Abstract

In schools’ context, one of many concerns of teachers is the changes of students’ behavior. To support quality education, the role of teachers, especially the counseling teachers is needed. Therefore, to give a good performance, education must be supported with good knowledge management. This study aimed to develop and test a prototype knowledge management system to help counseling teachers. The most important theory used is knowledge management system and technology acceptance models. Interviews with three teachers were used as the information basis for development of a prototype that included a course categories, repository and discussion features. Then the prototype was showed to the 18 guidance and counseling teachers, who were covered two third of guidance and counseling teachers in Salatiga. The results obtained in this study are: (a) Prototype of knowledge management system can help guidance and counseling teachers in overcoming problems at school or work, (b) teacher of guidance and counseling had received well the existence of this prototypes, and (c) the variables of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have significant influence on behavioral intention to use the prototype of knowledge management system. Abstract

Digital technology is an integral part of people's lives. One of the functions of digital technology is used for teaching and learning. The benefits of the research of this thesis is to examine and test the development of Technology Acceptance Model factors that generate revenue and impact of use digital technology to learn writing Indonesia language. The method in this research is quantitative research methods and qualitative research methods.The purpose of this research is to look how the influence of percieved ease of use variable and  percieved usefulness variabel to behavior intention variable in using the prototype writing Indonesian language for the elementary student. Abstract

The number of complaints and the phenomenon of Mathematics NationalExamination indicated a lack of belief for facing it. Belief is needed to face acertain task is known as self-efficacy (Bandura, 1997). There are many sources that can affect someone’s self-efficacy, namely internal and external sources. For having high self-efficacy through the National Examination, especially in mathematic as Bandura’s theory (1997), students do not only need belief that comes from their abilities or experiences (internal sources), but also from the presences and roles that are received by the mathematic teachers, parents, friends, and others (external sources). This study was aimed to assess whether there is a relationship between student’s perceptions of teacher’s interpersonal behavior with their self-efficacy through the Mathematics National Examination. This research used quantitative method, involved 109 students of ninth grade in Junior High School which is located in West Jakarta. By using a correlation test, it was found there was a relationship between students’ self-efficacy in mathematic with students’ perceptions of teacher’s interpersonal behavior in proximity (cooperation-opposition), but did not reveal any relationship with students’ perceptions of teacher’s interpersonal in influence (dominance-submission). Keywords: perception, teacher’s interpersonal behavior, self-efficacy, mathematics

Abstract

Learning to solve mathematical story-problem is beneficial since it emphasizes on thinking process. However, grade two students often experience difficulties in solving the mathematical story-problems. The students’ experiences of difficulties could lead to the reluctance of the students to learn them. Therefore, a strategy is needed to enhance the students’ ability to solve the mathematical story-problem. The purpose of current study is to examine the effectiveness of Schema-Based Instruction (SBI) in enhancing the ability to the grade two primary school students to deal with mathematical story-problem. The participants were six students at WK state primary school in West Jakarta. Results showed that there was an improvement of the participants’ abilities to solve the mathematical story-problems although it was not statistically significant. Further implications were discussed regarding time efficiency and the implementation of the strategy.Keywords: Schema-Based Instruction (SBI), word-problem solving, mathematics, think aloud.

Abstract

The role of vocational high schools in producing reliable workforce is highly expected. Gadgets are one of the tools used by vocational high school students in their daily lives. Gadgets can help in the learning process. However, there are indications that students tend to overuse gadgets. This overuse has caused problems, for example, in their social relationship. Efforts to reduce the use of gadgets are therefore needed so that the students are able to improve their skills in building a social relationship. This community service activity was intended to reduce the urge to use gadgets by students in their daily lives. The activity was divided into two parts. The first part included discussion with the principal and a teacher and the second part discussion with students. The participants of the activity were the school principal, a teacher, and 36 students of the vocational high school in Belitung. Interactive group discussions were used as the method in this program. In addition, a questionnaire was used to obtain a description of students’ experiences and their opinions about the time of using gadgets. The activity resulted in the decision made by the principal and the teacher to implement a plan to reduce the urge of using gadgets by students while at school. Students also tended to agree on reducing the urge to use gadgets. However, the maximum duration of time per day for students to be able to use gadgets still needed further discussion, because students inclined to disagree with the limit of three hours per day. From this activity it was concluded that the interactive discussions among researcher, principal, teacher, and students could reduce the urge to use gadgets by students while at school.

Abstract

Pada masa transisi yang dialami saat remaja, individu harus mempersiapkan landasan karir untuk masa dewasa. Persiapan karir ini, secara umum dikenal sebagai pemilihan jurusan di perguruan tinggi, sehingga remaja perlu mengusahakan beragam cara untuk mengidentifikasi alternatif pilihan karir, serta mempertimbangkan berbagai kemungkinan karir (perilaku eksplorasi karir). Ada beragam faktor yang memengaruhi perilaku eksplorasi karir, di antaranya trait kepribadian dan parental career specific behavior. Secara spesifik, ada inkonsistensi dalam hasil penelitian sebelumnya mengenai peran masing-masing dimensi trait kepribadian terhadap perilaku eksplorasi karir, sedangkan peran orang tua terhadap perilaku eksplorasi karir anak lebih banyak diteliti berdasarkan attachment atau pola asuh orang tua, sehingga menghasilkan efek yang linear. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran parental career-specific behavior dan trait kepribadian terhadap perilaku eksplorasi karir. Metode yang digunakan adalah korelasional, dengan 154 partisipan yang merupakan siswa kelas XI SMA X, Jakarta Barat, berusia 16 hingga 17 tahun. Partisipan penelitian dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik non-random sampling, dengan menggunakan total sampling. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini berupa kuesioner, yaitu adaptasi Career Exploration Survey, adaptasi Parental Career-Specific Behavior, dan adaptasi Five Factor Model Short-Form Inventory. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa trait kepribadian memiliki peran terhadap perilaku eksplorasi karir (R2 = 0.493, p < 0.05). Secara spesifik, empat trait kepribadian berperan signifikan dengan arah hubungan yang positif, yaitu openness (β = 1.500, p < 0.05), conscientiousness (β = 1.122, p < 0.05), extraversion (β = 0.756, p < 0.05), dan neuroticism (β = 0.478, p < 0.05); sedangkan trait agreeableness tidak memiliki peran terhadap perilaku eksplorasi karir (β = -0.028, p > 0.05). Variabel berikutnya, parental career-specific behavior juga memiliki peran terhadap perilaku eksplorasi karir (R2=0.693, p < 0.05). Secara spesifik, dimensi parental support dalam parental career specific behavior memiliki peran dengan arah hubungan yang positif (β = 1.785, p < 0.05), sedangkan peran signifikan dengan arah hubungan yang negatif ada pada dimensi parental interference (β = -3.138, p < 0.05) dan dimensi lack of parental engagement (β = -1.088, p < 0.05). Lebih lanjut, secara bersama-sama, trait kepribadian dan parental career-specific behavior memiliki peran yang signifikan terhadap perilaku eksplorasi karir (R2=0.740, p < 0.05). During the transition period experienced in adolescence, individuals must prepare a career foundation known as the selection of majors in college. Adolescents must explore various ways to identify alternative career choices, and consider various possibilities (career exploration behavior). Based on the results of previous studies, there are inconsistencies regarding the role of each personality trait dimension in career exploration behavior, while the role of parents in children's career exploration behavior is more researched based on parent's attachment or parenting, resulting in a linear effect. Therefore, this study aims to determine the role of parental career-specific behavior and personality traits on career exploration behavior. Using correlational research method, 154 participants who were grade XI students of SMA X, West Jakarta were selected using a non-random sampling technique, using total sampling. The instrument is a questionnaire which is an adaptation of the Career Exploration Survey, Parental Career-Specific Behavior, and Five Factor Model Short-Form Inventory. The research data were analyzed using multiple regression test. The result indicates that personality traits contribute to career exploration behavior (R2 = 0.493, p <0.05). Specifically, four personality traits play a significant role with positive direction, namely openness (β = 1,500, p <0.05), conscientiousness (β = 1,122, p <0.05), extraversion (β = 0.756, p <0.05), and neuroticism (β = 0.478, p <0.05); while the agreeableness trait has no role in career exploration behavior (β = -0.028, p> 0.05). Parental career-specific behavior plays a role in career exploration behavior (R2 = 0.693, p <0.05). Specifically, the dimension of parental support in parental career specific behavior plays a role with positive direction (β = 1,785, p <0.05), while the significant role with negative direction can be found in the dimension of parental interference (β = -3,138, p <0.05 ) and the dimension of lack of parental engagement (β = -1.088, p <0.05). Together, personality traits and parental career-specific behavior play a significant role in career exploration behavior (R2 = 0.740, p <0.05).Keywords: career exploration behavior, parental career-specific behavior, personality trait

Abstract

The influence of technological development brought about a sophisticated concept called IoT or the Internet of Things. In order to keep up with the progress of industrial era 4.0, preparation is needed to improve student competence. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education can improve IoT-related competencies. Collaboration between the use of IoT and STEM learning is expected to help students prepare for the future. Therefore, research on STEM Learning through IoT has been conducted for the last two years. Based on the results of this research, this PKM (Community Service) aims to provide assistance to elementary school teachers in Belitung Regency in the introduction of STEM learning through the implementation of IoT media. The methods in implementing the community service are: (a) data collection through questionnaires, prior to the implementation of Teacher Mentoring, (b) implementation of Teacher Mentoring in the form of lectures on IoT, STEM, and the benefits of STEM learning through IoT, (c) discussions and reflections on the material, (d) QnA session, and (e) data collection after Teacher Mentoring session. Furthermore, the data from the questionnaire was processed using quantitative methods. 75 teachers were assigned to attend this PKM, however, only 72 questionnaire data was collected. The result of the PKM recorded through QnA and questionnaires filled out by the teacher is that this PKM was able to help teachers understand more about the meaning of STEM by IoT. The STEM learning model through IoT is considered by the teachers to be able to provide positive benefits for students. Teachers expect similar materials related to technological advances to be given to students in the future.ABSTRAK:Pengaruh perkembangan teknologi di dunia menghasilkan suatu konsep canggih dengan sebutan IoT atau Internet of Things. Untuk menghadapi kemajuan zaman di era industri 4.0 diperlukan persiapan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi siswa. Pendidikan STEM atau Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics dapat menjadi wadah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi terkait IoT tersebut. Kolaborasi antara pemanfaatan IoT dengan pembelajaran  STEM diharapkan dapat mempersiapkan siswa menghadapi masa depan. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian mengenai Pembelajaran STEM melalui IoT telah dilaksanakan selama dua tahun terakhir. Berbasis hasil penelitian tersebut, PKM (Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat) ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pendampingan guru Sekolah Dasar di Kabupaten Belitung dalam pengenalan pembelajaran STEM melalui implementasi media IoT. Selanjutnya data dari kuesioner diolah dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif.  Guru yang ditugaskan hadir dalam PKM ini adalah 75 orang, namun data kuesioner yang terkumpul adalah 72.  Hasil dari PKM yang terekam melalui tanya jawab dan kuesioner yang diisi oleh guru antara lain, bahwa PKM ini telah dapat membuat para guru menjadi lebih paham arti STEM dengan IoT.  Model pembelajaran STEM melalui IoT ini dinilai guru dapat memberikan manfaat positif bagi pada siswa.  Para guru mengharapkan materi-materi sejenis yang terkait dengan kemajuan teknologi dapat diberikan di kemudian hari.
