Abstract

Virgin coconut oil (VCO) is a form of processed coconut meat that has recently been produced for commercial use. Virgin coconut oil or pure coconut oil is the result of processed coconut that is free of trans-fatty acid (TFA) or trans-fatty acids that are easily digested and oxidized by the body to prevent accumulation in the body. Trans fatty acids can occur due to the hydrogenation process, so as not to undergo the hydrogenation process, the extraction of coconut oil is carried out by the fermentation process. This research was conducted by the Fermentation method using Fermipan as a microbe and the addition of the bromelin enzyme from pineapple extracts. The variables in this study were 100 ml of coconut milk volume, pH 4, and fermipan weight 0.2 gr. The variables implemented were pineapple extract volume (20, 25, 30, 35, 40) ml, fermentation time (18, 24, 30, 36, 42) hours. Analysis of VCO results compared with VCO SNI, namely the content of water content, free fatty acid numbers, saponification numbers, and iodine numbers. Optimum VCO results were obtained at 30 hours fermentation time and 30 ml pineapple extract which produced 35 ml rendamen, water content 0.08, free fatty acid numbers 0.1, saponification number 72.9, and Iodine number 26.65.

Abstract

The simple organic waste processing in this journal is a follow-up to the previous activities. By using a concise method that did not take up land, the people of Gebang Putih Village have been able to process simple organic waste into ready-to-use compost. The method used in making ready-to-use compost was to stack brown and green waste in layers and then doused it with two variations of bio-activators, i.e., leri water (rice washing water) and EM4. After the 18th day, the resulting fertilizer showed dry characteristics, odorless, and had a neutral pH. An interesting result in this study was that the compost with the addition of leri water (pH=7) began to decompose on the 9th day. However, in the compost with the addition of EM4, on the 6th day, the compost had decomposed evenly. However, the final results of the compost produced proved that leri water was quite effective as an alternative bio-activator, a substitute for EM4.

Abstract

The separation of heavy metals, zinc (Zn) and chromium (Cr), in biosolid waste can be carried out by an extraction process using H2SO4 as a solvent. The extraction process was carried out with a variation of time agitation and sulfuric acid concentration. The extracted cake was then analyzed using the atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) method. The most effective reduction in Zn and Cr levels was obtained at 120 minutes and a solvent concentration of 1.5M with an efficiency of 98.80% and 97.89%, respectively.
