Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between student attendance and mathematics learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 4 Sungai Penuh using a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consists of 30 tenth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Attendance data and final exam scores were collected through documentation and analyzed using Pearson correlation in SPSS. The results indicate a significant positive relationship between attendance and learning outcomes, with a Pearson correlation of 0.885 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 78.3%. Besides attendance, factors such as motivation, teaching quality, and family and environmental support also influence learning outcomes. Therefore, improving student attendance through engaging teaching strategies and collaborative support is essential for optimizing mathematics achievement.

Abstract

Motivasi belajar adalah hal penting dalam meningkatkan semangat belajar seseorang di kelas agar ilmu yang dipelajari bisa didapat dengan baik, di kalangan mahasiswa gaya hidup mereka terkadang menjamin terpenuhi dalam perkuliahan baik dari segi ekonomi, fashion yang dipakai sehari hari maupun aktivitas mereka selama perkuliahan,penulis tertarik melakukan penelitian ini karena masih belum terpecahkan apakah mereka yang serba ada didalam perkuliahan meningkat semangat pembelajaran di kelas atau malah sebaliknya. penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh gaya hidup dalam menunjang motivasi mahasiswa pai iain kerinci. penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pengumpulan data menyebarkan kuesioner dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 32 responden dan data diolah menggunakan program spss.penelitian ini menemukan hasil bahwa terdapat pengaruh gaya hidup secara signifikan dalam menunjang motivasi mahasiswa sebesar 32,5% dengan bukti analisis data yakni uji validitas, reabilitas, normalitas, homogenitas dan uji regresi linier sederhana. dengan demikian hanya beberapa kalangan mahasiswa yang meningkat motivasi belajar mereka dengan mementingkan fashion and style saat kuliah dan di kalangan lain tidak mementingkan hal tersebut karena tidak berdampak apa-apa terhadap mereka.peneliti melihat seseorang dari aktivitas, minat dan opini .untuk peneliti selanjutnya agar bisa lebih detail dalam melakukan penelitian seperti dikalangan kampus kampus yang terdapat di indonesia apakah mereka juga mementingkan gaya hidup dalam perkuliahan atau tidak.

Abstract

Purposes: This research investigates the extent to which personality traits, as defined by the MBTI framework, influence students' ability to reason statistically in the context of a mathematical statistics course. The study particularly focuses on examining how distinct cognitive tendencies, categorized within the MBTI’s four dimensions, affect students’ capabilities in understanding, organizing, presenting, and interpreting statistical information. Method: A qualitative case study approach was adopted involving eleven students enrolled in a mathematics education program at a higher education institution in Indonesia. Participants completed the MBTI questionnaire to determine their personality classifications. In addition, a statistical reasoning assessment was administered to evaluate their cognitive strategies across established reasoning indicators. Observational data and written explanations were also gathered to enrich the analysis. The findings were interpreted through descriptive qualitative techniques, with triangulation applied to ensure accuracy and credibility. Findings: The analysis revealed that students identified with the STJ and ESTJ personality types exhibited more proficient reasoning patterns, particularly in applying logical steps and organizing data systematically. On the other hand, participants with NTJ or ISFJ traits showed challenges in representing data visually and articulating their thought processes clearly. Interestingly, the Introvert and Extrovert distinction did not appear to influence performance in a meaningful way. Significance: This study offers insights into the role of personality in learning statistics. It emphasizes the need for differentiated instructional methods. Adapting teaching strategies to accommodate varied personality profiles may enhance student engagement and conceptual mastery in statistical learning environments.

Abstract

Kesalahan mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal statistika matematika menjadi salah satu indikator rendahnya pemahaman konsep statistik di perguruan tinggi. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada analisis pola kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa saat mengerjakan soal statistika matematika, dengan mempertimbangkan tipe kepribadian sensing dan intuiting. Dalam studi kasus ini, sebanyak 36 siswa dengan tipe kepribadian sensing dan intuiting turut serta sebagai partisipan. Instrumen penelitian mencakup tes kepribadian MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator), tes kemampuan statistika, pedoman wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan lembar observasi. Data dianalisis melalui kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan Kesimpulan secara interaktif. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa mahasiswa dengan tipe kepribadian sensing lebih sering melakukan kesalahan pada tahap transformasi dan encoding, sedangkan tipe intuiting lebih sering salah dalam keterampilan proses dan encoding. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa tipe sensing kesulitan mengubah informasi verbal menjadi model matematika, sementara intuiting kurang sistematis dalam penyelesaian dan penyajian jawaban. Dengan demikian, pola kesalahan mahasiswa dalam mengerjakan soal statistika matematika dipengaruhi oleh tipe kepribadian mereka. Student errors in solving mathematical statistics problems are one indicator of the low level of conceptual understanding of statistics in higher education. This study focuses on analysing the patterns of errors made by students when working on mathematical statistics problems, taking into account their sensing and intuitive personality types. In this case study, as many as 36 students with sensing and intuiting personality types participated as participants. The research instruments included the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) personality test, a statistics ability test, semi-structured interview guidelines, and observation sheets. The data were analysed through data condensation, data display, and interactive conclusion drawing. The findings of the study revealed that students with sensing personality types are more likely to make mistakes at the transformation and encoding stages, while intuiting types more frequently made errors in process skills and encoding. These findings suggest that sensing types struggle to convert verbal information into mathematical models, while intuiting types are less systematic in their problem-solving procedures and in presenting final answers. Thus, the pattern of students' mistakes in doing mathematical statistics problems is influenced by their personality type.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ mathematical connections ability in solving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) problems based on Jambi culture, viewed from judging and perceiving personality types as categorized by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). A total of 21 twelfth-grade students from SMA Negeri 3 Sungai Penuh participated in the MBTI test for personality identification. Based on the highest scores in each category, four students (two with judging and two with perceiving personalities) were purposefully selected for detailed analysis. A qualitative case study approach was employed, utilizing HOTS problems with local cultural stimuli, specifically the Kajang Leko traditional house and Padamaran cake, along with structured interview guidelines. Data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results revealed that students with judging personality types had higher scores (average 75%, high category) in mathematical connections ability compared to those with perceiving types (62.5%, moderate category). This difference can be attributed to the characteristics of judging individuals, who tend to be more systematic, structured, and consistent in constructing problem-solving steps, allowing them to connect mathematical concepts more logically. In contrast, perceiving students as flexible and spontaneous tended to be less organized, resulting in difficulties establishing comprehensive conceptual relationships. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of local Jambi culture as contextual stimuli in assessing mathematical connection ability based on personality types. The findings potentially diverge from previous studies, which suggested that perceiving types were more adept at making conceptual connections. This research indicates that local cultural contexts may influence students’ cognitive performance according to personality, highlighting the importance of incorporating cultural factors and individual characteristics into the design of mathematics instruction. Keywords: judging personality, perceiving personality, mathematical connections ability, HOTS questions, jambi culture.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability is one of the essential skills in mathematics education at the university level. However, there has been limited research specifically examining the influence of personality types on this ability, especially in the context of Systems of Linear Equations in Three Variables (SPLTV). This study aims to analyze the mathematical problem-solving ability of students based on Judging and Perceiving personality types. The research approach used is qualitative with a case study design. The subjects of the study consist of four students from the Tadris Mathematics program at IAIN Kerinci, selected based on the results of the MBTI test, consisting of two students with the Judging personality type and two with the Perceiving personality type. The research instruments include an SPLTV test and an interview guide, while data analysis techniques are carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that students with the Judging personality type tend to excel in planning and executing problem-solving strategies systematically but are less strong in evaluating results. Conversely, Perceiving students demonstrate flexibility in understanding problems and devising strategies but tend to lack in evaluative aspects and structured presentation. These findings emphasize that personality types play a role in shaping students' problem-solving patterns, suggesting the need for teaching strategies that consider the personality characteristics of each individual.

Abstract

Bahan ajar geometri yang ada saat ini kurang efektif dalam mendukung siswa dalam menemukan konten melalui tugas berbasis proyek ilmiah, juga tidak memasukkan nilai-nilai Islam ke dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi validitas bahan ajar geometri berbasis model Project-Based Learning (PjBL) yang dimodifikasi dan diintegrasikan dengan nilai-nilai Islam. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Research and Development (R&D) dengan menggunakan model 4-D yang terdiri dari empat tahap yaitu mendefinisikan, merancang, mengembangkan, dan menyebarluaskan. Instrumen validasi yang digunakan adalah angket yang menilai integrasi media, konten, dan nilai-nilai Islam. Analisis validitas dilakukan dengan menghitung rata-rata skor yang diberikan oleh validator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa materi dan media yang divalidasi oleh ahli pendidikan matematika memperoleh skor rata-rata 4,5 dengan kategori sangat valid. Selain itu, integrasi nilai-nilai keislaman memperoleh skor rata-rata 4,3 sehingga masuk dalam kategori valid. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa bahan ajar geometri berbasis model PjBL yang dimodifikasi dan mengandung nilai-nilai Islam, valid dan layak digunakan. The current geometry teaching materials do not effectively support students in discovering content through scientific project-based assignments, nor do they incorporate Islamic values into the learning process. This study aims to evaluate the validity of geometry teaching materials based on a modified Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model integrated with Islamic values. The research follows a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4-D model, consisting of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The validation instrument employed is a questionnaire, which assesses media, content, and Islamic value integration. The validity analysis was performed by calculating the average scores provided by the validators. The results indicate that the materials and media, as validated by mathematics education experts, achieved an average score of 4.5, categorizing them as highly valid. Additionally, the Islamic value integration received an average score of 4.3, placing it in the valid category. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the geometry teaching materials, which are based on a modified PjBL model and incorporate Islamic values, are valid and suitable for use.

Abstract

Abstrak Pembelajaran matematika masih belum sepenuhnya terintegrasi dengan Nilai-Nilai Keislaman. Padahal Matematika dan Islam memliki keterkaitan yang erat, sebagaimana terdapat dalam ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis praktikalitas Hipotetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) berbasis Ayat-Ayat Al-Qur’an pada pembelajaran konsep persamaan garis lurus. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode desain research yang terdiri dari tiga tahap: desain pendahuluan, percobaan desain, dan analisis retrospektif. Partisipan penelitian adalah 18 mahasiswa semester kedua Jurusan Tadris Matematika IAIN Kerinci. Instrumen penelitian meliputi angket, observasi, dan wawancara, yang telah divalidasi untuk memastikan kelayakannya dalam penelitian ini. Analisis data dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa desain HLT berbasis Ayat-Ayat Al-Qur’an dinyatakan praktis dengan skor 81% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi Nilai-Nilai Keislam dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa serta mendukung pengembangan model pembelajaran yang kontekstual. Abstract Mathematics learning is still not fully integrated with Islamic values. However, mathematics and Islam are inherently connected, as in Al-Qur'an verses. This research aims to analyze the practicality of Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) based on Al-Qur'an verses in teaching the concept of straight-line equations. This study is a design research type consisting of three stages: preliminary design, design experiment, and retrospective analysis. The research participants were 18 second-semester students of the Mathematics Education at IAIN Kerinci. Research instruments included questionnaires, observations, and interviews, which were validated to ensure their feasibility for this study. Data analysis combined qualitative and quantitative approaches. Results show that the HLT design based on Al-Qur'an verses on the concept of straight-line equations was declared practical by students at 81% in the very practical category. This implies that integrating Islamic values in mathematics learning can enhance students' understanding and support the development of contextually relevant learning models.

Abstract

The background of the problem in this research is the lack of students’ learning interest, the lack of visual learning media, the lack of encouragement from the environment to increase student learning objectives in learning Aqidah Akhlak. This research problem is: (1) whether there is an influence of the use of visual learning media on students’ learning interest; (2) how much influence the use of visual learning media has on student learning interest. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of visual media variabel (X) on learning interesrt (Y). In this study, data analysis used quantitative methods, namely by testing simple linear regression data instruments, and testing hypotheses data collection techniques using questionnaires by distributing questionaires to 7 respondents in class VII student of Mutiara Al-Madani middle school based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is a  positive and significant influence between the variable use of visual learning media on students’ learning interest in Aqidah Akhlak learning as evidenced by t count t table 3.409 2,571, while the magnitude of the influence between the use of visual learning media on student learning interest Aqidah Akhlak learning is 69,8%.
