Abstract

The research was designed to determine the best planting month, the size of farm income, the value of revenue/cost ratio (R/C), the correlation between R/C and the price as well as production of cassava, and the marketing efficiency. This research was conducted in district Bumi Nabung Lampung Tengah Regency.Respondents were 60 cassava farmers in District Bumi Nabung. The R/C value was determined from the farming income method, the correlation by Pearson Correlation test method, and the marketing efficiency by SCP (market Structure, market Conduct, market Performance) method. Data were analyzed in the manner of descriptive qualitatively and quantitatively. The results indicated that the best planting months was either the farmer planted in June or July with the R/C values of 3.49 and 3.85. The correlation between R/C and the production was inversely proportional and the correlation between R/C and the price was directly proportional. There are two types of marketing channels. Channel I, the farmer would directly sell to the tapioca factory with the farmer's share value of 93.31%. Channel II, the farmer would go to the collector, then the collectors would sell to the tapioca factory with a farmer’s share value of 89.92% and the Ratio Profit Margin (RMP) value of 0.49.Key words: cassava, marketing, planting month, price, production

Abstract

This study aims to determine the procurement of production facilities subsystem, production subsystem and marketing subsystem in Weaner Gaduh system and Swadana Mandiri system of the Limousin livestock group.  The study is conducted at Astomulyo Village of Punggur Subdistrict, Central Lampung Regency by census method in Limousin Group.  The location is chosen purposively since the Limousin Group is the only cattle group that has registration number in Lampung. The research data collection is carried out in November 2017.  The results of this study showed that the subsystem of production facilities for Weaner Gaduh systems was the same and Swadana Mandiri systems were generally the same, namely capital, cages and tools used.  The difference was in the supply of cattles, in which young cattles in Weaner Gaduh system were obtained from PT GGL, whereas in Swadana Mandiri system were from other farmers. Fattening of cattles in both Weaner Gaduh system and Swadana Mandiri system were carried out for 3-4 months by intensive pattern maintenance. The difference was the type of feed used in Swadana Mandiri system included elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum).  The benefits obtained by Swadana Mandiri system on cash costs and total cost was 1.38 and 1.31, while for farmers Weaner Gaduh systems was 1.19 and 1.12 respectively.  The beef cattle marketing system in the Weaner Gaduh system was that all products must be sold to PT GGL, while the Swadana Mandiri system had the freedom of selling beef cattle.  In overall market behavior illustrated that PT GGL holded full control of fattening beef cattle in Weaner Gaduh system farmers, this indicated that the most efficient marketing channel was of Weaner Gaduh system structure. Key words: marketing subsystem, procurement of production facilities, production subsystem

Abstract

This research aimed to know the partnership pattern of contract farming between cluster farmers and PT Mitratani Agro Unggul and the partnership benefits for the farmers.  This research was conducted in South Lampung Regency in October 2012, in which 12 farmers joined this partnership program as respondents.  The data was analyzed by descriptive and farming income analysis.  The results showed that the related partners to contract farming partnership covered: capital assistance, marketing, and knowledge transfer support or trainings.  The contract farming was an official partnership containing the rules in the written contracts of agreement.  The partnership of contract farming had not economically given benefit to the cluster of pepper farmers, because of the low of farmers’ productivities. These low productivities were caused by several problems, such as climate, cultivation technic, bug’s infections, and also lending taradinnes.  The highest R/C was 1.25 and the lowest R/C was 1.01.  Farmers also got non-economically benefits; one of those was the existence of legal law microfinance institution and improvement of the derivative products of chili pepper. Abstract

The purposes of this research are to compare: the allocation of land of cassava, the spending of  rice and food consumption patterns, between cassava farmers in the village of implementers and non-implementers of the MP3L (Model Pengembangan Pangan Pokok Lokal) Programme in South Lampung regency.  The research was conducted in Pancasila village and Negara Ratu village, Natar district, South Lampung regency. The number of respondents in the research is 44 people, consisting of 22 cassava farmers in the Pancasila village and 22 of cassava farmers in Negara Ratu village. Analysis method used in this study is a quantitative descriptive.  The results showed that: the allocation of land to plant cassava in Negara Ratu village is wider than in Pancasila village. The land allocation for planting cassava likely caused by the need of farmers to consume cassava and the guarantee of the markets. The average household rice spending at Pancasila village was Rp858,303.03 per capita per year, while the average household rice spending at Negara Ratu village was Rp1,044,121.77 per capita per year. Significant of that difference value was caused by the customs of households at Pancasila village to consume cassava by processing daily, excluding Beras Siger. The desirable food pattern (PPH) score of cassava farmers at Pancasila village (87.8) was higher than PPH score of cassava farmers at Negara Ratu village (80.5).  Reduction of rice has occurred at Pancasila village, but it was not caused by substitution of rice by Beras Siger. Key words: cassava farmers, consumption patterns, land allocation, MP3L
