Abstract

The Gua Meze Ritual is a harvest thanksgiving ritual that is carried out in July according to the local community calendar. This ritual has 33 series which are divided into three major stages, namely Preparation, Ritual Celebrations and Restoration. This study examines the nonverbal meanings contained in rituals using the theory of Semiotics by Roland Barthes. Research in Traditional Villages Tutubhada Rendu Tutubhada Village, South Aesesa District, Nagekeo Regency was carried out with the aim of knowing the meaning of nonverbal communication messages in the Gua Meze ritual. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data source is based on literature review of previous research, observation, interviews, and documentation. The results achieved in this study are an explanation of the meaning of Denotation, Connotation and Myth in the Gua Meze ritual series in the Rendu Tutubhada Traditional Village. Abstract

ABSTRACT Memories of My Body film is one of the controversial films in Indonesia that is suspected to contain negative content for the younger generation, one of which is violence. The purpose off this research is to explain the verbal and non-verbal violence contained in Memories of My Body film used descriptive quantitative content analysis..The results showed thattthe Memories of My Body film featured verbal and non verbal violence 108 times. The most frequent violence is verbal violence 58 times with the most scenes appearing to be yelling as many as 30 times. Non-verbal violence that occurs in the film appears as many as 50 times with the most scenes that appear to be injured with objects or weapons as many as 20 times. In addition, in the Memories of My Body film, the violence looks the most dominant performed by men. Keywords: Content Analysis, Movies, Verbal Violence, Non Verbal Violence

Abstract

-ABSTRACT- Personal branding of political actors is a step to shape people’s perception of aspects, including personality, ability, skills to integrity. The use of social media by political actors asaa medium of political communication is one of the steps in the formation of personal branding of legislative candidates. This study aims to analyze Fadli Zon’s personal branding as a legislative candidate on @fadlizon personal twitter account during the campaign period of 28th September 2018 – 13rd April 2019. This researchUuses qualitative descriptive research method and analyzed using three main dimensions of personal branding shaper. The result of this study was found 6 tweets without re-tweet found in the period 28th September 2018 – 13rd April 2019. During the campaign, Fadli Zon showed that he was critical, technologically responsive, credible, and populist legislative candidate. Abstract

Personal branding is explained as a communication strategy about a person's characteristics that can lead people to sympathize or support them. Personal branding can be found on social media, especially TikTok. Jharna Bhagwani is a young girl of Indian-Indonesian blood who is pouring her hobby into makeup. The results of the makeup content are dominantly containing tips, tricks, point of view (stories/roles), and daily makeup. This study aims to determine the formation of Jharna Bhagwani's personal branding as a beauty influencer through TikTok. This research is a descriptive qualitative research on personal branding theory by Montoya, namely the 8 laws of personal branding and semiotic analysis by Peirce. The results of this study that Jharna is a beauty influencer who displays the implied meaning of most of her makeup videos. Her makeup content has also succeeded in bringing her achievements, "Best of Fashion & Beauty" at TikTok Award Indonesia 2020. Keywords: personal branding, Jharna Bhagwani, beauty influencer, TikTok

Abstract

The issue of repatriation of ex-ISIS Indonesian citizens have become controversial in Indonesia. This research conducted to find out how the issue was framed by BBC News Indonesia. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data source is obtained from the BBC's coverage series with the theme ‘Setelah ISIS Jatuh' which was published in February 2020. The method used in this research is Robert Entman's framing model analysis which states that every media constructing news must go through four stages, (1) define problems, (2) diagnose causes, (3) make moral judgment, and (4) treatment recommendation. The results, BBC News Indonesia admits that ISIS is a dangerous organization that threatens world security, so it is natural that ISIS militants are not given a pardon to return to their country of origin. However, the BBC highlights the lives of children who have fallen victim to ISIS to be pardoned for humanitarian reasons. Keyword: Indonesian citizens ex-ISIS, BBC News Indonesia, framing

Abstract

The millennial presidential expert staff became the public spotlight after being officially introduced by Jokowi on November 21, 2019. This is the first time young people were in the state palace. The joining of millennial expert staff in the government has become a growing issue and has been widely reported by the mass media. This study aims to identify and describe the news framing of millennial expert staff at tempo.co. The qualitative descriptive approach was used in this study with Robert Entman's framing analysis method. The data source for this research is tempo.co online news for the period 22 November 2019 – 25 November 2019. The results of this study indicate that the framing by tempo.co to form public opinions on the news of millennial expert staff divided into four major issues by presenting news reports repeatedly. Abstract

Tokopedia is one of the e-commerce in Indonesia that uses Brand Ambassador in commercial as their marketing strategy. Tokopedia appointed BTS, a boyband group from South Korea, as their Brand Ambassador since 2019. This study aims to find out the influence of Brand Ambassador BTS towards Brand Awareness of Tokopedia which focused on Tokopedia feat BTS commercial with Stimulus Organism Responds theory. This study using quantitative descriptive research with the data obtained from 100 respondents from age 16 to 34 years old in Denpasar City. The analysis shows that H1 accepted that Brand Ambassador BTS has influence towards Brand Awareness of Tokopedia. Furthermore, the coefficient value showed that 46,2% of Tokopedia’s Brand Awareness was influenced by BTS as their Brand Ambassador and that value categorized as medium category. The results of the Brand Awareness average variable showed, that the highest average of brand recognition indicator is 4,41. Keywords: Brand Ambassador, BTS, Brand Awareness, Tokopedia

Abstract

The trend of ASMR mukbang videos in Indonesia has increased since March 2018. ASMR mukbang videos are widely broadcast by Korean Youtubers, one of which is the 'Eat with Boki' ??account. It is proven that as of October 2020 the 'Eat with Boki' ??account has reached 4.65 million subscribers. The video content of 'Eat with Boki' ??is ASMR mukbang did by Moon Bokhee. This study aims to determine the reception that occurred to Communication Science students at Udayana University after watching the ASMR mukbang video ‘Eat with Boki’. The theory used in this study is Stuart Hall's Reception Theory with the analysis of Stuart Hall's Reception Analysis. The type of research used is descriptive-qualitative. This study involved six informants. The results of the analysis in this study that four people into the Dominant Position category, one person into the Negotiated Position category and one person into the Oppositional Position category. Abstract

The @infodenpasar Instagram account is an account that is part of INFO DENPASAR which aims to provide honest and accurate information in accordance with the journalistic code of ethics, the basic press law and the Electronic Information and Transaction (ITE) law. The purpose of this study is to find out what the motives of @infodenpasar Instagram account’s followers are to upload news in citizen journalism activities. This research uses descriptive quantitative method. The sampling technique used is side purposive technique. The results showed that of the 5 motive indicators, there were only 2 motive indicators that were included in the important category, namely to gain personal and the motive to be involved in the process of disseminating information. These results show that the 2 most important motives that encourage followers of the @infodenpasar Instagram account to upload news are for personal gain and to be involved in information dissemination process. Abstract

Uluwatu is a temple on a cliff in Bali. This study aimed to determine the integrated marketing communication strategy used by the Uluwatu tourist attraction manager to increase tourist visits. The researcher uses qualitative research methods to find out the marketing communication strategy for Uluwatu tourism objects and how the management of Pecatu Village regarding Uluwatu tourism objects.The data obtained described under the reality in the field then presented in the form of sentences.The data was obtained through an in-depth and literature study. The results showed that the strategy used by the Pecatu Traditional Village in managing Uluwatu tourism objects was through social media marketing celebrity endorsements, and print media, namely brochures. During the communication process between the Uluwatu tourist attraction managers and tourists,only two media have given positive responses:Instagram-where tourists always upload photos and videos about their visits made at Uluwatu attractions;Google business to provide experiences during their visit.
