Abstract

This study is motivated by students' low critical thinking skills in the material of work and energy and the lack of innovation in using approaches in learning Physics. Based on the initial test, it is known that the average percentage of students' Critical Thinking Skills (CTS) in physics is 30%, with a very low category. The effort made by the researcher to overcome this problem was to apply the Somatic, Auditory, Visual, and Intellectual (SAVI) learning approach. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the SAVI learning approach on students' critical thinking skills and to determine the improvement of students' critical thinking skills after implementing the SAVI approach in class X MIPA SMA Negeri 2 Singaparna Academic Year 2022/2023. The research method used is a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study was the entire X MIPA class of SMA Negeri 2 Singaparna. The research sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis techniques used include normality test, homogeneity test, hypothesis test, and N-Gain test. Based on the results of hypothesis testing at the level of significance (α = 0.05), it found > (1.97> 1.67) so that is accepted. The experimental class N-Gain test results obtained data 0.54 in the medium category. It means that the SAVI approach affects students' CTS, and SAVI facilitates students to increase their CTS.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability is crucial for students to face 21st-century challenges, especially in physics education, where many concepts are abstract. Despite its importance, students' problem-solving skills in elasticity are often low due to teacher-centered approaches and insufficient use of problem-solving models. This study aims to evaluate the impact of the IDEAL Problem-Solving model on students' problem-solving abilities concerning elasticity material. The research method and design were quasi-experiments with a nonequivalent posttest-only control group design. Analysis revealed outstanding implementation of the IDEAL model, with normality and homogeneity tests supporting the sample's suitability. The t-test (α = 0.05) confirmed that the IDEAL model significantly enhanced problem-solving skills in elasticity. The findings suggest that adopting student-centered models like IDEAL can improve learning outcomes and problem-solving abilities and provide a basis for further research on similar models in other educational contexts.

Abstract

Classroom Action Research (CAR) enables teachers to enhance teaching quality and student achievement. In Tasikmalaya Regency, however, many teachers need help to develop CAR effectively, impacting learning outcomes. To address this, a CAR training program utilizing the POE2WE (Predict, Observe, Explain, Elaborate, Write, Evaluate) model was implemented through the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, fostering active teacher engagement. The training, targeting high school teachers in Tasikmalaya, focused on equipping participants to develop high-quality CAR. Results indicated significant improvements in teacher competence, with participants achieving high ratings in critical skills: discussion activity (3.8), prediction formulation (3.7), and self-evaluation (3.9). Over 90% of participants expressed satisfaction with training materials, instructor competency, and the applicability of theory to practice. These findings underscore the value of structured CAR skills enhancement for educational development in Tasikmalaya and beyond, recommending that future programs adopt adaptable models to meet evolving teacher needs in classroom outcomes.Top of Form

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low ability of students to think critically in physics learning and the need for more innovation in the learning process. The researchers' efforts to overcome this problem are by applying the Think, Talk, Write learning model assisted by PhET Simulation. This research method is quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study was class XI Physics students at a high school in Tasikmalaya, totaling 72 students. The data collection technique in this study describes the ability of critical thinking skills in as many as nine items. The data analysis techniques are prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity tests), hypothesis tests, N-Gain, and model implementation analysis. The results of the analysis of hypothesis test data using the t-test at the significance level (α = 0.05) showed that after applying the Think, Talk, Write learning model assisted by PhET Simulation, we obtained 4.05 > 1.67, and the calculation results using SPSS showed sig results. (2-tailed) < 0.05 i.e. 0.000 < 0.05. Thus, Ha is accepted, and H0 is rejected. It means that it can be concluded that the Think, Talk, Write learning model assisted by PhET Simulation influences the ability of students' critical thinking skills on parabolic motion material in class XI Physics students at a high school in Tasikmalaya. These findings imply that integrating interactive technology into active learning models can yield better outcomes, suggesting the need for innovative teaching strategies to enhance education quality
