Abstract

This research aims to describe students' creativity in solving geometric literacy problems based on initial abilities. The population of this research were students of class IX MTs Negeri 3 Enrekang. The researcher used purposive random sampling and obtained 86 students who described quantitatively and 6 students who described qualitatively. The data collection technique is distributed an initial mathematical ability test and a creativity test for geometry. The instruments of this research are the early equivalents of mathematics, the creativity of geometry tests, and the guidance of interviews. This research is qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of this research are from 86 students solving problems related to the surface area and volume of prisms, 36 students fulfilled the fluency indicators, 30 students fulfilled the flexibility indicators, 11 students fulfilled the novelty indicators, and 39 students did not fulfil the three creativity indicatorss. Then from 86 students solving problems related to the surface area and volume of pyramids, 25 students fulfilled the fluency indicators, 22 students fulfilled the flexibility indicators, five students fulfilled the novelty indicators, and 34 students did not fulfil the three creativity indicatorss.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and produce teaching materials products based on liveworksheets that are valid, practical and effective. This research method refers to a 4D development model that includes 4 stages namely define, design, development, and disseminate. The subject of this research was the grade IX UPTD SMPN 7 Barru. Research instrument in the form of validattion sheets by experts to measure validity aspect; teacher activity observation sheet and responses to measure practicality aspect; student activity observation sheet, responses, and tests to measure effectiveness aspect. The results showed that teaching materials developed had valid criteria with validity score of 3,35; practically with a score of 3,98 for the result of teacher activity observation and 90% for teacher response result; effective with a score of 82% for the result of students activity observation, 95% for student response result, and 100% for the test result.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive research with qualitative approach aimed to describe problem solving abilities of mathematics students class XII MIA. By taking 6 students as subject. Instruments in this study are the researchers themselves as the main instrument and as a supporting instrument, namely the problem-solving skills test, interview guidelines. The results showed: (1) students with high ability level can determine the informations contained in the problem complete and precise, plan the problem-solving very well, implement the plan of problem-solving and can explain the problem-solving steps used with the correct results, and check back problem-solving steps used thoroughly and the answers. (2) students with medium ability to determine the information contained in the problem with complete but not appropriate, have a good problem-solving plan, explain the problem-solving steps used with less correct results, and don't re-examine the problem-solving steps used thoroughly and the answer. (3) students with low ability level can determine the information contained in the problem with complete and less precise, have a problem-solving plan that can help him in resolving the problem correctly, solve the problem with incorrect results, and don't re-examine the troubleshooting steps used thoroughly with the answers.

Abstract

The research type was an Quasi-experimental which involved two groups with different treatment. Objectives of this research were to know the differences in the improvement of students mathematics learning outcomes between the application of Realistic Mathematics Education approach and the application of Contextual Teaching and Learning approach. The population in this research was grade VII one of the Junior High School in Polewali Mandar, West Sulawesi and two experiment classes are selected by random technique as research sample. Data analysis by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The result was obtained there are not the different in the improvement of students mathematics learning outcomes between the application of RME approach and the application of CTL approach.
