Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of a baby's life is an important foundation for optimal growth and development. However, the success of an exclusive breastfeeding program is not only determined by the role of the mother, but also depends heavily on the support of the husband as the main companion. This community service activity aims to increase the involvement of husbands in supporting exclusive breastfeeding for the first child through an educational and participatory approach. The target of this activity was a married couple who were waiting for the birth of their first child in Bengkulu City. The implementation of the program is carried out through a series of activities in the form of counseling, interactive discussions, and continuous assistance during pregnancy up to six months after childbirth. Evaluation was carried out using pretest and posttest to measure changes in knowledge and attitudes, as well as observation of the husband's direct involvement in the breastfeeding process. The results showed a significant increase in husbands' knowledge and attitudes towards the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, as well as an increase in their involvement in supporting their wives both emotionally and practically. These findings confirm that education that actively involves husbands can be an effective strategy in supporting the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Therefore, breastfeeding counseling and mentoring programs in the community should be designed holistically by involving both parents as a supportive unit.

Abstract

Background: Poor sanitation is one of the main causes of the high prevalence of stunting and infectious diseases, especially in developing countries like Indonesia. Community-Based Total Sanitation (CBTS) is a strategic approach that involves active community participation in creating a clean and healthy environment through five main pillars: stopping open defecation, handwashing with soap, safe management of drinking water and food, household waste management, and household liquid waste management.Aims: The goal of this activity is to strengthen CBTS (Comprehensive Integrated Service Delivery System) in preventing stunting and reducing the risk of infection spread. Methods: The method used in this research was health education on strengthening CBTS, encompassing the stages of planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Results: Results show that before the intervention, the average knowledge score of respondents was 2.88 with a standard deviation of 0.71 and a standard error of 0.14. After the intervention, the average score increased to 4.35 with a standard deviation of 0.63 and a standard error of 0.12. The increase in the average score of 1.46 points indicates that the intervention had a positive impact on increasing respondents' knowledge. Conclusion: This CBTS strengthening education program can increase public understanding and knowledge about CBTS and its relationship to stunting in toddlers. Through synergy between the government, the community, and other stakeholders, CBTS can become a sustainable solution to address complex public health issues. Practical strategies for strengthening CBTS in local communities, including community empowerment, and community-based education, are needed.

Abstract

Bengkulu Province annual waste accumulation reaches 38,417.16 tons/year, and the volume of waste in Bengkulu City is increasing every day. The total waste entering the Landfills is 648.85 M3, and the condition of the TPA which has been operating for 32 years is expected to decline over the next year. Careless waste disposal will cause water to clog, which further leads to flood. Based on the 2020 Indonesian Disaster Risk Index, Bengkulu province is at the second highest risk for flood after West Sulawesi. This condition will even get worse if the water flow is blocked by waste. Simple action can turn waste into useful objects through waste donation. This study aims to implement waste donation program as an alternative innovation in managing household waste. This was a community-based study with a cross-sectional research design carried out in June and July 2023. The population involved family households in Bengkulu City in 2021. The study samples were selected using a simple random sampling technique which found 542 households. This study has obtained a certificate of ethical approval from the Bengkulu Health Polytechnic Number No. KEPK.BKL/416/06/2023 dated June 30, 2023. Data were analyzed through univariate analysis and analysis of interview results. Most households in Bengkulu City were aged 29-58 years, married, had less than a high school education, unemployed, and had poor levels of  knowledge, attitude, and behavior regarding household waste management. There is a need for commitment from the Environmental Service, District, Village, Head of Neighborhood Units (RT), LPM and Community Figures regarding the implementation of the Waste donation Program. The support of the smallest community unit, namely the Chairman of the Neighborhood Unit, is the key to the success of household waste management among households, especially in sorting organic and inorganic waste. Such practice will help make the waste donation program a success. Waste donation can be an alternative for households in worship and also help reduce the accumulation of waste in Landfills. It is recommended cooperation between the Village Community Empowerment Institution and the Waste Bank in providing routine assistance to the Waste donation Program.

Abstract

Coastal communities are mostly fishing communities that have different characteristics from other communities. This difference is due to its close relationship with the economic characteristics of coastal areas, cultural background and the availability of supporting facilities and infrastructure. In general, coastal communities have cultural values that are oriented towards being in harmony with nature, so that technology utilizing natural resources is an adaptive technology to the conditions of coastal areas. Garbage is an opportunity for environmental pollution accompanied by a decrease in aesthetic quality. The population can also influence the increase in the amount of waste. Apart from that, people's behavior of throwing rubbish on the coast is also a habit that can have a negative impact. 1 Based on data obtained from initial observations by the Community Service Student team in the Coastal area at Jalan Enggano 1 RT 04, Pasar Bengkulu Village, Sungai Serut District, waste management in this area is said to be very lacking, some residents even say there is none. And from the team's observations, it was found that in the area of Jl Enggano 1 RT 04, Pasar Bengkulu Village, Sungai Serut District, rubbish was still often found scattered in the yards of several residents' houses and on the side of the roads in the area. And very few residents' homes have private rubbish boxes and rubbish incinerator. This is the background for our team to carry out community service activities, namely "counseling about the impacts of littering in coastal communities in the city of Bengkulu".

The research methodology used was a cross-sectional quantitative design with a chi-square test sample of 106 people. Research findings show that there is a significant correlation between knowledge (P Value=0.000), however, there is no significant correlation between gender (P Value=0.568) and ownership of the JKN mobile application. So it can be concluded that knowledge has a relationship, while gender has no relationship with ownership of the JKN mobile application on BPJS Health participants in the UPT Ujan Mas Inpatient Health Center working are.  Keywords: BPJS, Health Services, Mobile JKN  ABSTRAK Asuransi kesehatan nasional memberi individu manfaat maupun perlindungan kesehatan untuk terpenuhinya kebutuhan kesehatan mendasar mereka.
