Abstract

The findings of this study are, first, Junior and Senior High School students in Bengkulu like folklores from their district. Most of these students like legend’s type folklore compared to other type stories. Currently, folklores can still be found in the community, although it is not easy because the spoke person are old and many have died. The content of Bengkulu folklores has values or teachings about nature and ecosystem conservation. Second, local literature is taught in junior and senior high schools in Bengkulu. Students enjoy learning literature, especially local literature. The last, the level of environmental literacy among students is still relatively low. This can be seen by the lack of students' attention for waste and environmental conservation. In this regard, learning literature and folklore in schools is in line with students' eco-literacy competencies. However, this has not been implemented optimally, so it is hoped that local literature (folklore) can give contribution in nature and ecosystem conservations by increasing the eco-literacy of students and society.

Carakan is one kind of traditional Indonesian script. In the past, carakan used for various purposes in the archipelago written tradition, both for practical everyday purposes and meeting the needs of the administration of the local government; including testamentary with regard to the utilization of a wealth of indigenous peoples. Their testament manuscript text written using characters carakan, especially with the peculiarities in the form of letters generated by a playwright (idiograph), required a special technique to recognize the characters shape. The technique used is the technique of trace (tracing) directly above character by character so we get the script transliteration guidelines which refer directly to the text of the manuscript. Results from this study is (1) guide transliteration of three testamentary of Madrais S. Allibasa Manuscript; (2) certainty of the same authors on three testamentary manuscripts, namely Madrais S Allibasa, although there are only two manuscript text which states the name Madrais and an existing script text signature; and (3) certainty contents of a will stating that the lands of indigenous peoples should not be shared inheritance and sold, can only be used for the common.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the role of the Malin Kundang folklore in the integration of local culture in the learning of narrative texts in schools. The background to this research is the need to integrate local culture in education, considering that Indonesia is rich in cultural heritage which can be used as a relevant learning source. The Malin Kundang folklore, as part of Minangkabau culture, contains moral values that can be internalized by students, such as respect for parents and awareness of the consequences of actions. The method used in this research is literature study, which examines various sources related to folklore, the values contained therein, and their application in the learning context. Through this analysis, it was found that folklore not only functions as a medium of entertainment, but also as an effective educational tool for improving students' literacy skills, especially in narrative writing. The results of this research show that the integration of local culture through Malin Kundang stories can enrich students' learning experiences, shape their character, and increase their love of culture. Apart from that, this story provides space for discussion about social values that are relevant to everyday life. Thus, the application of folklore in narrative text learning has great potential to strengthen students' cultural identity and support the preservation of Indonesia's cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study presents the dominant social reflection category that appears in the short story anthology Kita Susah Tidur sejak Dilahirkan by Aksan Taqwin Embe. Twelve stories are delivered in a light and simple manner, and the topics discussed in each story reflect the circumstances that occur in the real world. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method in the form of a literature study with Alan Swingewood's literary sociology approach. The results of the study show that in the short story anthology Kita Susah Tidur sejak Dilahirkan, four dominant categories of social reflection appear, namely land confiscation in the short stories Hari Muram and Bisikan-Bisikan; violence against women in the short stories Selawat Sepasang Lansia, Bisikan-Bisikan, Anjing yang Menggagalkan Pernikahan, and Menjemput Tubuh; fishermen's lean season in the short stories Menyisir Kematian and Anjing yang Menggagalkan Pernikahan, and gender stereotypes in the short story Pengarang yang Bermartabat. These four categories of social reflection are relevant to the real world because they are reinforced by Alan Swingewood's theory of literary sociology, which sees literary works as social documents and formulates the concept that literary works can be seen as social reflections.
