Abstract

English is a language that has been widely studied at the educational level. The introduction of English at kindergarten level is also growing these days. In practice, the use of English in kindergarten needs to be optimized, especially with good governance of English learning. This study aims to capture best practice ideas from an accredited private kindergarten school in the city of Salatiga. Respondents of this study were the principal, teacher representatives and parents in the research object. Data collection techniques in this study used semi-structured interviews. Acquisition data were analyzed qualitatively by reducing and categorizing according to management aspects. Research results showed that at the planning stage, the school properly manages the vision and mission, curriculum, and school policies that support learning with English as the language of instruction. At the organizing stage, the school regulates the recruitment of human resources for educators and external parties who collaborate in learning at the school so that language communication qualifications are maintained. For the implementation stage, various interesting learning methods were developed and added to the exposure of English content so that children were used to it and continued to develop their language skills. Then, at the supervision stage, schools assess the learning process and teacher qualifications including providing assistance to maintain the quality they already have.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris adalah bahasa yang universal karena digunakan oleh sebagian besar negara di dunia sebagai bahasa utama. Selain itu, bahasa Inggris merupakan salah satu bahasa internasional yang penting untuk dikuasai atau dipelajari (Maduwu, 2016). Pengumpulan data merupakan Langkah awal dan sangat berperan penting dalam penelitian. Dengan mengumpulkan data peneliti menjadi tahu kebutuhan atau apa yang menjadi issue didalam masyarakat. Dalam penelitian ini Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Validator ahli media dan bahasa adalah Eunice Widyanti S., S.Pd., M.Pd. Instrumen penilaian yang diserahkan berjumlah 10 butir dengan skor ideal adalah 50. Hasil perolehan skor yang diberikan validator ahli berjumlah 43. Hasil skor kemudian dihitung menggunakan rating scale dengan rumus yang sudah tersedia diatas. Hasil presentasenya adalah 86% dengan kriteria kategori sangat baik. Berdasarkan pembahasan dan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa Pop Up Qr Book “Trip to GrandParents’ House” sangat baik digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran kosa kata Bahasa Inggris anak usia 3-4 Tahun.

Abstract

Bahasa adalah salah satu aspek yang sangat penting dalam pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak. Seorang anak dengan perkembangan bahasa yang baik akan sangat mendukung bagi kehidupannya di masa mendatang kelak. Anak dengan kemampuan berbahasa baik akan sangat mudah mengucapkan banyak kata-kata dan dengan cepat menerima bahasa-bahasa baru, termasuk bahasa asing atau Bahasa Inggris. Namun jaman sekarang masih banyak pihak-pihak yang belum melihat bahwa memiliki kemampuan berbahasa Inggris adalah satu hal yang sangat baik bagi pertumbuhan dan perkembangan anak, begitu pula halnya juga dengan beberapa sekolah-sekolah yang masih belum menerapkan pembelajaran dengan sistem Bahasa Inggris. Hal inilah yang menjadi latar belakang peneliti untuk dapat membantu sekolah dan guru-guru untuk mulai dapat mengenalkan Bahasa Inggris untuk anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan produk model pembelajaran berupa buku panduan guru untuk mengenalkan kosakata Bahasa Inggris berbasis metode total physical response dengan metode Research and Development (R&D) atau penelitian dan pengembangan. Model pembelajaran yang akan dikembangkan menggunakan model ADDIE (Analysis, Desain, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Kegiatan pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dan wawancara tidak terstruktur.

Abstract

Proyek pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mempromosikan kesehatan gigi pada anak-anak usia dini melalui pendidikan berbasis teater. Penyakit gigi pada anak usia dini sering diabaikan meskipun memiliki dampak jangka panjang yang signifikan. Menggunakan metode bermain peran yang menarik dan edukatif, proyek ini berusaha meningkatkan kesadaran orang tua dan sekolah tentang kebersihan gigi dan pencegahan penyakit pada anak usia dini. Sifat interaktif dan menghibur dari teater membantu menarik perhatian, menyampaikan pesan-pesan kesehatan yang penting secara efektif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa orang tua dan anak-anak yang berpartisipasi menunjukkan peningkatan kesadaran dan pemahaman tentang kesehatan gigi serta lebih cenderung mengadopsi praktik kebersihan gigi yang baik.

Abstract

Pengembangan kurikulum yang efektif melibatkan proses analisis, desain, implementasi, dan evaluasi yang sistematis. Untuk memenuhi pencapaian tujuan dan keberlanjutan pendidikan di satuan pendidikan, maka, kurikulum akan ditinjau dan diubah. TK Setyo Asih, TK Bethesda dan SD Negeri Sumogawe 01 mengungkapkan berbagai permasalahan dalam proses implementasi kurikulum baru. Dasar pemikiran tersebutlah yang menjadi latar belakang pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada Masyarakat yang diinisiasi oleh tim dari Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan dan Fakultas Teologi Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan pola adaptasi kurikulum baru. Hasilnya sangatlah memuaskan, guru-guru terbantu dalam pemahaman: a) Paradigma Baru Pendidikan; b) Pembuatan Tujuan dan Asesmen Pembelajaran; c)Pembelajaran Berdiferensiasi; d) Penyusunan Modul Ajar; e) Profil Pelajar Pancasila; f) Perancangan dan Asesmen Project Pembelajaran; g) Integrasi Profil Pelajar Pancasila dengan Rancangan Projek Pembelajaran. Selain itu, bimbingan teknis ini menghasilkan kelengkapan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis Kurikulum Merdeka di SD Negeri Sumogawe 01.

Abstract

Learning English among early childhood is increasingly being presented in many schools. To meet the needs of the times, mastery of English particularly vocabulary has become a new concern to be accommodated in education especially for children in concern to the characteristics of early childhood learning. Preliminary research on two kindergarten-level classes (age of 5 to 6) in a private school showed that there were several problems teachers faced when applying the conventional storytelling method. The alternative solution to this problem is implementing digital storytelling method which is integrating storytelling and digital technology. This research is based on data obtained qualitatively so that it gives the characteristics of descriptive qualitative research that wants to explain the phenomenon of the object of research according to the topic. The data in this study were obtained from the results of field observations in the classroom when the learning process took place. The result showed that digital storytelling method is considered to be able to attract children's attention in following the stories and learning materials brought by the teacher. Student motivation also appears to emerge with the application of the digital storytelling method in learning English. There are also some teachers’ guide to apply this method in English language learning for kids.

Abstract

Purpose – English is an investment in the future that can increase self-potential; therefore, early childhood needs to know English. The introduction of English in early childhood can use learning media. This study aims to develop iVocard media as a medium for learning English vocabulary in early childhood 4-5 years.Design/methods/approach – This study uses Research and Development, with the subjects of this research being TK A students at BPK PENABUR Cimahi. Data was collected using observation, documentation, and questionnaire methods using a Likert scale of 1-5, then analyzed using descriptive analysis.Findings – The results showed that the iVocard media was in the “very appropriate” category in the material and media validation test. In both validation tests, there are a few suggestions for improvements to the iVocard learning media. Thus, the iVocard learning media can be used in the next stage, the trial stage.Research implications/limitations – The feasibility of iVocard learning media as a means to learn and improve English vocabulary for children aged 4-5 years.Practical implications – This research implies that English vocabulary learning media in early childhood can use card media, such as iVocard, to make learning more exciting and fun for children.Originality/value – This study uses learning media from iVocard, which can be used for learning in early childhood, especially for children aged 4-5 years.Paper type: Research paper

Abstract

Pelatihan dasar karate untuk anak usia 5-6 tahun di TK Kristen 1 Satya Wacana Salatiga mendukung pertumbuhan fisik, mental, dan sosia. Pengabdian masyarakat ini menggunakan metode Participatory Action Research (PAR), dengan hasil respon baik para peserta yang mendapatkan manfaat latohan serta dapat mempraktikkan hasil latihan dalam kegiatan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Social contribution community service activities are the culmination of a series of Nusantara Module, developed by the community service team, consisting of lecturers of S1 PG PAUD Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW) in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. One of the MBKM programs organized by S1 PG PAUD UKSW in the even semester of 2023/2024 is Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka (PMM). PMM is a student exchange program attended by 10 exchange students from Widya Mandala Catholic University Surabaya who attended lectures at UKSW. The Nusantara Module develops activities to strengthen diversity which are arranged in a series of diversity activities, inspiration activities, reflection activities to social contributions to the community entitled the Nusantara Module Talk Show Series and Social Contributions to the Community. Talk Show Nusantara Module has 3 series, namely: Series 1: “Culture as Identity”; Series 2: “Integrity and Persistence of the Educator” and Series 3: “Challenges and Opportunities of Religious Diversity”. The series ended with social contribution activities to the community, namely Training on Developmental Detection and Socialization of Home Inventory to Parents. Social contribution activities are carried out to 6 (six) families from various religious, ethnic, racial and tribal backgrounds that embody the objectives of the archipelago module. The entire series of activities had a good impact on each participant involved, both exchange students and the community with the level of usefulness shown by the Likert Scale with the results of Good at a percentage of 22.4% and Very Good at a percentage of 77.6%.

Abstract

Early childhood language development is critical, forming the basis for cognitive, social, and emotional growth. Children's brains are particularly receptive to linguistic input during these formative years, which makes them an optimal period for developing language skills, particularly in English. The trend of integrating English language learning in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) has increased rapidly in Indonesia. The main objective of the iSALTY research is to develop and evaluate an innovative learning framework that harmoniously integrates three English language learning methods to increase the effectiveness of the learning process. Using a literature study approach, this research provides a comprehensive review of existing research to advance knowledge in early childhood English teaching. This research used purposive sampling to select 45 references consisting of 12 titles about Audio Lingual Method (ALM), 16 titles about Total Physical Response (TPR), and 17 titles about Storytelling. A structured six-step procedure was followed to ensure a thorough and systematic literature review. This stae of the arts research reveals that integrating ALM, TPR, and Storytelling has the opportunity to form a dynamic and interesting way of teaching and learning. This holistic approach utilizes repetition, contextualization, and physical reinforcement, which effectively enhances children's linguistic abilities in strengthening English language skills. The implications of iSALTY research have the potential to have a significant impact in the context of English language learning at various levels of education.
