Abstract

This observation is purposed to know the teacher’s strategy in implementing Unit Studies Curriculum. The type of this observation is a qualitative observation that would be held in 4 months through direct participation in the classroom from the beginning till the end of the activity. Subjects of the observation are 5 teachers which there are 4 preschool teachers and 1 kindergarten teacher in detail. The data gathering techniques is using a semi-structured interview, observation, and documentation. Used observation instrument is throught the interview questions according to the topics that are about to be observed. Used data analysis technique is a descriptive qualitative one. The results of this study indicate that the teacher's strategy in implementing the Unit Studies curriculum at Jungle School is run through interesting and creative play activities, and with games such as touch and tell games, matching games, exercise games, opposite games, paper telephone cups and several games. others that are different every day. Keywords: Learning Strategies, Unit Studies Curriculum, A Method of Play. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi guru dalam mengimplementasikan Unit Studies Curriculum. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang dilaksanakan selama 4 bulan melalui partisipasi langsung di dalam kelas dari awal kegiatan berlangsung hingga kegiatan berakhir. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 5 orang guru dengan rincian 4 orang guru preschool dan 1 orang guru kindergarten. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara semiterstruktur, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan melalui pertanyaan-pertanyaan wawancara sesuai dengan topik-topik yang ingin diteliti. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi guru dalam mengimplementasikan kurikulum Unit Studies di Jungle School dijalankan melalui kegiatan bermain yang dibuat dengan menarik dan kreatif, dan dengan games seperti touch and tell game, matching game, exercise game, opposite game, paper cup telephone dan beberapa game lainnya yang berbeda setiap harinya. Abstract

This study aims to increase children English vocabulary aged 5-6 years old by playing CABE or searching and whispering. This research is classroom action research that was conducted in Marsudirini Sang Timur Kindergarten, Salatiga. The Subjects of the study were 20 B1 kin-dergarten children. Data was collected by teaching English vocabulary by playing CABE in some cycles which includes four stages in the form of cycles, there are (1) planning; (2) im-plementation; (3) observation; and (4) reflection. Research instruments used in this research was in sheets observation checklist. The results of a percentage of pre-cycle was 13 %, cycle I was 31 % in first meeting and was 66 % in the second meeting, cycle II was 75 % per-formed in only one meeting. Abstract

Media massa telah memberitakan berbagai info mengenai kasus kekerasan pada anak-anak terkhusus pada jenjang sekolah dasar. Kekerasan yang terjadi tidak hanya terbatas pada kekerasan fisik yang menimbulkan luka yang nampak namun juga terdapat kekerasan batin yang menimbulkan ketidaknyamanan secara kejiwaan bahkan sampai terganggunya proses pembelajaran anak yang menjadi objek kekerasan. Hal-hal tersebut, dewasa ini, dikenal dengan istilah bullying. Siswa sekolah dasar merupakan siswa jenjang anak-kanak yang dinilai sudah memiliki kesiapan dalam melakukan kegiatan interaksi antar pribadi (interpersonal). Dalam proses pembelajaran pun mereka melakukan kegiatan yang mendukung pengembangan kecerdasan interpersonalnya. Siswa SD memiliki berbagai sifat yang menandai perkembangan kemampuan interpersonalnya seperti sifat patuh pada ketetapan, kecenderungan memuji diri, kecenderungan membandingkan diri dan beberapa sikap personal lainnya. Kecenderungan tersebut jika dihadapkan dengan fenomena bullying dapat menimbulkan suatu pengalaman traumatik yang dapat mengganggu proses pembelajaran dan perkembangan. Untuk mengatasi kondisi-kondisi negatif yang mungkin dapat terjadi sebagai dampak dari bullying di kalangan peserta didik sekolah dasar, perlu adanya upaya untuk melakukan pencegahan sehingga tidak terjadi hambatan dalam proses perkembangan pribadi dan pembelajaran pada jenjang pendidikannya. Disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan tersebut dinilai berhasil dengan integrasi storytelling dan pendekatan total physical response dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to prove that the transformational leadership style can be applied and to describe how it is applied in Early Childhood Education management in Sidorejo District of Salatiga. This descriptive qualitative research used the sampling using technique purposive. Techniques of collecting data using interviews, observation and documentation. Many phenomena researchers find in some kindergartens in the city of Salatiga are examples: many teachers resigned each year, they lack of motivation and awareness of their duties as teachers or perform tasks only because of rewards or punishment, and lack of trust and loyalty to the institution school. With the implementation of this transformational leadership style, it provides some positive impacts, principals being role models, encouraging subordinate performance, harmonizing the work environment, empowering employees, acting on the value system, continuously improving their capabilities, and having the ability to cope with complex situations. So with this study, the authors hope this transformational leadership style can be applied in school institutions that have not used this style of leadership, especially early childhood institutions because the results show that the transformational leadership style is very effective applied to early childhood education management.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability to recognize letters through the method of playing with the smart box media for children aged 5-6 years in Sion Blora Kindergarten. The activities to identify letters using the smart box media is able to motivate children's interest to learn. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles with three meetings in each cycle. The subjects of the study were 14 children aged 5-6 years. The data collection was done with interviews, observation, and documentation. The research instrument referred to Permendikbud (Regulation by the Minister of Education and Culture) Number 146 Year 2014. The observation was done with the assessment sheets, documentation, and interviews with the classroom teachers to determine the conditions and problems of children in the classroom, analyzed with a descriptive quantitative technique. The success indicator of this research is 90% for the average value. The results showed an increase in the average score from the pre-cycle of 14,29% to 60,71% in cycle I; up to 92.86% in cycle II. Thus, it can be said that the percentage of success reached ≥ 90%.

Abstract

Di era dimana kualitas dan profesionalitas begitu penting, tentunya para praktisi dunia pendidikan tidak mau tertinggal untuk mengupayakan berbagai macam cara mengembangkan profesionalitas dan kemampuan mereka. Berbagai peraturan dan undang- undang Republik Indonesia pun telah menegaskan mengenai profesionalitas tenaga pendidikan namun dalam kenyataannya masih banyak pengajar pada jenjang sekolah dasar, menengah hingga tinggi yang belum memiliki kualifikasi umum untuk disebut sebagai pengajar profesional. Oleh karena itu, sangat dibutuhkan suatu upaya mengembangkan profesionalitas tenaga pendidik sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan perkembangan jaman. Journal ini mengkaji pengembangan profesionalitas guru melalui supervisi senior ke junior yang ditujukan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisa apa, mengapa dan bagaimana supervisi digunakan pada objek penelitian yang kemudian dibahas dan disajikan sehingga dapat menjadi inspirasi bagi lembaga pendidikan dalam mengembangkan program serupa. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus yang didukung dengan wawancara tidak terstruktur (unstructured interview) dan studi dokumentasi sebagai teknik pengumpulan datanya. Data yang terkumpul dijadikan sebagai pelengkap uraian mengenai metode supervisi dan keuntungan-keuntungan diterapkannya metode supervisi tesebut bagi para pengajar baru terkhusus pada jenjang pendidikan tinggi. Terdapat tiga responden yang memberikan informasi. Mereka adalah pengajar baru di Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP), Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW), Salatiga. Hasil yang didapat dari bahasan dalam journal ini yakni bahwa supervisi yang dilakukan FKIP, UKSW, Salatiga lebih ke arah supervisi satu-satu (one-to-one supervision) dengan menekankan pada pembagian pengalaman dosen senior, memberikan saran-saran perbaikan dan memonitor secara berkala. Kiranya hasil penelitian ini, terlepas dari kelemahan yang dapat muncul, bisa dipergunakan sebagai gambaran dan inspirasi bagi lembaga pendidikan yang hendak menerapkan supervisi sebagai pengembangan profesionalitas tenaga pendidik.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the English vocabulary of 4 to 6-year-old children at TK Pertiwi 29 Semarang. This research includes classroom action research using snake and ladder media. The research subjects in this study were 20 students from kindergarten group B. Data collection techniques were observation, interview and discussion to classroom teachers and principals, as well as documentation. The research instrument used in this research was observation sheet in the form of checklist. The analysis is using observation data done gradually, then processed into tabulation of observation score and calculated its percentage according to children’s name. The result of this study showed the improvement of percentage from pre-cycle that is 52%, cycle I, which is 59% and 77% in cycle II. Snake and ladder media used in English language learning gradually increase children’s vocabulary.

Abstract

Translation is important in preparing children's literature, especially in children's education. When a prospective teacher does not correctly translate teaching materials, children will be impacted by such inaccuracies such as learning confusion, improperly instilled socio-cultural values and even inadequate intellectual development. The disturbances mentioned are under these two condition such as: interlingual interference (also known as transfer between languages) and intralingual interference (also known as transfer in one language) which is reflected from the translation of English-language teaching materials. This research was a descriptive research aiming to find out, describe and explain the interlingual and intralingual interference found in children’s literature translation project. Participants of this research were students who joined in English Language Learning class of Early Childhood Teacher Education study program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga. By using translation task/project and semi-structured interview, the research data was collected. The result showed that students still encounter interlingual and intralingual interference especially in some categories. This finding triggered English language practitioners to cope with translation disorder in order to produce the best translated material for children’s education.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the fine motor skills of 4-5-year-old children through origami games in Kampung Gang Buaya Salatiga. Attractive origami paper folding activities can motivate children to improve their fine motor skills. This type of research is Participatory Action Research (PAR) conducted through 2 cycles. The research subjects were SI 5 girls and 4 boys. Data collection techniques use interviews and documentation. The research object is children's fine motor skills through origami paper games. Data Analysis Techniques using Quantitative Descriptive. Branch stitching can be seen from the average fine motor skills of children with origami paper applications with the criteria of Developing According to Hope that is 76%. The results of this study indicate an increase in children's fine motor skills through playing origami paper in the village of Gang Buaya Salatiga, which is seen from the children's fine motor skills in the pre-action stage, which is an average of 33.3% to 65.38% in cycle I actions, then increased to 79.62% in the transition period II.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media speaking pyramid sebagai media pembelajaran kosa kata bahasa Inggris pada anak usia dini 5-6 tahun di TK Kanisius Jimbaran. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis Research and Development. Produk yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini adalah media speaking pyramid yang berisi materi media pembelajaran kosa kata bahasa Inggris bagi anak. Subjek penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa TK Kanisius Jimbaran. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara tidak terstruktur dan angket. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, pada uji validitas media speaking pyramid sebagai media pembelajaran kosa kata bahasa Inggris pada anak usia 5-6 tahun termasuk dalam kategori sesuai dengan sedikit perbaikan yang dilakukan dalam tahap revisi dan uji validitas media untuk materi termasuk dalam kategori sangat sesuai dengan sedikit perbaikan yang dilakukan dalam tahap revisi. Dengan demikian, media speaking pyramid sebagai media pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Inggris dapat digunakan untuk tahap selanjudnya yaitu tahap uji coba produk.
