Abstract

Remazol Yellow is a dye that contains an basic amino group and a benzene core, so it is difficult to be naturally degraded by microorganisms and causes environmental pollution. One solution to reduce the dye waste polluted in waters can be done by adsorption method using pineapple peel cellulose as adsorbent. Before turning into pineapple peel cellulose, the NaOH delignification process and H2SO4 hydrolysis were carried out first. The adsorption process for rhodamine B dye was carried out on 2 parameters, namely pH, contact time and determination of the adsorption system using the Langmuir and Freundlich equations at various concentrations of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 50, 75 and 100 ppm. Testing the effect of pH on the adsorption of Remazol Yellow was carried out with variations in pH namely 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. . The results showed the optimum conditions at pH 2, contact time of 30 minutes and the Langmuir isotherm adsorption system with an adsorption capacity of 19.888 mg/g

Abstract

Abstract

physiological or metabolic processes that can cause cancer in humans. Adsorption is one of the method that is quite effective for removing Cr(VI) in waters because this method uses low cost with good efficiency. Sugar palm fruit peel waste can be used as an adsorbent because it contains active compounds such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats that can play a role in the absorption of metal ions. This sugar palm peel waste will be immobilized using a Ca-alginate medium to increase the absorption of mechanical forces in the adsorption process. The sugar palm fruit peel was activated using 4% NaOH, which was then immobilized by Ca-alginate. The adsorbent was tested to determine its functional group using FTIR and using SEM EDX to see the surface morphology and the elements present in the adsorbent. The results showed that the optimum absorption of metal ions Cr(VI) using Ca-alginate immobilized palm peel as adsorbent at optimum pH 2 with an efficiency of 63% and adsorption capacity of 0.35396 mg/g, the optimum contact time was 75 minutes with an efficiency of 73, 83% and adsorption capacity of 0.41314 mg/g and the optimum concentration at 150 ppm with adsorption capacity of 13.15185 mg/g

Abstract

Ceiba pentandra (Kapok) is a tropical plant belonging to the Malvales that contain palm oil. Naturally, Pure Plant Oil (PPO) can be used as a renewable energy source that is a promising energy alternative instead of fossil. Somehow, one of the effects of the quality of Pure Plant Oil (PPO) is the presence of unsaturated bonds and the presence of oxygen. The most appropriate method to overcome these problems is hydrodeoxygenation using a batch system autoclave reactor. In the present work, we synthesized of Green Diesel using hydrodeoxygenation and NiMo/-Al2O3 catalyst to saturate double bonds and remove oxygen. The yield of pure plant oil was 42.77-74.72% while the yield of green diesel at pressure conditions of 30 and 50 bar and at temperatures of 300, 350 and 400C produced 76.73 94.06%. Then, the best condition for the hydrodeoxygenation reaction for the biggest yield is at a pressure of 50 bar at 350C. The results of the characterization of gas products using GC-TCD showed the composition of gases H2, O2, CO, CH4, and CO2. Whereas for green diesel liquid products, pure plant oil, and kapok seed oil were analyzed using GC-MS obtained hydrocarbon compounds with interval C10-C20. Quality analysis of kapok seed oil, pure plant oil, and green diesel has been in accordance with quality standards except for FFA and viscosity.

Abstract

The need for particle board interiors is still in great demand to be used as wood-sourced interiors. In line with this, currently the problem of waste is still a fairly complex problem, both organic and inorganic waste. Coffee rinds and tofu pulp are organic wastes that have not been optimally utilized. Therefore, research was conducted on the manufacture of particleboard from coffee rinds and tofu pulp with PP plastic adhesive which aims to reduce the rate of deforestation due to tree felling as raw material for interior manufacturing and to control the environment by utilizing waste in the community into functional products. This study aims to determine the best formulation of particleboard made from Polyethylene plastic, coffee bean hulls and tofu pulp. Tofu dregs need to be preserved by soaking the dregs for 48 hours in a 5% glycerol solution and 15% NaCl solution in a 50:50 ratio. Then soaked for 48 hours. soaking 15.121%. To determine a good particleboard formulation, a physical evaluation of the particleboard was carried out including particleboard density test, water absorption test, moisture content test, thickness development test and instrumentation testing using SEM to see the surface structure of the particleboard.  Based on the results of physical testing, the best formulation of particleboard biocomposites was obtained, namely the ratio of 70:30 (% w/b) (70% of tofu pulp and coffee bean skin and 30% of PET plastic) which is in accordance with SNI 03-2105-2006 standards. Biocomposite particleboard formulation 70:30 (% w/b) has a density of 0.60186 gr/cm3, water absorption of 95.395%, moisture content of 2.248% and an increase in thickness after soaking of 15.121%.
