Abstract

Tempo magazine’s coverage of Team Mawar, who is suspected of being the mastermind behind the post-20 election riots has attracted a lot of media attention. In order to analyze this, the researcher used the Pan and Kosicki framing analysis method. This research focuses on reporting on post-election riots in 2019. In this study, researchers used the Monday, June 10, 2019 edition of Tempo magazine as the unit of analysis. The results of this study is news framing by Tempo magazine is carried out by among others; selecting news sources, selecting quotations from news sources, using pronouns, repeating word and placing images that can support news framing. Abstract

Women and beauty are two things that are interrelated. The way each women looks for the meaning of their beauty are different. The mass media1 plays the important1 role in the process of defining women about beauty. Women’s beauty can support their physical appearance and they have their own way of finding the meaning of beauty according to them. The advertisement of Make Over Beauty Beyond Rules: Art Collaboration present to convey that beauty has no rules or standards that must be fulfilled and women must be dare to express themselves and be confident because beauty has no limits. This study was analyzed1 by using qualitative approach with descriptive research method and using Charles Sanders Peirce’s1 semiotic1 theory. The result of this study showed that beauty has no rules that must be fulfilled and as a woman, you must have the courage to express yourself and know your inner values. Abstract

As an urban ecotourism object in Denpasar City, Tukad Bindu has a responsibility in spreading awareness to the local residents about the importance of environmental conservation. This research has a goal to spread the awareness of Tukad Bindu as an urban ecotourism object by composing a communication strategy. This is a descriptive qualitative type of research, using two data collection techniques such as interviews and documentation. The outcome of this study indicate that the Tukad Bindu Foundation seeks to build awareness through informative and educational communication techniques in the form of workshops, community service, etc. In addition, the Tukad Bindu Foundation also utilizes social media in the form of Instagram and Facebook as a channel to deliver the information and education about Tukad Bindu. Abstract

“Menjadi Bapak-Bapak: Bagian Pengantar – Revisi 2” is a group on Facebook that accomodates their members to interact each others like how a dad interact. This study purposes is to know and explain how the symbolic interactionism within the group’s member. This study is a descriptive-qualitative study which used Symbolic Interactionism theory by George Herbert Mead with its three main concept: ‘mind’, ‘self’ and ‘society’. The data in this study were collected using interview and documentation method. The study results show that the groups were founded to facilitate the members to can interact with “dad’s joke”, which is also being the symbols on this group. In ‘mind’ concept, the group members interprets dad’s jokes using cringe and unique typing style. In ‘self’ concepts, the group members build their own self concept through group interaction. In ‘society’ concepts, this group as a social network constructed by its members through their interaction. Keywords: Symbolic Interactionism, Mind, Self, Society

Abstract

2020 is synonymous with the political year, one of the regions that holds regional head elections is Solo. One of the candidate pairs in the Pilwalkot Solo is Gibran Rakabuming who’s promoted by PDIP. Gibran is actively campaigning on Instagram and it's considered an impression management practice. Impression management is a self-representation toJURNAL NIN control image when interacting with people. The quantitative descriptive content analysis method with the theory of 5 Impression Management Tactics by Jones and Pittman was used to analyze posts during the campaign period on @gibran_rakabuming Instagram account. Based on the analysis, the tactic most often used is ingratiation with sub indicators expressing sympathy for other parties 28 times and the least amount of tactics is intimidation with sub indicators expressing feelings of anger about something. This illustrates that Gibran only wants to highlight a positive image because it's considered to represent an ideal attitude of a leader. Abstract

ABSTRACT Podcasts are on-demand audio files uploaded on the platform to be heard anytime and anywhere. Podcasts can currently be heard through the Spotify music streaming app with a wide variety of genres. The use of media by individuals is influenced by motives. This study aimed to find out what the motives and how the satisfaction of millennials in Denpasar in listening to podcasts through Spotify. The media consumption motives used in this study is Uses and Gratifications Theory forward by Papacharissi and Rubin. This study uses descriptive quantitative method with purposive sampling. Data were obtained by distributing questionnaires using Likert scale. The data analysis techniques used are descriptive statistics comparing the average score of motives and satisfaction. The results showed that there five motives that can be satisfied in listening podcast trough Spotify are information motive, utility motive, convenience motive, pass time motive, and entertainment motive. Abstract

In this global era, social media has become part of people's daily lives, Twitter as an example. Twitter's popularity has increased since 2018, and a trend has emerged for the use of "Twitter, please do your magic”. The purpose of this study is to discover how Twitter as a social media affects the adolescent’s social sensitivity in Denpasar City. This study uses associative quantitative research methods using uses and effects as the theoretical base and involves up to 70 adolescent respondents. The data analyzed using simple linear regression. The result of this research indicate the level of exposure Twitter "Twitter please do your magic" on the adolescent’s social sensitivity in Denpasar City is in the medium range, but it is known to have a positive and significant influence value. Every increase detected in exposure of "Twitter please do your magic", the adolescent’s social sensitivity in Denpasar City will also increase. Abstract

ABSTRACT “Elites Revolution Crew Bali is the oldest and still active K-Pop dance cover community in Bali. Elites Revolution Crew Bali was formed because they like K-Pop and have a hobby of dancing which was established on March 13, 2013. The purpose of this study was to explain the communication patterns in the dance cover community of Elites Revolution Crew Bali. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. Informants were selected using purposive technique. Data obtained through interviews and documentation study. The data analysis techniques used in the study were data reduction, data presentation and the final step to draw conclusions. The results of this study Elites Revolution Crew Bali uses two types of communication patterns in interaction, namely, the wheel communication pattern used during serious formal activities or meetings and the communication patterns of all channels used during informal, casual activities. Abstract

TikTok is a social media platform that supports its users to create and upload short videos easily and quickly. Although its reputation is better than Instagram in Top Apps Worldwide for July 2020 and has different typical users, many users have also uploaded TikTok videos on Instagram. The purpose of this research is to find out the motives of teenagers in Denpasar City to upload TikTok videos on Instagram. Data in this quantitative descriptive study were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistic analysis techniques. Based on the uses and gratification theory as well as a combination of motives according to McQuail and Papacharissi and Rubin, the results show that the most encouraging motive for teenagers in Denpasar who upload TikTok videos on Instagram is pass time motive, while that is a less encouraging motive is social integration and interaction motive. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the communication pattern applied by iKONIC as a cyberfandom on Twitter. This research is descriptive qualitative research by applying the netnography method. The selection of informants is based on the availability and willingness of the informants. The research data were obtained through two sources. The primary sources of this research were through depth interviews and participant observations. The secondary sources come from previous works of literature related to this research. The data obtained from this research were analyzed through several stages, through data reduction, data presentation, conclusion, and verification. Through this research, it is known that iKONIC as a cyberfandom on Twitter generally applied all channels pattern on the communication process. In different context of interactions this fandom applies three different types of communication patterns based on the communication context, those types are Y pattern, wheel pattern and circle pattern.
