Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in improving student learning outcomes on the ecosystem material at SMA Negeri 2 Tondano. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design with two cycles, involving 30 students in the experimental class using the PBL model and 30 students in the control class applying a conventional learning model based on discussions and question-and-answer sessions. Data were collected through affective observations and cognitive evaluations using posttests at the end of each cycle. The results of the study show that the PBL model can improve student learning outcomes in both cognitive and affective domains. In the cognitive domain, the classical completeness percentage increased from 80% in Cycle I to 100% in Cycle II, with the average class score increasing from 80.15 to 90.35. In the affective domain, all students showed significant improvement, with observation scores in the high category in both cycles. The application of the PBL model motivated students to be more actively engaged in learning and improved their positive attitudes, such as discipline, responsibility, and self-confidence. This study shows that the PBL model is effective in improving both cognitive understanding and affective development in students. These findings suggest that applying PBL in Biology learning can improve the quality of teaching and student learning outcomes, with important implications for the development of problem-based teaching methods in schools

Abstract

Mosquitoes are the main insect vectors that cause various tropical diseases, including malaria, filariasis, and various viral diseases, such as dengue fever. Indonesia is a country with a tropical climate whose environmental characteristics are very supportive of mosquito breeding. Mosquitoes are infectious vectors that must be controlled. Efforts to control mosquito vectors include using repellents. Repellent is a chemical that can keep insects away so that insect bites can be avoided. This research aims to determine the formula for anti-mosquito lotion made from cloves, langusei, and beehives and to determine the results of organoleptic, physical tests, and the strength of repellent anti-mosquito lotion made from cloves, langusei, and beehives. The method used in this type of research is the laboratory experimental method. The samples used in this research were clove leaves, langusei, and honeycomb. The analyses carried out were organoleptic tests, pH tests, homogeneity tests, and protection power tests. The lotion, with the addition of clove, langusei, and honey bee hive plant extracts, meets the organoleptic test, test requirements for physical quality and repellent lotion strength, namely having a smooth and soft lotion mass, the color and aroma of the lotion is typical of a mixture of clove, langusei, and honey bee hive plants. The results of the study showed that from variations in the concentration of cloveleaf extract, langusei, and honey bee nest (0%, 0.25%, 5%, 10%), the best results were formula IV, namely with a concentration of 10% which had the best physical properties, safe to use and the most effective protective power to repel mosquitoes.

Abstract

Micro teaching assessment plays a strategic role in preparing prospective teachers to develop professional teaching competencies. However, in many teacher education institutions, the assessment process is still conducted manually, inconsistently, and without adequate integration into institutional quality assurance systems. These limitations reduce the effectiveness of assessment as a tool for educational management and continuous improvement. This study aims to develop and evaluate a Micro Teaching Assessment Information System based on the PPEPP cycle (Planning, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement) to support more systematic, transparent, and accountable assessment management. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach consisting of needs analysis, system design, prototype development, expert validation, field testing, and product revision. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and system usability testing, and were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics as well as thematic analysis. The results indicate that the developed system achieved high levels of feasibility and usability, improved assessment efficiency, standardized evaluation procedures, enhanced the quality of feedback, and enabled real-time monitoring of student performance. The study concludes that the PPEPP-based assessment information system provides an effective technological solution for strengthening micro teaching management, supporting data-driven decision-making, and promoting sustainable quality improvement in teacher education.

Abstract

The gap in education quality and access in island and border regions remains a structural problem in the Indonesian education system. Fragmented geographical conditions, limited infrastructure, and uneven distribution of educational resources demand innovative, contextual and adaptive educational models. This study aims to analyze the implementation of innovative spatial digital education models in Senior High Schools (SMA) in the Sangihe Islands Regency, North Sulawesi Province. Specifically, this study examines the readiness of spatial digital technology infrastructure, the implementation of spatial digital technology-based curriculum, the impact of these innovations on student achievement, local government policy support, and factors influencing their implementation. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a prospective case study design. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies involving policy stakeholders, principals, teachers, and students. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive analysis model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the implementation of spatial digital education in Sangihe Islands Senior High Schools is still in its early stages, characterized by limited network infrastructure, suboptimal utilization of geospatial applications in learning, and variations in teachers' digital literacy competencies. However, regional policy support and human resource potential indicate significant opportunities for the development of sustainable spatial digital education models. This research confirms that integrating digital and spatial approaches can be an alternative strategy for improving access, relevance, and quality of education in archipelagic and border regions
