Abstract

Sedation is reduction of irritability or agitation by administration of sedative drugs. Sedation procedures are performed on patients who have anxiety and pain. Curettage is invasive procedures for women who require sedation procedures. Inadequate sedative during curettage can cause restlessness. Bad management of pain and anxiety should impact on women's psychological trauma. Ketamine-Propofol is a combination sedative drug that is effective, safe sedation and analgesia. This study aims to overview the sedative effects of ketamine propofol on curettage patients with general anesthesia based on the Bispectral index score at Margono Soekarjo Hospital, Purwokerto. The design of this study uses a descriptive observational. The sampling technique used in this research is random sampling with 38 respondents. The results showed that the sedation depth was good, the mean arterial pressure was optimal, the pulse rate was normal, the respiratory rate was normal, and the saturation was normal. Abstract

The use of time in anesthesia services in central surgical installations can be seen in the quality of service provided by health workers to patients. There are many factors that cause anesthesia services to take a long time. This study aims to determine the description of anesthesia ready time (ART) in anesthesia services at the Central Surgery Installation (IBS) of Banjarnegara Islamic Hospital. The research method uses quantitative data with a descriptive observational approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, and the sample size according to the inclusion criteria was 128 respondents from elective surgery patients using spinal anesthesia and general anesthesia and classified as ASA I-IV status. The data collection technique is observation using ART. The results of the study showed that ART was in the good category, resulting in 114 respondents, consisting of 45 respondents with general anesthesia and 69 respondents with spinal anesthesia. Conclusion: Anesthesia services at the central surgical installation of RSI Banjarnegara are categorized as good according to international measurements using ART.

Abstract

Postoperative nausea and vomiting is a condition that can occur within 24 hours after surgery, and can impact patient harm and cause complications. This study aims to identify the incidence of nausea and vomiting in post-cesarean section patients with spinal anesthesia. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive retrospective research design. Researchers analyzed patient medical records at ST. Teresa Marampa Hospital from January to December 2023, with a sample of 80 respondents using the total sampling technique. The data collection tool used was an observation sheet. Of the 80 respondents, general characteristics based on age showed that most respondents were aged 26-35 years (45 people, 56.3%). Based on labor history, the majority were multiparous (43 people, 53.8%), and 100% of respondents had a history of at term pregnancy. Most respondents did not experience nausea and vomiting (62 people, 77.5%). The profile of nausea and vomiting after cesarean section with spinal anesthesia at ST Hospital. Teresa Marampa Hospital showed that 77.5% of respondents did not experience nausea and vomiting. This finding has important clinical implications, as these results may help in clinical decision making regarding postoperative management. By understanding the profile of nausea and vomiting, medical personnel can design more effective prevention strategies, improve patient comfort, and reduce the risk of complications.

Abstract

Introduction: Anxiety is a psychological problem that often arises in patients before undergoing surgery, especially in the pre-anesthesia phase. This condition can affect physiological responses such as increased heart rate, irregular breathing patterns, and high blood pressure. At Ajibarang Regional General Hospital, most pre-anesthesia patients are known to experience moderate to severe anxiety, while standardized non-pharmacological interventions to address this problem are not yet available. Therefore, an effective and easy-to-implement approach is needed to help reduce patient anxiety before surgery. Objective: Assessing the effectiveness of deep breathing relaxation techniques as a non-pharmacological intervention in reducing anxiety levels in pre-anesthesia patients at Ajibarang Regional General Hospital. Method: The intervention was carried out using deep breathing relaxation techniques through controlled breathing exercises designed to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, thereby creating a state of relaxation. The patients' anxiety levels were measured using the APAIS (Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale) instrument before and after the intervention. A total of 30 pre-anesthesia patients underwent this structured therapy process. Result: The results show a significant decrease in anxiety after administering deep breathing relaxation techniques. A total of 30 participants took part in the activity, predominantly adults (96.7%) and women (66.7%). The majority underwent major surgery (83.3%). Before the intervention, anxiety levels were in the moderate (93.3%) and severe (6.7%) categories. After being given deep breathing relaxation techniques, there was a decrease in anxiety, with 93.3% of respondents in the mild anxiety category and no one experiencing severe anxiety. Conclusion: Deep breathing relaxation techniques have been proven effective in reducing anxiety levels in pre-anesthesia patients at Ajibarang Regional General Hospital. This intervention can be recommended as a simple, safe, and easy-to-implement non-pharmacological procedure as part of preoperative preparation in the pre-anesthesia room.

Abstract

Introduction: Postoperative pain is common after Caesarean section and may delay recovery. Strawberry aromatherapy patches offer a complementary non-pharmacological approach by promoting relaxation, improving patient comfort, and reducing pain perception. Objective: this communityservice activity aimed to evaluate the implementation of strawberry aromatherapy patches in reducing pain intensity in patients following a cesarean section. In addition, this study also examines the influence of respondent characteristics—including age, parity, and delivery history—on the reduction in pain levels experienced by patients. Method: This community service activity involved 30 post-Caesarean section patients in the Bougenville Ward. Strawberry aromatherapy patches were applied for 6–8 hours, and pain intensity was assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: The findings demonstrated that strawberry aromatherapy patches effectively reduced pain intensity among the 30 participating patients. Normality testing showed that pre-intervention pain scores were not normally distributed (p = 0.037), whereas post-intervention scores were normally distributed (p = 0.192), indicating different distribution patterns before and after the intervention. Conclusion: The application of strawberry aromatherapy patches reduced postoperative pain intensity in patients following Caesarean section, with mean pain scores decreasing from 5.35 before the intervention to 3.17 afterward. These findings suggest that strawberry aromatherapy patches may serve as a practical complementary non-pharmacological approach to postoperative pain management.
