Abstract

This research aims to carry out an information system audit on the Academic Information System (SIAKAD) at the Institute of Technology and Business (ITB) Semarang by utilizing the COBIT 5 Framework. An information system audit is a crucial step to assess the effectiveness, effciency and security of the informatiion system operated by organization. COBIT 5 as an internationally recognized Framework, provides a structured approach to ensuring the governance and management of information technology effective.his research uses an evaluation methodology for key processes in COBIT 5, such as risk management, IT service management, and IT resource management, which are relevant to the implementation of SIAKAD. Data was obtained through interviews, observation and review of internal documents. The audit results comply with several COBIT 5 standards, although there are several areas that still require improvement to increase system perfomance and security. It is hoped that this researcher can provide strategic recommendations for ITB Semarang to optimize academic information systems, as well as become a reference for other institutions that wish to implement COBIT 5 in information system audits.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of cosine similarity as a distance metric to enhance Javanese script (Hanacaraka) recognition. A dataset of 4,385 images representing 20 classes was processed using Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) for feature extraction and classified using K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) optimized via GridSearchCV. The SVM with cosine similarity achieved an accuracy of 99.84%, outperforming traditional metrics like Euclidean and Minkowski distances, as well as prior methods such as CNN-SVM and LBP-SVM. Cosine similarity's emphasis on angular relationships, rather than magnitude, made it effective for handling high-dimensional and intricate patterns. ANOVA analysis confirmed significant differences among distance metrics, validating cosine similarity’s advantages. This research supports cultural preservation and advances pattern recognition technologies. Future studies should explore integrating cosine similarity with deep learning models like CNNs or Transformers to improve scalability and adapt to broader datasets, including other traditional scripts.

Abstract

Pattern recognition of Javanese script (Hanacaraka) plays a vital role in cultural preservation through digital technology. This study aims to develop a classification model for Javanese script images using Support Vector Machine (SVM) with a Cosine similarity kernel, supported by parameter optimization to enhance accuracy. A dataset of 4,385 images underwent preprocessing and feature extraction using Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG). SVM parameter optimization via GridSearchCV resulted in a significant accuracy improvement. The proposed model achieved a 99.84% accuracy, outperforming previous methods such as CNN-SVM and DCNN. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of Cosine similarity in Javanese script recognition and contributes to the advancement of machine learning-based classification systems.

Abstract

This Community Service activity was driven by the low adoption of digital marketing strategies among palm sugar-producing MSMEs in Branjang Village, Semarang Regency, Central Java. These MSMEs still rely on conventional marketing methods and have not fully utilized digital tools to communicate product value. The main goal of this program was to enhance the capacity of MSME actors to create emotionally and culturally relevant digital content using quotes. The method applied was a community-based participatory educational approach, starting from needs assessment to contextual quote creation training. The results showed that the quote-based strategy successfully increased awareness among MSME actors about the importance of emotional narratives in building product identity and consumer engagement. Significant shifts were observed in participants’ perceptions of social media, new initiatives to document production processes emerged, and meaningful quotes were developed reflecting the uniqueness and cultural values of local palm sugar. This approach was found to be effective, simple, and inclusive, bridging technical limitations with strong local potential.

Abstract

Tujuan pelaksanaan Pengabdian ini adalah untuk membantu UMKM gula aren di Desa Margosari agar memiliki lambang atau logo dalam meningkatkan identitas merek dengan sebuah pelatihan. Dengan demikian, logo UMKM ini akan memungkinkan masyarakat untuk mengenal produk mereka dengan lebih baik, dan baik dalam pemasaran tradisional maupun dalam pemasaran digital. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) pada Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) Gula Aren dilaksanakan di kediaman tokoh pengrajin gula aren. Cara yang digunakan pada program PkM ini dengan penyuluhan interaktif dimulai dengan penyampaian materi menyesuaikan kemampuan pemahaman peserta dan dilanjutkan dengan materi tanya jawab mengenai strategi pemasaran digital. Evaluasi dilakukan sebagai tahap akhir pengadian untuk memperoleh pemahaman tentang sejauh mana peserta mampu memahami materi yang disampaikan, baik itu materi paparan maupun materi tanyajawab. Lalu dilanjut dengan pelatihan pembuatan logo. Pelatihan sering dianggap sebagai aktivitas yang paling umum dan para pimpinan mendukung adanya pelatihan karena melalui pelatihan, para pekerja akan menjadi lebih trampil dan karenanya akan lebih produktif. Kegiatan ini mendapatkan apresiasi yang baik dari pelaku pelaku UMKM gula aren Desa Margosari Kecamatan Limbangan Kabupaten Kendal. Dengan mengikuti kegiatan tersebut pelaku UMKM gula aren Desa Margosari mendapatkan pengetahuan tambahan tentang penggunakan logo untuk pemasaran. Pelaku UMKM menilai bahwa kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat dan harapannya dapat berkesinambungan agar dalam menjalankan usaha lebih tertata dan terstruktur. Perkembangan usaha lebih meningkat serta berdampak pada pendapatan laba yang meningkat.

Abstract

This study focuses on optimizing the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) algorithm for Javanese script classification using the Cosine Similarity metric. Through a grid search in cross-validation, the optimal combination of hyperparameters, including the number of neighbors, weighting functions, and distance metrics, was identified. The results demonstrate that the Cosine Similarity metric with a distance weighting scheme achieved the best accuracy of 99.99%. Furthermore, evaluation based on precision, recall, and f1-score revealed highly stable performance across various classes, with most achieving perfect scores. Compared to previous methods, such as LBP, CNN, and DCNN, this approach shows a significant accuracy improvement. These findings indicate that optimizing KNN with the Cosine Similarity metric is highly reliable for developing classification models for complex patterns.

Abstract

Saat ini, proses pemasaran produk yang dilakukan oleh kelompok-kelompok usaha kecil yang ada di Desa Margosari, Kelurahan Limbangan, Kabupaten Kendal, Jawa Tengah masih dilakukan melalui personal selling. Hal ini dirasa kurang efektif dan efisien. Strategi pemasaran yang banyak diterapkan oleh perusahaan dalam melakukan promosi di era industri 4.0 ini adalah digital marketing. Media digital marketing yang banyak digunakan oleh para pelaku usaha baik usaha kecil menengah maupun perusahaan besar salah satunya adalah landing page. Untuk membantu memperluas proses pemasaran produk yang dihasilkan oleh kelompok-kelompok usaha kecil tersebut, dilakukan kegiatan pengenalan dan pelatihan pembuatan landing page yang dapat membantu memperluas wilayah pemasaran sehingga meningkatkan jumlah konsumen dan pendapatan. Manfaat yang diperoleh dari pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini, antara lain kelompok-kelompok usaha kecil yang ada di Desa Margosari dapat meningkatkan pengetahuannya tentang penggunaan digital marketing khususnya pemanfaatan landing page dalam proses pemasaran produknya, melalui digital marketing, wilayah pemasaran produk menjadi lebih luas, sehingga dapat menjangkau konsumen yang berada di luar daerah, dengan bertambahnya jumlah konsumen, jumlah pendapatannya yang diperoleh juga meningkat.
