Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of competence and motivation on employee performance, while also examining the moderating role of servant leadership. Competence and motivation are considered key drivers of improved performance; however, their effectiveness may vary depending on the leader-ship style adopted within the organization. This research employs a quantitative method using a survey approach targeting employees at BBPVP Semarang. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques. The findings reveal that competence has a positive and significant impact on employee performance, whereas motivation does not show a direct effect. Furthermore, servant leadership was found to weaken the relationship between competence and per-formance but strengthen the link between motivation and performance. This suggests that the more servant leadership is applied, the stronger the influence of motivation on employee performance. These findings offer practical implications for organizations to focus on competence development, enhancing employee motivation, and adopting a service-oriented leadership style to foster optimal performance.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of competence and work environment on employee performance at the Demak District Health Office, with organizational commitment as a mediating variable. Drawing on quantitative data collected from 51 employees through closed-ended questionnaires, the study employs multiple regression and Sobel tests to evaluate both direct and indirect relationships among variables. The results reveal that competence and work environment significantly and positively influence employee performance. However, neither competence nor work environment has a significant effect on organizational commitment. Moreover, organizational commitment does not significantly influence employee performance and fails to mediate the relationship between competence or work environment and performance. These findings suggest that while employee skills and a supportive work environment directly boost performance, organizational commitment does not play a substantial mediating role. One reason may be that commitment expressed by employees does not translate into active participation or productivity. Factors such as normative attachment and job security may explain high loyalty levels without corresponding performance impacts. The study contributes to human resource management theory by challenging the assumption that organizational commitment always enhances performance. Managerial implications highlight the importance of continuous training to enhance competence, improving work facilities, and designing incentive structures that go beyond fostering loyalty to promote actual performance outcomes. Limitations include a relatively small sample and reliance on self-reported data, which may introduce bias. Future research should explore other mediating factors that link workplace conditions and individual competencies to performance more effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of workload and job characteristics on job satisfaction and its impact on employee performance in the Central Java High Court. The study population includes all 154 employees, with 122 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 23. Validity, reliability, and model feasibility tests were conducted to ensure the quality of the data and analysis model. The results of the study indicate that well-structured workloads have a positive effect on job satisfaction. Job characteristics such as task variety, responsibility, and role clarity were also found to increase employee satisfaction. Additionally, workload and job characteristics have a direct and significant influence on performance improvement. Job satisfaction acts as a mediator that strengthens the relationship between workload and performance, as well as between job characteristics and performance. These findings emphasize the importance of managing a healthy and supportive work environment to create satisfied and high-performing employees. Non-technical factors such as perceptions of work are proven to play a significant role in shaping overall organizational performance.
