test, as the data were not normally distributed. Prior to the intervention, most students (85.7%) had low levels of knowledge about HIV/AIDS. Following the intervention, all students (100%) demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge, reaching a high level. The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.001 (p<0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect. These findings suggest that audiovisual media is a highly effective method for improving adolescents’ knowledge about HIV/AIDS. It serves as both an engaging and preventive educational strategy, making it an important tool in promoting awareness and reducing the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission among youth.

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes and engagement through the implementation of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach combined with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The TaRL approach focuses on teaching that is appropriate to each student's ability level, while PBL encourages students to actively solve relevant problems, so that it is expected to improve student engagement and learning outcomes. This study was conducted in the form of classroom action research (CAR) consisting of two cycles. Each cycle includes the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. In the first cycle, the results of student learning completion reached 64%. After reflection and improvement in the first cycle, it was continued with the second cycle which showed an increase in student learning completion to 78%. There was a difference in increase of 14% between the first and second cycles. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the TaRL approach combined with the PBL model can effectively improve student learning outcomes and engagement. The increase in learning completion from the first cycle to the second cycle illustrates that this approach and model are able to accommodate differences in student abilities and facilitate more effective and interesting learning. Thus, the TaRL approach and the PBL model can be used as effective learning strategies to improve the quality of education in the classroom.

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika siswa akan lebih bermakna ketika materi berkaitan dengan kondisi yang sesuai dengan apa yang ada di sekitarnya. Pentingnya penelitian ini dilakukan karena Menara Kudus yang merupakan salah satu peninggalan budaya dapat dilestarikan melalui pembelajaran disekolah sebagai sumber belajar yang bermakna bagi siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dan memperdalam etnomatematika di Menara Kudus sebagai sumber belajar bagi siswa. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dan pencatatan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Objek pengamatan pada kegiatan ini adalah bangunan Menara Kudus. Simpulan dari penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa geometri yang terdapat pada bangunan Menara kudus adalah bagian dasar menara yang menampilkan banyak dekorasi batu bata dan dapat dimodelkaan menggunakan geometri persegi panjang, persegi, segitiiga, dan berlian. Untuk badan menara dimodelkan pelat dan batu bata menggunakan geometri lingkaran,  persegi panjang, dan berlian. Sebaliknya tangga tower dengan dinding dan pintu dapat dimodelkan sebagai trapesium, segitiga sama kaki, segitiga siku-siku, trapesium. Students' mathematics learning will be more meaningful when the material is related to conditions that are in accordance with what is around them. The importance of this research is that the Menara Kudus, which is one of the cultural heritages, can be preserved through learning at school as a meaningful learning resource for students. This research aims to explore and deepen ethnomathematics at Menara Kudus as a learning resource for students. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research type with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques use observation and recording. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The object of observation in this activity is the Menara Kudus building. The conclusion from this research is that the geometry found in the Menara Kudus building is the base of the tower which displays many brick decorations and can be modeled using rectangular, square, triangle and diamond geometries. For the tower body, plates and bricks were modeled using circle, rectangle and diamond geometry. On the other hand, tower stairs with walls and doors can be modeled as trapezoids, isosceles triangles, right triangles, trapezoids.

Abstract

Screen time yang tinggi dan aktivitas fisik yang rendah sering dikaitkan dengan masalah status gizi pada remaja, tercermin dari prevalensi obesitas usia 13–15 tahun di Kalimantan Selatan sebesar 3,91% dengan angka tertinggi di Kota Banjarmasin yaitu 8,38%, yang melampaui rata-rata provinsi dan mendekati target nasional RAN-PG dan SDGs (<15%). Perubahan gaya hidup akibat penggunaan gawai dan kurangnya aktivitas fisik berpotensi memengaruhi keseimbangan energi tubuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan screen time dan aktivitas fisik dengan status gizi pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 10 Banjarmasin. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain cross sectional. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 101 siswa dengan sampel sebanyak 81 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Pengukuran screen time dilakukan menggunakan QueST, aktivitas fisik diukur dengan IPAQ-SF, sedangkan status gizi ditentukan berdasarkan Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT). Analisis data menggunakan uji Spearman Rho. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden memiliki screen time kategori tinggi sebanyak 61 siswa (75,3%), hampir setengah responden memiliki aktivitas fisik rendah sebanyak 41 siswa (50,6%), dan sebagian besar responden memiliki status gizi kategori baik sebanyak 31 siswa (38,3%). Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan tidak terdapat hubungan antara screen time dengan status gizi (p value=0,622; r=-0,056) maupun antara aktivitas fisik dengan status gizi (p value=0,427; r=0,090). Pendekatan kesehatan yang komprehensif perlu diperkuat untuk mendukung pemeliharaan status gizi remaja. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk menggunakan desain longitudinal serta mempertimbangkan faktor lain, seperti pola makan dan penyakit guna memperoleh gambaran hubungan yang lebih komprehensif.

Abstract

Background: Mathematics education in vocational schools faces challenges in fostering students’ creative thinking, particularly in understanding abstract concepts and generating alternative solutions. Classroom practices often emphasize procedural replication, while teachers encounter difficulties in addressing diverse learning needs, highlighting the need for innovative, contextual, and culturally responsive approaches. Aims: This study aims to strengthen vocational students’ creative thinking in mathematics by designing an integrated instructional model that combines pedagogy, technology, and cultural elements. Methods: A qualitative design thinking approach was applied through the stages of Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test/Evaluate. Data were collected using questionnaires, interviews, and classroom observations to identify student and teacher needs. The proposed model was further examined through a meta-analysis using effect size calculations to synthesize findings from relevant empirical studies. Results: The findings indicate that students need more flexible, innovative, and culturally meaningful learning experiences. An instructional prototype, Gema-Batik, was developed by integrating Project-Based Learning, ethnomathematics, GeoGebra, and jBatik within a design thinking framework. The model emphasizes problem orientation, exploration, digital modeling, motif creation, and presentation, targeting creative thinking indicators such as fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Meta-analytic results show a high pooled effect size, indicating strong potential to enhance creative thinking and related competencies. Conclusion: The Gema-Batik model offers a novel, culturally grounded, and technology-integrated approach that contributes both theoretically and practically to vocational mathematics education, particularly in fostering creative thinking aligned with the demands of creative industries.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the discovery learning approach for teaching mathematics has an effect on students' learning outcomes. This study is quantitative descriptive research with a pre-experiment, one-group pretest-posttest research design. The research subjects consisted of 31 students from class IXA at junior high school 36 Semarang. The students took a pretest before the implementation of the discovery learning model, and then a posttest was given after the implementation to measure the enhancement of students' learning outcomes. Pretest and Posttest findings revealed an increase in the average scores, which were 47.41 and 80.90, respectively, and the N-Gain test results showed a score of 0.61 in the moderate category. The study's findings shed light on the usefulness of the discovery learning approach in increasing the learning outcomes of class IXA students at junior high school 36 Semarang, particularly in the field of geometry transformation. From the results of the pretest, it was found that 31 students were in the low category. After learning with the discovery learning model, a posttest was carried out with the results of 7 students who were in the low category, 17 students in the medium category, and 7 students in the high category. There were significant changes in the participants' pretest and posttest scores, validating the efficacy of discovery learning strategies. Students who received instruction using the discovery learning model, in particular, had considerably higher posttest results as compared to their pretest scores. This demonstrates a significant increase in their comprehension and application of geometry transformation ideas following participation in the discovery learning technique. Through the discovery learning approach, teachers play a critical role in promoting student-centered learning. While the discovery learning model has been shown to be helpful in improving student learning outcomes, it is critical to investigate other instructional strategies and the use of educational technologies in future research and teaching practices. Additional study should be conducted to explore the usefulness of instructional technology and to establish best practices for its integration in order to improve student accomplishment in the digital era.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap praktik etnomatematika yang terkandung dalam proses pembuatan pondasi rumah (ngijing) oleh tukang bangunan di Desa Gebang. Berangkat dari pandangan bahwa matematika merupakan praktik budaya yang hidup dalam aktivitas masyarakat, penelitian ini memfokuskan kajian pada penalaran matematis implisit yang digunakan dalam tahapan konstruksi pondasi rumah tradisional. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain etnografi. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipan, wawancara mendalam tidak terstruktur, dan dokumentasi terhadap lima orang tukang bangunan yang berpengalaman. Analisis data dilakukan secara induktif melalui tahapan analisis domain, taksonomi, komponen, dan tema. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses ngijing terdiri atas beberapa tahapan utama, yaitu pembuatan sketsa, pengukuran dan penggalian tanah, pemasangan batu pondasi (kijing), serta pengecoran. Pada setiap tahapan tersebut ditemukan penerapan konsep matematika seperti skala, perbandingan, luas, jarak, bangun datar, bangun ruang, dan rasio material yang digunakan secara konsisten tanpa simbol matematika formal. Praktik tersebut mencerminkan penalaran matematis adaptif yang berkembang dari pengalaman kerja dan transmisi budaya. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa ngijing merupakan sistem etnomatematika yang bersifat prosedural dan kontekstual, bukan sekadar aktivitas teknis konstruksi. Temuan ini berkontribusi pada penguatan teori etnomatematika serta membuka peluang pemanfaatan praktik budaya lokal sebagai konteks pembelajaran matematika yang bermakna, khususnya pada materi pengukuran, perbandingan, dan geometri.

Abstract

The results of the 2022 PISA assessment indicate that the numeracy skills of students in Indonesia remain in the low category, with a score of 366. This represents a decline from the 2018 PISA results, where Indonesia achieved a score of 379 in numeracy. The focus of educators is to enhance students' numeracy skills. This study aims to test the Team Games Tournament (TGT) theory and its application in mathematics learning. The primary objective of this research is to assess the effectiveness of implementing the cooperative TGT approach in improving students' numeracy skills, as measured by their achievement in the Assessment Competency Minimum (AKM) scores. The research employs a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest model. The study population consists of 30 participants, selected from a class of eighth-grade junior high school students using a simple random sampling technique. The research data includes pretest and posttest scores for numeracy, based on the Assessment Competency Minimum (AKM), for the participants. The data is analyzed descriptively with the assistance of SPSS version 23.0 software. Data analysis involved both descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The analysis began with a normality test, followed by a homogeneity test, and concluded with a paired sample t-test to assess the mean difference between the pretest and posttest scores. The results indicated a significant increase in the average score, from 42.33 on the pretest to 59.17 on the posttest. The implementation of the cooperative Team Games Tournament (TGT) approach proved to be effective in enhancing students' numeracy skills, as evidenced by the improvement in their numeracy AKM scores.
