Abstract

Learning is required to always be creative in presenting learning materials such as using learning models that can foster student’s enthusiasm in participating  learning process, so that students are happy and interested in exploring the lesson in the hope that their learning outcomes will be better. This study aims to (1) determine the increase in student learning outcomes taught with the Problem Based Learning model based on critical thinking is higher than the Direct Instruction model (2) to find out whether there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning model based on critical thinking on learning activities students on acid base material. From the results of the study, it was found that student learning outcomes in the experimental class were 77%, while those in the control class were 62%. The result of the difference in increasing learning outcomes between the two classes is 15%. From the t distribution data obtained t-table = 1.676 while based on calculations obtained price tcount = 3.73 means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, based on this analysis means there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning model Learning based on critical thinking towards student learning activities on Acid-Base material.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the analysis of the feasibility level and response of students to SAC (Smart Apps Creator) media integrated with project based learning on reaction rate material. The research method used is Research and Development with a 4D development model approach (define, design, development and disseminate). Research data collection is carried out by interviews and questionnaires or questionnaires that are distributed to teachers and students. This research was conducted at SMAS PAB 8 Saentis. The population and samples in this study are chemistry lecturers, teachers and students of grade XI 2 for the 2023/2024 academic year taken by purposive sampling of 30 people. Based on validity, it shows that the SAC learning media developed was declared valid by validators with the criteria of "Very Feasible" with an average validation score of 89.86%, then based on the results of student responses, it was obtained that the SAC learning media developed as a whole received an average percentage result of 83.81% with the criteria of "Strongly Agree". Therefore, SAC learning media integrated with the project-based learning model on the reaction rate material is suitable for use as a learning medium.

Abstract

The reading and writing habits of SMAN 2 Percut Sei Tuan students are relatively low. Therefore, students' literacy and high order thinking abilities are also relatively low. The implementation of scientific literacy-based learning strategies in the form of making summaries at the end of the learning process is expected to improve students' literacy and high order thinking skills. The instruments used are tests in the form of varied multiple choices and essays totaling 8 and 2 questions. The results of data analysis show that students' initial abilities on the 9 of HOTs-Literacy indicators are very low with an average value of 28.49. The summarizing treatment at the end of the learning process succeeded in improving the ability of HOTs-Literacy students in indicators (1) identifying information and data, (2) using information and data, (3) producing explanatory models, (4) distinguishing questions that can be researched scientifically, (5) formulating hypotheses, (6) making predictions, (7) analyzing data, (8) interpreting data, (9) drawing or presenting conclusions, respectively 63.7 ; 66.7; 68.4 ; 64.0 ; 70.9 ; 70.8; 79.2 ; 81.4 and 86.3 %.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether the Guided Inquiry learning model is better than Discovery Learning in improving scientific literacy activities and student learning outcomes on reaction rate material. The research method used is quasi experimental. The sample from this research consisted of two classes, namely experimental class I which was taught using the guided inquiry learning model, totaling 29 students and experimental class II, which was taught using the Discovery Learning model, totaling 27 students. The results of data analysis show that the average learning outcomes of students using Guided Inquiry (80.69) are higher than the average learning outcomes of students taught using the Discovery Learning model (74.63) and the average scientific literacy activities of students using Guided Inquiry (79.15 ) higher than the average using the Discovery Learning model (73.72). Hypothesis results using the right-hand t-test and α = 0.05 obtained tcount > ttable (2.34 > 1.675) for students' scientific literacy activities and tcount > ttable (2.49 > 1.675) for student learning outcomes so that in this study the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H₂) is accepted. Thus, it was found that the Guided Inquiry learning model was better than Discovery Learning in improving scientific literacy activities and student learning outcomes on reaction rate material.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in students' high-order thinking skills after the application of the discovery learning model integrated with generic science skills on chemical equilibrium material in class XI of SMA Negeri 5 Tanjung Balai. The sampling technique was carried out using the random sampling technique, namely taking one class randomly by drawing lots. The design of this study was a one group pretest-posttest design. In learning, the test instruments used were cognitive levels C1 to C6, namely multiple choice questions. Through hypothesis testing using one sample T-Test, data significance was obtained < 0.05 so that it can be concluded that Ha is accepted, which means that the average value of students taught with the discovery learning model integrated with generic science skills on chemical equilibrium material reached a minimum of 75.

Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials based on the IBL STEM model using the Wordwall application to improve students' critical thinking skills. The development model used refers to the ADDIE model with 30 students of the Chemistry Education Study Program, UNIMED as research subjects. The research instrument used an expert validation sheet and a test of students' critical thinking skills on stoichiometry material as many as 25 questions in the form of multiple choices. The results of the study indicate that teaching materials based on the IBL STEM model using the Wordwall application are feasible and effective in improving students' critical thinking skills in Stoichiometry learning. The feasibility is met qualitatively based on the assessment of material expert validators with an average total score of 4.36 (valid) and the assessment of media expert validators with an average total score of 4.32 (valid). Effectiveness is met based on the results of product implementation and evaluation results and is proven by statistical hypothesis testing (p < 0.05) with an average achievement of increasing students' critical thinking skills of 40.067 ± 9.318.
