Abstract

According to WHO (2019), the Maternal Mortality Rate is the number of maternal deaths resulting from pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum processes, which are used as indicators of women's health status. Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is one of the global targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to reduce maternal mortality (MMR) to 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030. Several efforts to reduce MMR have been carried out by the Padang City government, including implementing the Childbirth Planning and Prevention of Complications (P4K) Program, using MCH books, implementing classes for pregnant women, and health counseling activities. This quantitative research uses a pocketbook of the bride and groom using leaflet media. This is a guide for brides-to-be as part of marriage advice and guidance for those who have registered their marriage at the Regional Office of Religious Affairs (KUA). The subject of this study was a bride-to-be in Padang City. Providing reproductive health counseling on women's knowledge in premarital preparation in the working area of KUA Koto Tangah District has an influence.

Abstract

Background: Childbirth is the effort or process of expelling a full-term baby which is often accompanied by pain caused by contractions in the uterus. From the research results, it was found that 32% of 300 women who gave birth during the active phase experienced severe pain, 57% moderate pain, and 11% mild pain. Evidence shows that fear of vaginal childbirth and anxiety experienced by many women during their pregnancy. Therefore, it then led to their decision to choose other methods of birth such as Section Caesarea (SC). The effects of anxiety during labor could potentially result in excessive levels of catecholamines causing decreased blood flow to the uterus, decreased uterine contractions, decreased blood flow to the placenta, decreased oxygen available to the fetus, and can increase the length of labor. One of alternative methods of dealing with pain during the labor process is using non-pharmacological such as endorphin massage and oxytocin massage. Purpose: The aim of this literature study was to present information about the effect of endorphin massage and oxytocin massage on the intensity of pain among mothers giving birth. Methods: This research method was a literature review study. Journal searches were carried out by applying online database such as ScienceDirect, Google scholar, Pubmed, Scopus, Portal Garuda. Articles were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Result: The study investigated the influence of endorphin and oxytocin massages on pain intensity in maternity mothers during childbirth, revealing a significant reduction in pain levels following the administration of these massages. Both endorphin and oxytocin massages were found to alleviate pain, induce relaxation, and promote feelings of comfort and calmness, thereby facilitating a smoother birth process. Conclusion: The influence of endorphin massage and oxytocin massage is useful in reducing pain in maternity mothers

Abstract

Background: Childbirth is a physiological process, which is ended by removal of the fetus, placenta, and membrane from the uterus in full-term pregnancy without action and complications. During the childbirth there are complications that can cause death, one of which is the case of perineal lacerations. Perineal massage is an action that can be done to prevent the occurrence of perineal lacerations in maternity mothers.   Purpose: This study aims to determine perineal massage on the prevention of perineal lacerations in maternity mothers. Methods: This research method was a literature review study. Journal searches were carried out by applying online database such as Sciencedirect, PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, and Portal Garuda. Articles were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The analysis was carried out on 18 research articles. It was found that perieneal massage can cause vasodilation of blood vessels so that blood flow to the perineum increases so that the perineal area becomes more elastic. The application of perineal massage is able and effective in preventing and reducing the incidence of perineal lacerations in maternity mothers. Conclusion: The influence of perineal massage is useful in the prevention of perineal lacerations in maternity mothers.

Abstract

Pregnant women with hypertension in pregnancy will experience physical and psychological discomfort, so complementary therapy is needed through self-suggestion techniques and spiritual therapy. This study aimed to determine the effect of  Benson relaxation on anxiety and blood pressure of pregnant women with hypertension in pregnancy. This study used a Quasi-Experimental study with a randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample was 46 respondents divided into two groups: the treatment and control groups. The study was conducted in 2 weeks. The results showed that there were 13 respondents whose anxiety scores were better. Statistical test results showed differences in the pre-test and post-test values with the Wilcoxon P-test value 0.002. The Mann-Whitney test showed a p-value of 0.046. Chi-square test results showed a p-value 0.011. Variable blood pressure: the average systolic pressure before being given the intervention was 141.39 mmHg to 133.65 mmHg after the intervention was given. Diastolic blood pressure from 91.30 mmHg to 86.70 mmHg. Statistics test results with paired t-tests showed a p-value 0.000, meaning that there were differences before and after the intervention. Benson relaxation influenced the decrease in anxiety, and declined blood pressure of pregnant women.

Abstract

Background: Telemedicine has emerged as a key innovation in transforming global healthcare services, including midwifery practice. Advances in digital technology facilitate pregnancy monitoring, remote consultations, and maternal health education in a more efficient, timely, and cost-effective manner, thereby supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3.1 to reduce maternal mortality. This article reviews the implementation of telemedicine in eight countries—Indonesia, India, Nigeria, Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, and the United States with an emphasis on its contribution to maternal health. Method: A literature review was conducted by analyzing scientific articles and books published between 2021 and 2025 that addressed midwifery, antenatal care, and maternal health outcomes. Result: In developing countries such as Indonesia, India, and Nigeria, telemedicine expands access to antenatal care, accelerates referrals, reduces geographic barriers, and enhances maternal health literacy through community-based digital platforms. In developed countries such as Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, and the United States, telemedicine focuses on health system integration, early detection of pregnancy complications, and optimizing service efficiency using advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, big data analytics, telemonitoring, and wearable devices. Midwives play a pivotal role as direct care providers, clinical decision-makers, and intermediaries between digital platforms and patients. Conclusion: Telemedicine is not merely a temporary response to healthcare limitations in developing countries but also a catalyst for innovation, quality improvement, and equity in global midwifery services.

Abstract

A nutritional status assessment is a process undertaken to facilitating optimal development. Normal growth is defined as the optimal nutritional and health status, as indicated by conformity with the parameters set forth in growth charts. The objective of this activity is to gather data pertaining to the nutritional status of all students in grades IV, V, and VI of SDN 22 Andalas Padang, while concurrently imparting health education related to menarche as part of the students' overall growth and development. The assessment of nutritional status was conducted through the measurement of height and weight, with the calculation of the Body Mass Index and Age, of 110 students in grades IV, V, and VI of SDN 22 Andalas Padang. Additionally, health education about menarche was provided through presentations and the distribution of booklets. The results of the activity demonstrated a high level of acceptance and positive response from the teachers and leaders. The nutritional status of the students was found to be generally good, with only 4% of students having poor nutritional status, 80% having good nutritional status, 11% having overweight status, and 5% having obese nutritional status. Furthermore, the students displayed enthusiasm during the educational sessions. It can be concluded that the majority of SDN 22 Andalas Padang students have a normal nutritional status. Hopefully, this activity will form the basis for schools to carry out monitoring interventions for the nutritional status of school-age children and the continuation of regular activities by involving cross-sectoral partners.
