Abstract

The availability of adequate water is one of the key factors in supporting increased food productivity, especially in areas that have large agricultural potential such as the Warsansom Watershed (DAS), West Papua. This research aims to predict water availability in the Warsansom watershed using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model. The SWAT model was chosen because of its ability to simulate hydrological processes, erosion and land use dynamics in a spatial-temporal manner. The data used includes rainfall, temperature, topography, soil type and land use patterns. The analysis results show that the average annual rainfall is 322 mm/year, with an annual average temperature of 26.49°C. The Warsansom watershed area is dominated by secondary dryland forest (78.69%) which contributes significantly to groundwater infiltration and recharge. Regional delineation resulted in 33 sub-watersheds with a total area of ??144,280 ha, as well as 273 hydrological response units (HRU) which became the basis for identifying critical areas in water management. SWAT simulations reveal potential risks of surface runoff in areas with steep slopes (36.53%) that require conservation interventions to reduce erosion and sedimentation. This research recommends data-based strategies for optimizing water resource management, including improving irrigation infrastructure, developing cropping patterns that are adaptive to water availability, and mitigating the impacts of climate change. By utilizing SWAT simulations, it is hoped that food productivity in the Warsansom watershed can increase sustainably, supporting food security in the West Papua region

Abstract

Sembadak Village is one of the villages located in Pemulutan District Ogan Ilir Regency has problems with the availability of clean water. The water used by the community comes from a tributary of the Ogan River is relatively cloudy. This condition can cause the risk of health problems, especially water-borne diseases such as dysentery, cholera, gastroenteritis, and other diseases. Villagers still use river water as a source of clean water for their daily needs, namely for bathing, washing, and other purposes. Although there is a Regional Clean Water Company in Pemulutan District, the community has not been able to access the water, and complaints from the community and community health center staff are still relatively cloudy. To overcome these problems, a water filtration system with a filtration method is applied to this community service activity. Water filtration with this filtration method uses several media namely silica sand, coconut shell activated charcoal, sponge, and nano filter to filter sediment particles. This sand filter is operated in an up-flow manner and then the overflow is fed into a gradual pipe filtration. The step-pipe filter consists of two 4 inch pipes containing shell charcoal, sand, and sponge. This system is designed with filter materials that are easy to find and simple system construction; it can be maintained, operated, and duplicated by the local community. The filtration system can reduce several parameters, including turbidity, iron and manganese level, and pH in raw water.

Abstract

The Mosquito Nest Eradication Program (PSN) is currently not optimally implemented in controlling Dengue Fever vectors, so an alternative strategy is needed to overcome it, especially in the working area of the Sukarami Health Center which has an incidence rate of Dengue Fever in 2022 of 21 cases with 2 deaths. One of the efforts carried out is a community-based larval survey that is sustainable with efforts to apply lethal ovitrap which can inhibit and break the developmental phase of the larvae. Activities carried out in the form of practice on how to make lethal ovitrap to cadres of larva monitors and the community directly. The larva monitors as an extension of the sanitarian/sanitation officer were given instructions on how to make lethal ovitrap, after which lethal ovitrap was made for the community whose family members were positive for Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever and the community around the house with a target of 105 houses with 10 jumantik and 2 lecturers as community administrators. and 10 students. From this activity, cadres of larva monitoring (jumantik) and the community were able to make lethal ovitrap and there was an increase in the larva-free rate (ABJ) after the application of lethal ovitrap which would reduce the breeding potential of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the larval phase. The results that have been achieved are 105 households surveyed by larvae and the practice of making lethal ovitrap by the community and cadres of larva monitors as an alternative effort in controlling larvae which can increase the larvae-free rate in the Sukarami Palembang Health Center area from 92.5% to 95%.

Abstract

The current mosquito nest eradication program (PSN) is not optimal, so alternative strategies are needed to overcome the problem. One of them is increasing efforts to eradicate dengue fever vectors, namely Ae. aegypti mosquitoes are the main vectors and Ae. Albopictus is the companion vector. Both types of mosquitoes are found throughout Indonesia, living optimally at altitudes above 1,000 m above sea level, but according to some reports can be found in areas with altitudes up to '1,500 m asl.m'. Aedes mosquitoes are native to Brazil and Ethiopia, and their adult stage is on average smaller than other types of mosquitoes. The efforts made are to socialize and cultivate zodiac plants as mosquito repellent, thus having an impact on reducing cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the Sako Health Center area which continues to increase every year. The location of community service activities is the working area of the Sako Health Center where the incidence of dengue fever is quite high. Intended to serve the community, the methods used are by existing theories and research findings, namely Puskesmas, and officers in their target locations make efforts to plant/utilize zodiac plants to reduce the risk of disease cases—dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).

Abstract

The presence of weeds in paddy rice crops results in a decrease in yields. Appropriate weed control methods are needed as an effort to reduce potential production losses. The first step to find out the right way to control weeds is by identifying the dominance and diversity of existing weeds. This study aims was to determine the dominance and diversity of weeds in organic and conventional paddy fields. This research was conducted in organic and conventional paddy fields of Lampung State Polytechnic, Lampung Province from October to December 2022. Weeds were observed on the 0.5 m2 quadrant method with 10 replications. The data were analyszed to find the Summed Dominance Ratio (SDR) value to determine the dominant weed and the Shannon - Wiener index (H') value to determine weed diversity. The identification results showed there were 11 weed species in organic land and 7 weed species in conventional land. Broadleaf weeds were the most dominant weeds in both land areas, namely Monochoria vaginalis in organic rice fields and Spenochlea zeylanica in conventional rice fields. The results of the weed diversity index analysis showed that in both land areas fall into the category of moderate diversitywith the value of  2.31 in organic rice fields and 1.93 in conventional rice fields.

Abstract

The presence of weeds can result in a reduction in the productivity of rubber plants, necessitating the implementation of control measures. Among the various control methods, the use of herbicides derived from paraquat dichloride has been identified as a more effective and efficient approach in terms of cost and time. However, the application of weed control measures can lead to alterations in the structure and composition of weeds. The objective of this study was to ascertain the prevalence of weeds and the impact of paraquat dichloride herbicide on the composition of weeds in rubber plantations. This study employed a randomized group design with six treatments and four replications. The treatments consisted of doses of paraquat dichloride, including 310.5 g/ha (P1), 414 g/ha (P2), 496.8 g/ha (P3), 621 g/ha (P4), mechanical control (P5), and control (P6). The results demonstrated that paraquat dichloride herbicide was efficacious in the control of weeds with a rapid onset, yet exhibited a limited duration in comparison to crop-translocated herbicides. This was evidenced by the diversity of weed species dominance at SDR 4 WAA < 8 WAA < 12 WAA. The application of paraquat dichloride herbicide and mechanical control were found to induce alterations in weed composition.

Abstract

Elementary science learning is intended to provide direct experience in developing students' abilities so that they can explore and understand the natural surroundings scientifically. Freedom to learn means that educators and their students have the freedom to innovate, the freedom to learn independently and creatively. This study aims to describe the application of independent learning according to the teachings of Ki Hajar Dewantara in elementary science learning and the constraints of implementing independent learning in science learning at SDN 1 Sidogede, Prembun District. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research with a case study research strategy. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used is source triangulation and method triangulation which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results of this study indicate that SDN 1 Sidogede will carry out learning based on three indicators from the Teachings of Ki Hajar Dewantara, namely students are comfortable in the learning process, students have a high social conscience and students are independent or free in determining the talents and interests they like. The obstacles are that when learning takes place it cannot run optimally because of signal constraints, students are shy and insecure, low grade students are less able to concentrate like upper classes, and limited funds to bring in trainers who can help students develop their talents and interests.
