Abstract

Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Permata Kecamatan Paguyaman Kabupaten Boalemo. Masalah penurunan produktivitas padi di Boalemo salah satunya disebabkan oleh adanya hama. Penggunaan pestisida sintetik yang direkomendasikan pemerintah dapat mengendalikan populasi hama namun, berdampak pada lingkungan yakni 3R (Resurgensi hama, residu pestisida sintetik, dan Resistensi hama) sehingga diperlukan pestisida alternetif. Tubile merupakan tanaman yang ada di Desa Permata dan berpotensi sebagai pestisida nabati. Metode pengabdian ini dilakukan dua tahap yakni tahap persiapan dan tahap pelaksanaan program. Hasil panen dapat menghasilkan gabah kering sebanyak 9.331 Kg/Ha, sedangkan gabah kering yang dari pestisida sintetik dalam 1 Hektar tanah dapat menghasilkan gabah kering sebanyak 6.665 Kg/Ha

Abstract

Indonesia is renowned for its abundant and diserve natural resources, including various plants. Many medicinal plants are traditionally utilized due to their therapeutic benefits. The utilization of minnieroot leaves as a traditional medicine shuld be supported by comprehensive studies to identify the active compounds, thereby omproving their quality, safety and afficacy. Secondary metabolites in minnieroot, particularly in the leaves, contain polyphenolic compounds, while the roots are known to contain flavonoids. This study aims to identify secondary metabolite compounds in minnieroot (Reullia tuberosa L.) leafs methanol extract. The study utilized methanol as a solvent for the extract solution became colorless, resulting in a extract yield of 8,02% of the leaf’s weight. The qualitative test confirmed the presence of secondary matebolites, specifically flavonoids and tannin in the methanol extract of minnieroot leaves. The final result from column chromatography separation shows that crystals are formed in the sixth vial. The crystals areb brownish blackn in color and weigh 0, 1235 g.

Abstract

The Garuga floribunda (Garuga floribunda Decne) plant is one of the species known for its various medicinal properties. This research aims to investigate the inhibitory activity of α- glucosidase and α-amylase enzymes and to determine the optimum concentration of the methanol extract of Garuga floribunda leaves as an antidiabetic agent. The leaves extraction is obtained through an extraction process using methanol as the solvent and tested for itsinhibitory activity against the α-glucosidase enzyme using the p-nitrophenyl-α-D- glucopyranoside (p-NPG) substrate and the α-amylase enzyme using the DNS (3,5- dinitrosalicylic acid) substrate. The method is UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The Phytochemical tests of this plant reveal the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, steroids, and terpenoids. The inhibition test results show that the methanol extract of Garuga floribundaleaves exhibited significant inhibitory activity against both enzymes. The highest inhibition percentage against the α-glucosidase enzyme is 91.09%, indicating very high antidiabetic activity. Meanwhile, the inhibition against the α-amylase enzyme is 7.56%, showing no significant antidiabetic activity. The optimum concentration for inhibiting both enzymes is 1000 ppm.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the scientific argumentation skills of eleventh grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Telaga on the topic of electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collection method utilized a multiple-choice test with five indicators of scientific argumentatio, comprising 25 questions. The sample comprises 132 students from the eleventh grade at SMA Negeri 1 Telaga. The results reveal that students’ scientific argumentation skills on the topic of electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions are categorized as fair, with a claim level of 48,4%, data level of 53%, warrant level of 50,6%, backing level of 44,4%, and rebuttal level of 44,3%. It can be concluded that while students’ argumentation skills are aduwuate, many students still struggle to present a complete argumentation using all indicators. The active participation of both students and teachers during lessons is crucial to improving students’ scientific argumentation abilities, particularly in overcoming misconceptions related to electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' conceptual mastery of hydrocarbon compounds. The method used in the study is descriptive qualitative. The study was conducted in the even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The subjects of this study were 59 students of class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Limboto. The data collection technique used a concept mastery test instrument in the form of multiple choices that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed that conceptual understanding. The percentage of students in Determining the molecular formula and structure of hydrocarbon compounds obtained a percentage of 78.53% with a good category, on the indicator Distinguishing types of reactions and physical regularity of 67.80% with a sufficient category, on the indicator determining the isomers of hydrocarbon compounds of 40.68% with a less category, on the indicator analyzing the type of C atom based on the number of C atoms bound to the carbon atom chain of 27.12% with a less category, on the indicator predicting the type of isomers of hydrocarbon compounds, namely 38.42% with a less category and on the indicator correcting the structural formula of hydrocarbon compounds, namely 63.84% with a sufficient category. Then the total average percentage value is 52.73% with the Less category.

Abstract

Corn is the main commodity product and the flagship of Gorontalo Province, ranked in the top 10 in Indonesia. In Daenaa Village, West Limboto Subdistrict, corn has not been maximally processed to increase creative economic growth due to limited knowledge and processing techniques, even though Daenaa Village is a corn production center in Gorontalo Regency. This community service activity aims to improve the skills and income of the residents of Daenaa Village, West Limboto District, through training in making processed corn products such as tortilla chips and corn milk. The training on making tortilla chips involves the process of boiling corn with lime water, mixing spices, adding corn flour, to shaping and drying to produce a durable ready-to-fry product. Meanwhile, the process of making corn milk includes boiling young corn, grinding, filtering, and adding sugar, flavor, and CMC to create a nutritious drink with a soft texture. The final product is hygienically packaged and labeled to increase its selling value. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in processing corn into value-added products that have the potential to become micro-enterprises. Hopefully, this program can be the first step for the people of Daenaa Village to utilize local potential as a new source of sustainable income.

Abstract

Strengthening fundamental concepts in organic chemistry is crucial for students' academic and industrial success. This activity aimed to deepen students' understanding of hydrocarbons, including alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes, along with their physical and chemical properties. The activity also introduced key reactions such as combustion and substitution. Through this, students learned to identify molecular structures, nomenclature, and chemical properties of hydrocarbon compounds. The teaching methods used included lectures, simulations, group discussions, laboratory practices, and assessments through tests and quizzes. Discussions helped students clarify challenging concepts like the structural differences among hydrocarbons and their associated reactions. Emphasis was placed on laboratory work to ensure that students not only grasped theoretical concepts but also gained practical skills in handling chemicals, laboratory equipment, and following safety protocols. Results from the activity showed that this approach effectively enhanced both understanding and technical abilities. Students observed the unique properties and reactivity of hydrocarbons in controlled laboratory settings, which also encouraged the development of analytical and critical thinking skills. This initiative strengthened their foundation in organic chemistry and prepared them for future challenges in the chemical industry. The combination of hands-on practices and in-depth discussions proved effective in improving students' comprehension of hydrocarbons and their chemical behavior. Furthermore, it laid the groundwork for further learning about hydrocarbon derivatives and their diverse industrial applications.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the secondary metabolite compounds present in the ethanol extract of Plukenetia volubilis L. (sacha inchi) shells through phytochemical screening and LC-MS analysis. The extraction was performed using the maceration method with 95% ethanol as solvent, resulting in a yield of 47.33%. Qualitative phytochemical tests revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, saponins, and glycosides in the extract. Further LC-MS analysis tentatively identified several phenolic and flavonoid compounds with known biological activities, including sinapinic acid, 1-o-sinapoylglucose, and azelaic acid from the dicarboxylic acid group. The presence of these compounds highlights the potential of sacha inchi shell extract as a natural antioxidant and antidiabetic agent. These findings support the valorization of sacha inchi agricultural waste as a promising raw material for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.

Abstract

Sacha inchi (Plukenetia volubilis Linneo) is a plant from the Euphorbiaceae family known for its green star-shaped fruit and brown seeds. This plant has high nutritional value and significant antioxidant activity (Nuha and Sriwidodo 2022). This study aims to identify secondary metabolite compounds and determine the total phenolic content of the methanol extract of Plukenetia volubilis Linneo leaves. The samples were extracted using the maceration method, then phytochemical tests and total phenolic content analysis were carried out using the Folin-Ciocalteu method (Sari et al. 2021). The results of the phytochemical test showed that the methanol extract of sacha inchi leaves contained secondary metabolite compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. The total phenolic content obtained from the extract was 19.94%, which indicates the potential for high antioxidant activity. The results of this study indicate that sacha inchi leaves have the potential to be developed as a source of natural bioactive compounds that are beneficial to health.

Abstract

The stem bark of Bouea macrophylla (gandaria) represents a promising subject for further scientific investigation. Previous studies have reported that the bark contains high concentrations of total phenolic and flavonoid compounds, associated with potent antioxidant activity. This study evaluates the antioxidant and cytotoxic potential of the ethyl acetate fraction of B. macrophylla stem bark. Antioxidant activity was assessed using the DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging methods, while cytotoxic activity against MCF-7 breast cancer cells was determined using the MTT assay. The ethyl acetate fraction exhibited strong antioxidant activity with IC₅₀ values of 5.837 ± 0.060 ppm (DPPH) and 9.645 ± 0.697 ppm (ABTS). The cytotoxicity assay revealed an IC₅₀ value of 99.55 ppm, indicating moderate cytotoxic potential. These findings suggest that the ethyl acetate fraction of B. macrophylla stem bark possesses significant antioxidant activity and potential anticancer properties, supporting its possible application in natural therapeutic development.
