Abstract

One of the causes of stunting is iron deficiency. Iron is essential in optimizing the First 1,000 Days of Life (HPK), including preventing stunting. Adolescents who marry at a young age have risks, especially for babies, such as low birth weight (LBW), prematurity, asphyxia, and stunting. Therefore, young women need to ensure their physical preparedness, which includes maintaining a nutritious diet and preventing anemia. Additionally, they should know about toddlers' growth and development and readiness to face stunting. This community service activity aims to increase knowledge about reproductive health and provide iron tablets, especially to teenagers in Rusunawa, Klatak Village, Banyuwangi. The implementation method involves educating about reproductive health, checking hemoglobin (Hb) levels, and administering iron tablets. The activity results showed that before being given education about reproductive health, the average knowledge of teenagers was 31, and there was an increase in knowledge of 52 points after being given education, and none of the teenagers in the flats suffered from anemia. At the end of the activity, distribute ten blood supplement tablets taken once a week.

Abstract

Breast milk production should be prepared from pregnancy, especially in the third trimester. Many pregnant women in their third trimester have not yet produced colostrum. This impacts breast milk production in the first week postpartum, thus triggering the use of formula milk. One effort to stimulate colostrum production is by consuming carrot juice and honey. This study aims to determine the effect of giving carrot juice and honey to pregnant women in their third trimester on the timing of colostrum production as an effort to achieve successful breastfeeding at Susiani Independent Midwife Practice Banyuwangi in 2025. This research method uses a quasi-experimental two-design. The study used a post-test only with a control design. The population of this study was 60 respondents, 30 of whom were in the intervention group and 30 in the control group, with consecutive sampling as the sampling technique. The intervention was administered and consumed for 7 days, twice a day. The control group was given basic IEC (Information, Education, and Communication)  care for the Third Trimester. Normality and homogeneity tests were carried out, and the Levene test obtained normal values , so data analysis used the Independent Samples T-Test. The results showed that the average time for colostrum release in the intervention group was 4.87 days, with the fastest time on day 2 and the longest on day 7. In contrast, in the control group, it was 8.10 days, with the fastest time for colostrum release on day 4 and the longest on day 12. The results of the Independent Samples T-Test with a p value = 0.000 (<0.05), which means that there is an effect of giving carrot juice and honey to pregnant women in the THIRD TRIMESTER on the time for colostrum release as an effort to achieve successful breastfeeding. The results of this study will enable midwives to provide IEC on carrot juice and honey and to implement it as support for successful breastfeeding.

Abstract

The perinatal period brings physical, emotional, and social changes for mothers, which heighten their risk of experiencing perinatal depression. In 2022, its prevalence reached 20% in low- to middle-income countries. Worldwide, postpartum depression is regarded as a significant public health issue that demands targeted interventions. This study aims to review the results of research on the mothers’ experiences with perinatal depression. It used scoping review that consisted stages of conducting a focusing review using the SPIDER framework (Sample size, Phenomenon of Interest, Study Design, Evaluation, and Research type); conducting literature searches using relevant databases, i.e., Pubmed, Wiley, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Lexis Nexis and Sage Journals; Relevant studies were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria; conducting JBI critical appraisal to assess the quality of the literature; and conducting data extraction, analyzing and reporting the results. The PRISMA Flowchart, representing the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, was utilized to formally delineate the process of the literature search. Twenty articles met the inclusion criteria and were included in the review. Through thematic analysis, key concepts were identified and organized into three themes: symptoms, causes, and treatment of perinatal depression. Perinatal depression is a significant condition that requires timely detection and appropriate treatment to safeguard the health of both mothers and their babies. This study highlights how maternal experiences influence mental health and recovery, and it supports the development of interventions that are more sensitive to emotional and cultural needs.

Abstract

Anxiety is one of the psychological disorders that can occur among third-trimester pregnant. Progressive muscle relaxation therapy represents a potential intervention for alleviating anxiety. This research aimed to determine the impact of this therapy on anxiety levels in expectant mothersin the third trimester. This study is a pre-experimental study with a one-group pre and post- test design. Thesample used was 28 pregnant women in the third trimester chosen through a purposive sampling technique. The variables studied were anxiety level in facing childbirth and progressive muscle relaxation. The measuring instruments used were the SOP progressive muscle relaxation and the PerinatalAnxiety Screening Scale (PASS) questionnaire. The hypothesis test used was Wilcoxon in IBMSPSS Statistic 26.Prior to the intervention, the majority of respondents (71.4%, n=20) reported experiencing moderate anxiety. Following the intervention, a substantial shift was observed, with nearly all respondents (89.3%, n=25) exhibiting mild anxiety. There was a decrease in anxiety scores from 24.61 to 15.5. Based on the Wilcoxon analysis, therewas an effect of progressive muscle relaxation on anxiety in facing childbirth with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (<0.05).The efficacy of progressive muscle relaxation in alleviating childbirth-related anxiety among pregnant women has been conclusively demonstrated. Each progressive muscle relaxation movement provides a relaxing effect onevery muscle in the body. Pregnant women can apply this therapy independently to reduce anxiety.

Abstract

Background: Many pregnant women have low health literacy, negatively affecting maternal and child health. Digital innovations offer potential solutions for health education, but no interactive roadmap specifically addresses pregnancy-related health literacy. Objective: This study explores the experiences, needs, and preferences of pregnant women and stakeholders in developing an interactive digital education roadmap to improve pregnancy health literacy. Methods: Using a qualitative descriptive design, in-depth interviews were conducted with 26 participants: six pregnant women, six husbands, two public health cadres, six midwifery students, and six midwives. Data collection involved face-to-face and online interviews, which were transcribed verbatim. Data analysis employed conventional content analysis, identifying themes and subthemes through coding and consensus. Triangulation and quotations ensured validity. Results: Three main themes emerged: (1) the urgency of health literacy, highlighting its role in knowledge, decision-making, adaptation, and misinformation prevention; (2) the need for comprehensive information on maternal health, fetal development, psychological support, nutrition, danger signs, and the husband's role; and (3) a preference for interactive digital roadmaps featuring attractive visuals, diverse media (infographics, videos, animations), cultural integration, accessibility, and ease of use. Conclusion: Developing interactive digital roadmaps as structured, user-friendly educational tools can enhance pregnancy health literacy. These innovations empower women and support healthcare providers and families. Integrating such tools into maternal health programs and establishing supportive policies can strengthen antenatal education and promote informed decision-making.
