Abstract

This study is entitled "Representation of Romanticism in the Film Merindu Cahaya De Amstel". The formulation of the research problem is how the representation of the aspect of romance is depicted in the film Merindu Cahaya De Amstel. The purpose of this study is to describe the representation of the aspect of romance in the film Merindu Cahaya De Amstel. The research approach used is a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques use listening techniques and note-taking techniques. The data source for this study is the film Merindu Cahaya De Amstel. The data in this study are in the form of dialogues and scenes that contain representations of aspects of romance in the film Merindu Cahaya De Amstel. The results of the study found that the representation of the romantic aspect of love is more dominant as a form of representation of romance in this film. The researcher found 14 data on representation of romance based on the aspect of love and 13 data on representation of romance based on the aspect of expression.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi nilai-nilai budaya yang tertanam dalam novel *Melangkah* karya Jombang Santani Khairen, dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dan teori nilai budaya dari Djamaris. Novel ini menggambarkan berbagai aspek kehidupan masyarakat Sumba, yang meliputi hubungan antara manusia dengan Tuhan, alam, masyarakat, orang lain, dan diri sendiri. Analisis ini menekankan pada nilai-nilai budaya seperti spiritualitas, pemanfaatan sumber daya alam secara berkelanjutan, solidaritas sosial, kesetiaan dalam hubungan interpersonal, dan tanggung jawab individu. Melalui metode dokumentasi dan analisis isi, penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa *Melangkah* tidak hanya menyajikan narasi fiksi yang menarik, tetapi juga menggarisbawahi nilai-nilai budaya yang tidak terpisahkan dari kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat Sumba. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa novel ini secara efektif menyampaikan perspektif budaya yang kaya, menyoroti kearifan lokal dan prinsip-prinsip moral yang menawarkan wawasan kepada pembaca tentang pentingnya membina hubungan yang harmonis dengan Tuhan, alam, dan sesama manusia.

Abstract

Pelatihan penulisan cerpen bagi mahasiswa Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) Universitas Malikussaleh dilaksanakan untuk mengatasi kesulitan yang dihadapi mahasiswa dalam memulai dan menyusun cerpen. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang teknik penulisan cerpen, mulai dari pengembangan ide, struktur cerita, hingga penyuntingan. Melalui metode ceramah, diskusi, dan latihan intensif, peserta pelatihan diajak untuk berlatih menulis cerpen secara sistematis. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa semakin memahami tata cara penulisan cerpen yang menarik, serta mampu mengembangkan alur dan karakter dengan lebih terstruktur. Selain itu, pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan kepercayaan diri mahasiswa dalam menulis. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi pada peningkatan keterampilan menulis mahasiswa FKIP Universitas Malikussaleh.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the symbolic meanings embedded in the ratib berjalan ritual within the tolak bala tradition in Gedung Biara Village, Seruway Sub-district, Aceh Tamiang Regency, as well as the local wisdom values underlying it. The ratib berjalan tradition is one of the tolak bala rituals that is still preserved by the community of Gedung Biara Village. This ritual is held annually in the month of Safar, with the purpose of driving away evil spirits and seeking protection from misfortunes. The semiotic approach of Charles Sanders Peirce is used to interpret symbols such as white robes, whips (regis), torches, flags inscribed with Lailahaillallah, and various taboos observed during the ritual. This research uses a qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the eight symbols in the ratib berjalan ritual possess profound philosophical and spiritual meanings such as purity, protection, and togetherness.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of figurative language in the novel Lonte Pageue by Adam Zainal. The method employed is descriptive qualitative, which is commonly used to analyze literary texts. The data collection technique applied in this research is the reading and note-taking technique, where the researcher reads through the novel and notes down relevant instances of figurative language. The data used in this study consist of sentences or phrases containing figurative language found in Lonte Pageue. The source of the data for this research is the novel Lonte Pageue by Adam Zainal, which serves as the primary material for analysis. The data analysis techniques applied include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings and discussion regarding figurative language in Lonte Pageue revealed a total of 85 instances of figurative language. These instances consist of 31 rhetorical figurative language expressions and 54 tropes. The rhetorical figurative language includes alliteration, euphemism, litotes, hyperbole, and paradox, while the tropes include simile, metaphor, personification, synecdoche, metonymy, antonomasia, irony, and antiphrasis. The results of the analysis indicate that rhetorical figurative language is the most frequently found, with 31 instances, while tropes are the least frequently identified, with only 54 instances. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of how figurative language is employed in Lonte Pageue, which contributes to the development of literature analysis.

Abstract

The problem faced by partners is the lack of ideas in business development, moreover, many medium-scale industrial-scale food factories have sprung up while home-scale food production houses have been displaced because they are not able to compete with the quality of products produced by medium-scale industrial factories. The Housewife Empowerment Strategy is intended to foster ideas in business development so as to increase the economy of home-scale food production houses and will be able to become highly competitive businesses. This activity is here to inspire and raise awareness of potential, as well as to develop knowledge, insight, and ideas in the development of the types of food produced. The method used in this activity is a guided training method, namely the method of discussion and training. This service activity focuses on training to make “Bread Sobek” which is one of the promising business ideas. In carrying out this activity requires several stages, namely explaining the ingredients needed in making bread and the function of each of these ingredients through small discussions as well as bread making training so that participants are not only able to make bread but also know the function of the ingredients for making bread. the.The results of the training activities show that new ideas for food variations that can be produced by highly competitive home-scale production houses have emerged, housewives have also been able to apply these new ideas as variations of the torn bread itself. with various variants that can make an independent business highly competitive.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role and effectiveness of corrective feedback in improving students' speaking performance in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. Corrective feedback is considered one of the essential strategies in the language learning process, especially in addressing students' language errors both directly and indirectly. Various types of corrective feedback, such as recasts, prompts, and explicit correction, are known to facilitate effective learner uptake and positively impact students' speaking accuracy and fluency. Based on a comprehensive review of academic literature, this study reveals that timely and context-appropriate corrective feedback significantly contributes to the development of students' speaking skills. Additionally, both teachers' and students' perceptions of the importance of corrective feedback play a crucial role in determining its effectiveness. Teachers who can select the appropriate feedback techniques based on students' characteristics and learning situations help learners build confidence and self-correct their language errors more effectively. This study suggests that English teachers should actively and consistently provide corrective feedback during speaking activities. The selection of feedback types and timing should be adjusted to maximize their impact on students' speaking development. Thus, corrective feedback serves not only as a correction tool but also as a pedagogical strategy that encourages students to engage more actively in the language learning process.

Abstract

This program aimed to give an opportunity for children to acquire new English words by tying environmental education with flashcard learning media. This community service program was held in SD Negeri Nomor 6 which located in Jambo Timur Kecamatan Blang Mangat Kota Lhokseumawe. The proper disposal of waste by its category might count as one method of environmental education. During this community service project, students were instructed on how to dispose waste based on three classifications recycled, reusable, and organic waste. Students were provided with English expressions related to this topic. The community service program was carried out through two primary activities, i.e,. Focus Group Discussions with the principal and the teachers and environmental education through English vocabulary introduction. This education program took place in two stages: (1) waste management by categorizing trash according to the classifications; (2) vocabulary mastery related the various forms of waste.ABSTRAKTujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah agar anak-anak bisa belajar kosakata bahasa Inggris baru dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran flash card serta mengaitkannya dengan edukasi lingkungan Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di SD Negeri Nomor 6 yang terletak Jambo Timur Kecamatan Blang Mangat Kota Lhokseumawe. Metode kegiatan diawali dengan tahap identifikasi, tahap pemilihan mitra, tahap pelaksanaan pengabdian dan tahap evaluasi. Dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini, para siswa diajarkan untuk membuang sampah sesuai dengan klasifikasi yaitu menjadi tiga jenis yaitu sampah daur ulang (recycle), pakai ulang (reusable) dan organik (organic) sembari diberikan kosa kata bahasa Inggris yang berkaitan. Pelaksanaan pengabdian dilakukan melalui dua kegiatan utama yaitu FGD bersama para guru dan kepala sekolah dan pelatihan edukasi lingkungan melalui pengenalan kosa kata bahasa Inggris. Pelaksanaan edukasi ini terdiri dari dua tahapan yaitu: (1) edukasi lingkungan melalui klasifikasi sampah sesuai jenisnya yaitu organic, reusable, and recycle (2) pengayaan kosakata yang berkaitan dengan jenis-jenis sampah.
