Abstract

Supply Network System and Economic Value Added of Organic Coffee (A Case study of KBQ Baburayyan, Aceh Tengah District)ABSTRACT. The aim of this study is to understand the supply chain and economic value added of supply of organic coffee involving various agencies. Research has been done with a combination of surveys and focus group discussions at two points of organic coffee production centers. Results showed that supply network of raw material in Cooperative Baitul Qiradh Baburrayyan (KBQ) came from collectors contracted by the principle of partnership. Those collectors received raw materials from farmers in each cluster and they were supervised by KBQ. The supply networks of coffee in KBQ consisted of two types of channels: (a) domestic channel and (b) export channels. In the domestic channels, coffees were auctioned by inviting local buyers. Economic value added obtained by KBQ was much larger than the collectors. This is due to the more complex of roles undertaken by KBQ. Hence to increase collector and farmers' incomes, the more complex roles should be applied.

Abstract

Lambadeuk Village in Aceh Province is known for Trigona bees, which produce honey and propolis, a valuable by-product often discarded due to limited knowledge and skills for its utilization. This study evaluates the impact of soap-making workshop on community knowledge, behavior, and empowerment, employing Participatory Action Research (PAR). The program engaged 27 participants, primarily housewives and farmers, in theoretical and practical training on soap production using propolis. Pretest and posttest evaluations revealed significant improvements in participants' knowledge of soap-making processes and ingredient roles, with knowledge levels shifting from low to high. However, confidence for independent production remained modest, indicating the need for continued mentorship. By transforming Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). This program demonstrates the potential of targeted empowerment efforts to enhance community skills, reduce waste, and foster sustainable development through innovative resource utilization.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted in Lambadeuk Village, Peukan Bada District, Aceh Besar Regency, aiming to enhance the productivity of marginal land through the application of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and a chili–patchouli intercropping system. The area is dominated by Entisol soils characterized by low fertility, compact structure, and limited water availability. Two farmer groups were selected as partners based on their land ownership, activeness, and commitment to participate throughout the program. The activities included socialization, technical training, field practice, and continuous mentoring. The training materials covered liquid organic fertilizer preparation, mycorrhiza application, integrated pest management, and intercropping techniques. Results indicated noticeable improvement in soil physical properties following organic fertilizer and mycorrhiza application. The soil became looser in texture, darker in color, and visibly richer in organic matter. The patchouli plant survival rate reached 62.5%, and no significant pest attacks were recorded. Active participation of farmers in all stages demonstrated an increase in technical knowledge and practical skills related to sustainable farming. These findings suggest that integrating GAP with organic and biological soil amendments can serve as an effective approach to revitalize marginal lands and strengthen farmers’ capacity toward a more resilient and productive agricultural system.

Abstract

Kabupaten Aceh Jaya is a very potential Aceh patchouli production center. The development of the patchouli industry sector in Aceh faces serious challenges, especially the capacity building of farmers towards good agriculture practices, and innovation and technology. This study aims to identify the level of empowerment of farmers and the affecting factors. The study employed a questionnaire survey to 88 samples from 383 populations. Data analysis used a descriptive method and chi-square test. The results show that a low level of farmer empowerment is predominantly. The weakest elements are the ability to cooperate and solidarity; meanwhile, the ability to overcome obstacles is the highest, followed by the awareness and desire to change, and the ability to increase capacity to gain access. Farmer's perceptions on the group institutions, and program intervention have a significant association with empowerment, while the perception to characteristics of the social systems has no relationship. Therefore, the role of empowerment innovation is necessary for capacity building.

Abstract

Observation results show that this village is one of the river watersheds (DAS) whose springs come from the mountains, so it has the potential to be used as a freshwater fish cultivation area. Currently, the residents of Seni Antara Village generally use fish as their daily diet and obtain fish by purchasing it directly from the market and/or validating it through mobile fish sellers at competitive prices (relatively expensive) and a small portion of them search for it. own fish in the river. On the other hand, the village has the potential for land and air to be used by villagers to cultivate fish, but in reality only a few villagers do it and even then the management is not optimal. Based on the results of observations in the field and the results of the analysis of the problem situation in the field, several problem partners were found, namely: 1). Lack of community knowledge and skills regarding the biofloc cultivation system, 2). Lack of knowledge regarding processed products from fish raw materials, 3). Lack of public knowledge regarding the importance of preventing stunting by consuming healthy fish. Referring to the analysis of the results of the situation and the potential of partners and strengthened by the knowledge and experience of our team, we offer solutions that are easy, cheap and can be implemented sustainably. Implementation activities will begin with the coordination and outreach stage with partners for implementing activities, then continue with the provision of biofloc ponds and user training. This was followed by training on diversification of food products from fish, and counseling on stunting prevention. The target and output of this program is to increase partner income from woodfish production by IDR. 1,500,000 Rp. 5,000,000. Other publication output in accredited national journals and online national mass media. The results of the service implementation of this Real Work Lecture Assignment Service are (1) Increased knowledge, skills and abilities of partners in terms of implementing the biofloc cultivation system, (2) Increased knowledge, skills and abilities of partners in terms of implementing methods of food diversification from fish raw materials, ( 3) Increased knowledge, skills and abilities of partners regarding understanding stunting, how to prevent it and understanding the importance of consuming healthy fish, and (4) Increased knowledge, skills and abilities in running a business with good planning and partners also understanding business management, and ways to develop it.
