Abstract

Rapid technological advancement and the demands of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 require vocational high school teachers to effectively integrate technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge. However, the implementation of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) among vocational teachers in Indonesia remains constrained, particularly due to disparities in institutional support between public and private schools. This study aims to examine the level of TPACK competence among vocational high school teachers and to compare TPACK profiles between public and private institutions. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed involving 62 teachers from eight public and private vocational high schools in Bali and North Sulawesi provinces. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and interviews, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression, and independent-samples t-tests. The findings indicate that teachers’ overall TPACK competence falls within a moderate category. Regression analysis reveals that Technological Knowledge (TK) and Content Knowledge (CK) have significant effects on TPACK, while other components do not show partial significance. In addition, a significant difference was found between public and private vocational schools, with teachers in public schools demonstrating higher TPACK competence. This study concludes that sustained professional development and stronger institutional support are essential to enhance vocational teachers’ capacity to integrate technology effectively, particularly in private schools. These findings provide empirical evidence to inform policy and targeted interventions for strengthening TPACK in vocational education contexts.

Abstract

Power quality is a critical factor in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of modern power systems, particularly in distribution networks that extensively utilize power electronic equipment. One of the primary sources of harmonic distortion is the use of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), which operate as non-linear loads and cause current and voltage waveforms to deviate from their ideal sinusoidal shape. This study aims to analyze the harmonic characteristics generated by VSDs in the distribution system of PT. PLN ULP Tomohon, determine the levels of Total Harmonic Distortion of current (THD-I) and voltage (THD-V), and evaluate the effectiveness of harmonic mitigation using a passive single-tuned harmonic filter. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach through modeling and simulation of the power system using the Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) software. Technical system data, including transformer capacity, distribution network configuration, and load parameters, are modeled in the form of a Single Line Diagram (SLD) and analyzed using the Harmonic Load Flow module. The simulation results indicate that VSD operation produces dominant harmonics at the 5th and 7th orders, which significantly increase the THD levels within the system. The implementation of a passive single-tuned harmonic filter is shown to effectively reduce harmonic distortion, allowing the THD-I and THD-V values to approach or comply with the limits specified in the IEEE 519-2014 standard. Therefore, the application of appropriate harmonic mitigation methods can improve power quality, enhance energy efficiency, and increase the reliability of electrical power systems in distribution networks.

Abstract

Learning at vocational schools aims to prepare the younger generation for work or entrepreneurship. However, in Indonesia, vocational school graduates are the highest contributor to unemployment, namely 9.6%. To increase the competitiveness of graduates, vocational schools must improve the quality of education and vocational skills, especially scientific and mathematical process skills. The objective of this research is to assess the influence of incorporating the WhatsApp-assisted inquiry training on the science process skills and mathematical representation abilities of vocational school students enrolled in the electricity skills program. The study was carried out as a quasi-experiment employing a non-equivalent control group design. A saturated sample of 85 respondents from three classes, including one experimental class and two control classes, was utilized. Prior to the intervention, a pretest was administered. The experimental class received the inquiry training with WhatsApp, while the control class 1 received the inquiry training, and the control class 2 received the direct instruction. The findings of the study indicate that the inquiry training with WhatsApp yields a positive impact and is more effective in enhancing the science process skills and mathematical representation abilities of vocational school students in comparison to the inquiry training model and the direct instruction model, achieving an mean score of 84.16 and an N-Gain score of 0.72 in the high category.
