Abstract

The availability of essential medicines is one of the main indicators of healthcare service quality in primary health centers (Puskesmas). Inadequate medicine availability can hinder medical services and reduce public trust in healthcare facilities. Problems related to medicine availability are generally influenced by various aspects of the drug management cycle, ranging from planning to reporting. This study aimed to analyze the effect of drug management on the level of medicine availability in primary health centers in Central Sulawesi Province and to identify the most dominant influencing variables. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of all 219 primary health centers in Central Sulawesi Province, with a sample of 142 health centers selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to pharmaceutical personnel. The independent variables included planning, procurement, receiving, storage, distribution, and recording and reporting, while the dependent variable was medicine availability. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with the chi-square test, and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression at a significance level of 0.05.The bivariate analysis showed that all drug management variables were significantly associated with medicine availability (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed that planning (p = 0.006; Exp(B) = 1.366), procurement (p = 0.006; Exp(B) = 1.365), and distribution (p = 0.016; Exp(B) = 1.346) were significant predictors of medicine availability. The regression model demonstrated a Nagelkerke R Square value of 0.406, indicating that 40.6% of the variation in medicine availability could be explained by the variables included in the model. It can be concluded that strengthening data-based planning, improving procurement effectiveness, and ensuring timely and accurate distribution are key factors in enhancing medicine availability at primary health centers. Integrated logistics information systems and capacity building for pharmaceutical personnel are necessary to ensure sustainable medicine availability.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the leading global health challenges, with a high incidence of infection, widespread drug resistance, and significant morbidity, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Despite advancements in diagnostic tools, treatment regimens, and global policy support, adherence to TB medication remains a critical issue. This study aims to examine the factors influencing medication adherence among TB patients and assess the effectiveness of interventions designed to improve compliance. The research utilizes a literature review methodology, analyzing secondary data obtained from 15 journals and articles published between 2019 and 2024. The findings indicate that knowledge, family support, and healthcare access are key in improving TB treatment adherence. Integrating community-based interventions and educational programs has positively enhanced patient compliance. Additionally, addressing socio-economic factors such as poverty and inadequate healthcare access is essential in reducing TB incidence and preventing drug-resistant strains. The study emphasizes the importance of continuous monitoring, patient education, and support to ensure effective TB control and treatment. The results contribute to the development of targeted strategies for improving TB treatment adherence, particularly in regions with high TB burden.

Abstract

The national achievement of Complete Basic Immunization (CBI) in 2024 only reached 83.09%, failing to meet the Strategic Plan (Renstra) target of 100%. This shortfall reflects real barriers in protecting children against Vaccine-Preventable Diseases (PD3I). This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the administration of basic immunization in the working area of UPT Puskesmas Dombusoi. A quantitative study using a cross-sectional design was conducted with 76 maternal respondents. Data were analyzed using bivariate chi-square tests and multivariate multiple logistic regression. The bivariate test detected significant effects of maternal knowledge ( ), maternal attitude ( ), location/distance ( ), and family support ( ) on immunization status. However, multivariate testing demonstrated that all variables lost their partial significance ( ) due to strong interactions and overlaps among the variables in the field. The study concludes that knowledge, attitude, geographical access, and family support contribute simultaneously as a unified determinant of child immunization status. Consequently, Puskesmas Dombusoi must reformulate its intervention strategies by combining persuasive Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) with the optimization of mobile health posts (posyandu keliling) in hard-to-reach areas to achieve national coverage targets.

Abstract

Anemia in adolescent girls remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia, partly due to low adherence to consuming Iron Supplement Tablets (TTD). This study aims to analyze the effect of peer educator education on adherence to consuming TTD in adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 2 Sigi, Dolo District. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 388 female students divided into intervention (n=194) and control (n=194) groups. The intervention group received peer educator education, while the control group received standard education. Data were collected using questionnaires on knowledge, attitudes, practices, and the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8). Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test, Mann-Whitney U Test, and logistic regression. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge, attitudes, practices, and adherence to TTD consumption in the intervention group after peer educator education (p < 0.05). Comparison between the intervention and control groups showed significant differences, with peer educator education having a greater effect on improving adherence. This study concludes that peer educator education significantly improves adherence to consuming Iron Supplement Tablets in adolescent girls. Peer education approaches are recommended as an effective strategy for anemia prevention programs in schools.
