Abstract

Women's participation in da'wa activities in the community has been widely studied. Likewise with the contribution of their involvement in various da'wa movements or Islamic organizations. This research aims to strengthen the existing studies, with a focus on the Aisyiyah da'wa community in urban areas. Specifically, this research seeks to investigate how inclusive and solutive the da'wa community is in carrying out its various activities among the Ulujami community in South Jakarta. This research was assessed using a qualitative approach that is not only by conducting relevant literature reviews but also by conducting in-depth interviews with leaders and members of the Aisyiyah branch of Ulujami, and the female community who reside and participate in various activities of Aisyiyah Ulujami-South Jakarta. In addition, participant observation were also conducted to look closely variety of their da'wa activities, ranging from religious education for empowering people and strengthening their religiosity to health services for helping people around them. The result of this research conducted in 2019 and early 2020 shows that the variety of activities carried out by Aisyiyah Ulujami in the middle of the Betawi urban community has made significant social contributions, especially in terms of women's empowerment related to strengthening religious insight, awareness to maintain health and strengthening social harmony in the midst of pluralistic society. This research could contribute to the discourses of the activities of female da'wa community in urban areas and its influences to the wider female community and society in general.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of the Islamic education reform implemented at the Bin Baz Islamic Centre. The main focus of the research is to identify the development of students in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. In order to achieve these objectives, the research proposes the need for reform in the curriculum and teaching methods applied at the institution. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method is chosen as the methodological framework to provide an in-depth understanding of the influence of educational reform. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model. Data collection is carried out through observations, interviews, and document analysis. The qualitative approach, with a focus on the role of informants as data sources, allows the research to investigate complex aspects within the context of Islamic education reform. The results of this research emphasize the urgency of education in shaping a holistic understanding, not only within the family environment but also involving the significant role of schools and colleges. In terms of the curriculum, it has been implemented effectively, accompanied by careful teaching strategies to achieve optimal teaching effectiveness. However, the research also identifies some challenges, particularly in the context of learning the Indonesian language, where some students are not fully engaged, exhibiting behaviors of sleeping or playing alone. Therefore, the author compiles this scholarly work to be viewed as an effort to enhance student engagement and, consequently, the quality of education at the institution.

Abstract

This research analyses the historical development of the Tarbiyah movement in Indonesia. Specifically, it analyses on how and to what extent the da’wa of the Tarbiyah movement has been transformed due its changing of religious, social and political dynamics of Indonesia since 1970s until now. Based on this written document-based research, I argue that the gradual transition of the Tarbiyah movement from a politically repressed network of religious purists in the 1970-80s into a fully-fledged dakwah political party (the Prosperous Justice Party /PKS) was the outcome of new ‘political opportunities’ which emerged during a period of demo­cratisation. The political situation during the time of the Tarbiyah movement’s emergence in the early 1980s saw state repression of Islamic movements and this constraint on political opportunity structures was one of the main factors causing the Liqo to be informally organised. Only in the post-New Order period (begun in 1998) did the movement start to generate its formal organizational structure in the shape of a political party named the PK(S). The move towards formality aimed to take advantage of the ‘political opportunity’ provided by a more democratic government, while the less formal and the informal aspects of their organisation supports the party in recruiting new members and mobilizing its sympathisers.Keywords: Da’wa, Tarbiyah movement, PKS, Politics, Indonesia.Penelitian ini mengkaji perkembangan historis gerakan Tarbiyah di Indonesia. Secara khusus, penelitian ini mengkaji mengenai bagaimana dan sejauhmana dakwah gerakan Tarbiyah ini telah mengalami trans­formasi disebabkan oleh perubahan dinamika keagamaan, sosial, dan politik Indonesia sejak tahun 1970-an sampai saat ini. Berdasarkan pene­litian berbasis analisa dokumen tertulis untuk ini, saya berpendapat bahwa transisi bertahap gerakan Tarbiyah dari jaringan agama puritan yang dite­kan secara politis pada tahun 1970-1980-an menjadi sebuah partai politik dakwah pada akhir 1990-an adalah hasil dari peluang politik atau ‘political opportunity' yang muncul selama periode demokratisasi. Situasi politik selama masa kemunculan gerakan Tarbiyah pada awal 1980-an menyebab­kan represi negara atas gerakan Islam dan kendala pada struktur kesem­patan politik ini adalah salah satu faktor utama yang menyebabkan liqo diorganisir secara informal. Pada periode pasca-Orde Baru (dimulai pada tahun 1998) gerakan ini mulai menghasilkan struktur organisasi formal dalam bentuk partai politik bernama PKS. Langkah perubahan menuju formalitas bertujuan untuk mengambil keuntungan dari 'peluang politik' yang dibuka oleh pemerintah yang lebih demokratis, sementara aspek yang kurang formal dan informal dari organisasi /gerakan mereka tetap bisa mendukung partai dalam merekrut anggota baru dan memobilisasi sim­patisannya.Kata Kunci: Dakwah, Gerakan Tarbiyah, PKS, Politik, Indonesia.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explore mental health therapy through aspects of religious life. This research is included in the type of descriptive qualitative research. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews and document analysis. The research subjects involved the school principal, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teacher, Guidance Counseling (BK) teacher, and two students. The data analysis techniques used include data reduction, data presentation and verification. Based on research, it is known that religious life can be a mental health therapy for students at SMK N 38 Jakarta. Religious activities carried out at the school include dhuha prayers, dhuhur prayers in congregation and reading yasin. From the results of interviews with students, the author found that participating in religious activities carried out by the school provided comfort to the souls of students at SMK N 38 Jakarta.

Abstract

Strengthening the understanding of Wasathiyah Islam could be one of the ways to minimize radicalism’s negative impacts to society. In this case, the role of women must also be involved to be at the forefront of mainstreaming wasathiyah Islam or in terms of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) called religious moderation. This led us to design a training for Nasyiatul 'Aisyiyah (NA) cadres who can play their roles in the implementation of progressive Islamic wasathiyah within wider society. This training used seminar methods and focus group discussions (FGD) both offline and online. Through intensive discussions during this training, there were participants who apparently still did not have sufficient knowledge and misunderstood Islam wasathiyah. This training, then was very useful in opening the participants' perspective.  NA and female cadres are interested in disseminating and developing the topic of religious moderation or wasathiyah Islam for the wider young and female generation. They believe that strengthening progressive wasathiyah Islam can be a good way to combat radicalism as well as to strengthen the notion of Indonesia’s multiculturalism. The advice from this program emphasizes the importance of formulating effective and sustainable activities by involving various groups so that the benefits are greater within the community.

Abstract

This research was motivated by collaboration between the UMSU Islamic Faculty and the Al-Hidayah Foundation in implementing the Community Service Program (KKN) in Thailand. The aim is to reveal the contribution of the Al-Hidayah Foundation in improving the quality of Islamic Religious Faculty graduates through the KKN program. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data instruments in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model and tested via triangulation. The research results show the significant contribution of the Al-Hidayah Foundation in improving the quality of education and empowering students. Through KKN, students experience an increase in the quality of learning, application of theory in practice, and development of leadership skills and social responsibility. This collaboration also strengthens international relations between the Al-Hidayah Foundation and UMSU, opening up opportunities for cultural exchange and educational project collaboration. It is hoped that this collaboration will provide benefits to other faculties at UMSU, broaden horizons, improve the quality of education, and empower students to improve the quality of graduates.

Abstract

Radicalization or the process of bringing the influence of radical ideology into a person's views and attitudes, is vulnerable to school students. However, it is still rare to find research that specifically discusses the influence of textbooks in preventing the entry of radical influences into school students. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the Akidah Akhlak text book used in Senior High School. This qualitative research is based on library-based research using analytical methods that focus on content analysis. The results of the research concluded that in the Akidah Akhlak text book, the values of Islamic moderation are found in various forms such as in images, discourses or stories, and texts. The existence of Islamic moderation values in the Class XII Aqidah Akhlak text book at Madrasah Aliyah has two contributions to the process of education emong students. First, it can strengthen students' moderate views and attitudes, including having a fair/balanced/equal attitude, a tolerant attitude, a nationalistic attitude and accommodating towards lokal culture. Second, it can prevent students from being influenced by radicalism, intolerance, extremism and violence in the name of religion. This research should be continously developed in relation to many aspects of education for preventing radicalisation among students.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze, test and obtain a clear picture of the influence of situational leadership and work climate on the quality of academic services in kindergartens in Larangan District, Tangerang City. This research uses a quantitative approach and hypothesis testing uses the path analysis method, while the data collection technique uses questionnaires, with a sample of 200 teachers from a population of 250 kindergarten teachers in Larangan District, Tangerang City. Based on the results of hypothesis testing from the research discussion, several conclusions can be put forward as follows: (1) There is a direct positive influence of situational leadership on the quality of academic services in kindergartens throughout Larangan District, Tangerang City. (2) There is a positive and significant direct influence of work climate on the quality of academic services in kindergartens in Larangan District, Tangerang City. (3) There is a direct positive and significant influence of situational leadership on the work climate in kindergartens in Larangan District, Tangerang City.

Abstract

The hidden curriculum serves as a supplementary component to the formal curriculum, emphasizing the cultivation of students' character. One crucial aspect of character development for students is the ability to exhibit critical thinking and moderation. This research aims to make a hidden curriculum as a tool and effort to build students' critical thinking and moderate attitudes. The method of this study is qualitative. Data is collected through observation, interviews, and written documentation and literature. The sources of data and information are obtained from 9 informants which are the school principal, deputy principal for the curriculum section, Pancasila, Islamic and Christian Education teachers, class teachers, and 3 students at SMAN 60 Jakarta. The scope of this research only covers the development, implementation, and obstacles of the hidden curriculum increase students' critical and moderate attitudes. The implications of this research are the awareness of schools regarding the importance of paying attention to the hidden curriculum in schools and addressing existing constraints. Additionally, further research is needed on the role of government policies in hidden synchronization.

Abstract

Kesadaran warga persyarikatan akan pentingnya hidup secara islami tidak dibarengi dengan menyeleksi ideologi dan paham keagamaan yang sesuai dengan apa yang telah diputuskan persyarikatan Muhammadiyah. Paham transnasional yang saat ini deras memasuki Negara Indonesia, masih sering diakomodasi oleh sebagian warga Muhammadiyah. Kecuali itu, masih ada warga persyarikatan yang dalam praktik keagamaannya masih bercampur dengan tradisi dan paham keagamaan yang tidak sesuai dengan tuntunan tarjih Muhammadiyah. Hal in misalnya terlihat pada Media yang diterbitkan oleh persyarikatan sendiri. Ide-ide khilafah sebagai dasar Negara masih banyak mendapat respon positif dari sebagian warga Muhammadiyah. Dalam hal ibadah pun ada diantara warga Muhammadiyah, bahkan bekerja di Amal usaha Muhammadiyah, tetapi pengamalan keagamaannya mengikuti gerakan/organisasi lain. Respon demikian, tentu tidak sesuai dengan konsep Pedoman Hidup islami Warga Muhammadiyah (PHIWM), yang menjadikan Al-Quran dan As Sunnah al-Maqbulah  sebagai pedoman dalam beragama. Tujuan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat ini untuk mensosialisasikan dan menguatkan pemahaman konsep Pedoman Hidup islami Warga Muhammadiyah kepada warga Muhammadiyah di akar rumput (Ranting). Kesadaran tersebut perlu terus ditumbuhkan. Karena jika tidak, dikhawatirkan akan terjadi krisis jiwa kemuhammadiyahan yang notabene sebagai Islam berkemajuan dan menganut prinsip Wasathiyah. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian melalui seminar dan Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Hasil Pengabdian menunjukkan masih banyaknya jama’ah yang belum mengenal Konsep PHIWM, sebagai salah satu ideologi penting yang ada di Muhammadiyah. Melalui seminar dan FGD, jama’ah ranting yang notabene warga Muhammadiyah di akar rumput, dapat memahami bagaimana menjalani hidup sesuai ajaran Islam, seperti terdapat dalam PHIWM.
