Abstract

Bottom gill net fisheries is a fishery production activity that is highly dependent on the season because changes in wind season patterns largely determine the availability and abundance of fish in a fishing ground, therefore seasonal changes can cause losses to capture fisheries business. Therefore, fisheries production activities must be carried out efficiently and effectively to achieve optimal profits. The study aims to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of bottom gill net fisheries production. The research was conducted from June to September 2023 in Labetawi Village, Difur beach, Tual City. Data were collected using survey methods and determination of responses using census techniques. Data are analyzed in a comparative descriptive manner including fishing ground, amount of production, fixed capital, working capital, production cost efficiency, and production effectiveness delivered in tables and graphs. The results of the analysis showed that optimal profits occurred in the eastern season because of the lowest efficiency of Rp4,053/Kg and the highest effectiveness of 0.000247Kg/Rp, while in transition season 1 it had the lowest effectiveness value of Rp6,539/Kg and the highest efficiency level of 0.000153 Kg/Rp, but in a general bottom gill net fishery production activities were efficient and effective in each season, therefore, the benefits of bottom gill net fisheries could obtain each season with different levels.

Abstract

The fishing ground of the floating lift net fishing fleet in each season in the TPK Kei Kecil conservation area has different economic value because the number of catches, fleet income, and operational costs of the fleet operating in the fishing ground of Ngaf-Ohoiew Island, Sepuluh Island, and Lima Island in each season is different. This study aims to analyze the economic fishing ground of the floating lift net fishing fleet in each season in the region. The locations of this research are Ohoi Namar, Ohoi Selayar, Ohoi Ohoililir, and Ohoi Dian Island, and it will be carried out in May – Oktober 2023. Data was collected using the survey method; respondents were determined using purposive sampling. The data that has been collected includes fishing ground, catches, fleet revenues, and fleet operational costs, then analyzed descriptively, qualitatively, and quantitatively, then presented in the form of pictures. The study recommends that the economical floating lift net fishing fleet fishing area in the TPK Kei Kecil conservation area in transition season 1 and 2 is a fishing ground located in the waters of Ngaf-Ohoiew Island because it has a high income from operational costs of Rp 136,059,000 in transition season 1 and Rp 126,420,000 in transition season 2, respectively while in the eastern season is the fishing ground in the waters of Pulau Lima because the average income is Rp 157,669,000.

Abstract

The economic benefits of hand line production activities carried out by small fishermen utilizing some inputs to produce high economic value output each season in the Kei Kecil small island park (TPK) conservation area differ according to the driving power. Production cost efficiency, effectiveness of production results, and business profits are very important for the sustainability and development of small-scale hand-line fisheries. This study aims to analyze the economics of small-scale hand line production based on the driving power in each season in the TPK Kei conservation area. The type of data needed is primary and secondary data, and the collection method used is triangulation. The analysis used includes analysis of business profits, production cost efficiency, and effectiveness of production results. The results of the analysis show that the production of hand line carried out in the TPK Kei Kecil conservation area in each season is more efficient and effective in the hand line fishing fleet that uses hand line rowing and the highest business profit is the hand line fishing fleet that uses ketinting driving power. The production of small-scale hand lines in the TPK Kei conservation area is small in each season efficiently, effectively, and profitably.

Abstract

Small-scale capture fisheries operating in the conservation area of the small Kei Small Island Park play a significant role in the national economy and the Southeast Maluku Regency area, but fishing efforts carried out by small fishermen for economic purposes with conventional management will have an impact on environmental damage and degradation of fish resources from time to time in the small Kei Island Park conservation area. Various internal and external factors of the small-scale capture fisheries economy in the TPK Kei Kecil conservation area cause this problem. This study aims to determine an economic-based small-scale capture fisheries management strategy that is appropriate and effective using internal and external factors. The types of data used were primary and secondary, qualitative and quantitative descriptive approaches, data collected using a survey method with triangulation techniques, sampling using purposive sampling on owners of fishing fleets, charts, gillnets, wires, ring trawls, and arrows, the number of samples was 130 determinedusing the Slovin formula, Data analysis using SWOT analysis namely evaluation of internal and external environmental factors, SWOT analysis, and decision-making. The results of the analysis showed that the number of strengths and weaknesses was 6, while the opportunity factor was 4 and the threat factor was 5. Internal environmental factors are still advantageous because strength is more dominant than weakness. External environmental factors are the opposite because threats are more dominant than opportunities, and are diversified in quadrant II. The strategy for the sustainability of small-scale capture fisheries based on economics in the TPK Kei Kecil conservation area is to operate a small-scale fishing fleet that has high economic benefits every season, create alternative fishery product processing or fishery cultivation businesses that are competitive and have high economic value, increase supervision by involving the community, strengthen data and information related to fish resources and economic fishing areas inside and outside the TPK conservation area every season, and build gas stations through cooperatives in strategic locations.
