Abstract

In carrying out learning, students not only need to know the content of the learning, but also need the ability to think creatively from existing learning outcomes. This research then aims to see how the integrated learning model can improve students' ability to think creatively and improve the results of student learning at school. This type of research is a qualitative research using descriptive analysis. The data used in this research comes from various research results and previous studies that still have relevance to the content of this research. The results of this study then found that the right learning media in carrying out integrated learning can improve students' ability to think creatively. In addition, the integrated learning method also causes students to understand a material as a whole, and not separately, so that in the end this can improve student learning outcomes at school.

Abstract

This study aims to carry out research and elaboration regarding how to manage information media in learning to strengthen the religious behavior of students in elementary schools. This study uses the method of literature review or content analysis. The results of this study show that it is important for school heads and teachers to make careful planning in every decision related to school programs. Then it is important for the principal to shape the image of the school by improvising the vision and mission made by the principal which puts forward various religious character values ​​in school activities. It is better if all teachers are given responsibility by the school principal in developing students' abilities and religious character so that whatever subject is always associated with various religious values ​​that make students more obedient and well-behaved. It is better if the principal and teacher carry out an evaluation and make a small note that assesses the daily life of students at school as evaluation material and also as a reference for carrying out more mature planning in developing students' religious character.

Abstract

English-language higher education instruction in non-English-speaking nations is now a reality in a number of locales. Teachers that are leading the way in teaching English need to have the best teaching methods, particularly when it comes to teaching vocabulary. To meet learning objectives, techniques and their justifications must be obvious. To address these issues, the researchers employed a qualitative technique and a descriptive research design. English instructors were the study's subject. based on examination of the documentation, interview, and observation. According to the study's findings, (1) both of the English teachers at MTsS Siulak Gedang employed dictionaries and translation techniques to teach their pupils vocabulary. (2) The explanations provided by teachers for their usage of the translation approach include the methods suit their teaching materials and it is easy to conduct.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The study is aimed at finding out the equivalence of the realization of M.A.K Halliday’s transitivity in The Twits’ English and Indonesian versions, particularly to discover the similarities and the differences by the use of transitivity in both versions. Transitivity is a system which construes the world of experience into a manageable set of process types. There are six types of process in transitivity which are Material, Mental, Relational, Verbal, Behavioural, and Existential processes. Each process type has specific kinds of participant role that are systematically associated with each other. The finding shows that there are different total number of clauses between the English version (578 clauses) and the Indonesian version (561 clauses). The difference in The Twits’ English and Indonesian versions is caused by the transitivity shift which occurred in the translated version. The similarities of Transitivity in The Twits’ are Material process as the dominant process which has 270 clauses with the percentage of 46,71% in English version and 264 clauses with the percentage of 47,05% in the translated version. Furthermore, the same positions in both versions are placed by Verbal process in the third position, Existential process in the fifth position, Possessive Attributive process as the sixth position, Relational Identifying process in the seventh position, and Behavioural process in the last position. The transitivity shift in The Twits is occurred in the Indonesian version due to the fact that each language has different grammatical structures. Keywords: Transitivity, Process Types, Translation, Narrative, The Twits ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan transitivitas The Twits dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Indonesia, khususnya untuk mencari persamaan dan perbedaan dalam penggunaan transitivitas dalm kedua versinya. Transitivitas adalah sistem berhubungan dengan pemilihan tipe proses dan peran partisipan, yang direalisasikan ke dalam realita pengalaman. Terdapat enam tipe proses dalam transitivitas yaitu proses Material, Mental, Relational, Verbal, Behavioural, dan Existential. Tiap proses memiliki peran partisipan yang berbeda yang saling berhubungan. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan jumlah klausa antara versi Bahasa Inggris (578 klausa) dan versi Bahasa Indonesia (561 klausa). Perbedaan antara kedua versi dalam Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Indonesia disebabkan oleh pergeseran transitivitas yang terjadi di dalam versi Bahasa Indonesia. Persamaan tipe proses transitivitas antara kedua versi adalah proses Material yang merupakan tipe proses yang paling dominan. Terdapat 270 klausa yang menunjukkan tipe proses Material dengan 46,71% dalam versi Bahasa Inggris dan 264 klausa dengan 47,05% dalam versi Bahasa Indonesia. Selanjutnya, di posisi kedua terdapat proses Mental, posisi ketiga dengan proses Verbal, keempat dengan proses Existential, kelima dengan proses Possessive Attributive, keenam dengan proses Relational Identifying, dan posisi terakhir dengan proses Behavioural. Pergeseran transitivitas dalam buku The Twits terjadi pada versi Bahasa Indonesia dikarenakan kedua bahasa memiliki perbedaan struktur gramatikal.

Abstract

Tujuan dari riset ini ialah untuk mengidentifikasi dampak dari model pembelajaran serta gaya kognitif terhadap kemampuan membaca teks berbahasa Inggris. Kajian ini memakai pendekatan model eksperimen. Temuan penelitian memperlihatkan jika kemampuan pemahaman teks dalam bahasa Inggris pada kelompok mahasiswa yang mengikuti model pembelajaran inkuiri lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan kelompok yang mengikuti model ekspositori. Selain itu, terdapat interaksi antara model pembelajaran serta gaya kognitif mahasiswa yang memengaruhi kemampuan pemahaman teks bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan materi pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang responsif terhadap situasi darurat kesehatan. Melalui metode studi literatur, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi tantangan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris selama pandemi atau situasi darurat kesehatan, menganalisis materi pembelajaran yang ada, dan mengembangkan materi yang inovatif. Uji coba dilakukan pada peserta didik untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas materi. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan wawasan mendalam tentang dinamika pendidikan Bahasa Inggris dalam kondisi darurat kesehatan dan merumuskan rekomendasi untuk pengembangan materi pembelajaran yang adaptif.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi digital di kalangan pelajar dengan fokus pada pengenalan dan praktek penggunaan teknologi pendidikan dalam komunikasi. Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang pesat menuntut adanya pemahaman mendalam terhadap literasi digital, terutama di kalangan pelajar. Penelitian ini memilih topik ini karena literasi digital merupakan keterampilan krusial di era digital dan penggunaan teknologi pendidikan memiliki potensi besar untuk memperkaya proses komunikasi dalam pendidikan. Metode penelitian melibatkan kegiatan online melalui aplikasi Zoom pada tanggal 25 September 2023, dengan 33 peserta dari berbagai kalangan seperti mahasiswa, guru, dan dosen. Kegiatan mencakup sesi pengantar literasi digital, pengenalan teknologi pendidikan, serta sesi praktek langsung menggunakan berbagai aplikasi dan platform pendidikan online. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman literasi digital dan penerapan teknologi pendidikan di kalangan peserta. Para peserta merespons positif terhadap kegiatan ini, merasa lebih siap mengintegrasikan literasi digital dalam pembelajaran mereka. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam mengatasi kesenjangan literasi digital di kalangan pelajar.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role and effectiveness of corrective feedback in improving students' speaking performance in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. Corrective feedback is considered one of the essential strategies in the language learning process, especially in addressing students' language errors both directly and indirectly. Various types of corrective feedback, such as recasts, prompts, and explicit correction, are known to facilitate effective learner uptake and positively impact students' speaking accuracy and fluency. Based on a comprehensive review of academic literature, this study reveals that timely and context-appropriate corrective feedback significantly contributes to the development of students' speaking skills. Additionally, both teachers' and students' perceptions of the importance of corrective feedback play a crucial role in determining its effectiveness. Teachers who can select the appropriate feedback techniques based on students' characteristics and learning situations help learners build confidence and self-correct their language errors more effectively. This study suggests that English teachers should actively and consistently provide corrective feedback during speaking activities. The selection of feedback types and timing should be adjusted to maximize their impact on students' speaking development. Thus, corrective feedback serves not only as a correction tool but also as a pedagogical strategy that encourages students to engage more actively in the language learning process.
