Abstract

Problem solving skills are an important foundation in understanding and applying mathematical concepts effectively. This ability is one of the main keys in developing a deep understanding of mathematical problem solving. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the application of the REACT (Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, and Transferring) learning model on students' mathematics problem solving skills. This quantitative research with a quasi-experiment applies a non-equivalent group design. This study involved students of class VIII MTsN 2 Enrekang. Data in the study were collected through a problem-solving ability-based learning outcomes test. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through an independent sample t-test. The results showed that REACT effectively improved students' mathematics problem solving skills in class VIII MTsN 2 Enrekang. Thus, the REACT learning model is feasible to enhance and develop students' mathematics problem solving skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang diajar menggunakan media macromedia flash dan powerpoint dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian quasi-eksperimental dan desain penelitian non equivalent control group. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Tanete Riaja yang terdiri dari 2 kelas, yaitu kelas VIII A dan VIII B. Pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu dengan teknik sampling jenuh dengan memilih keseluruhan populasi sebagai sampel penelitian. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes pemahaman konsep matematis. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis statistik inferensial. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Tanete Riaja dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray media macromedia flash berada pada kategori sangat tinggi sebanyak 51,8%, kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa pada kelas VIII SMPN 3 Tanete Riaja dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray media powerpoint berada pada kategori sangat tinggi sebanyak 48,1%, dan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray dengan media macromedia flash lebih efektif terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Tanete Riaja dibandingkan dengan penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray dengan media powerpoint.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of emotional qoutient (EQ) on students' mathematics learning outcomes. The type of research used is meta-analysis which is a quantitative research method. Data collection was carried out by searching for relevant articles according to the topic being studied on internet network sites such as Google Scholar, Research gate One Search, Open Knowledge Map, Search, and Microsoft Academic with the keyword influence of emotional quotient on students' mathematics learning outcomes. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. The samples analyzed are research reports that meet predetermined criteria. The instrument used is a coding sheet (coding data). Data analysis was carried out by looking for the effect size value using the summary effect formula. Based on the analysis carried out, it was found that there was an influence of emotional quotient on the mathematics learning outcomes of moderate students with an average effect size of 0.778 and was included in the category. Thus, educators or stakeholders in the world of education can design more holistic learning programs by including EQ aspects to increase the effectiveness of mathematics learning and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The use of the internet in schools has become essential to support teaching and learning activities, but issues such as uneven network distribution and suboptimal performance often arise. This study aims to address these problems by implementing Fiber Optic, UTP Cat 6, and Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) technologies to enhance the stability and speed of the school’s internet network. Using the Network Development Life Cycle (NDLC) method, which includes analysis, design, simulation, implementation, and monitoring phases, the study results showed a 30% increase in network throughput and a reduction in average latency by 15%. Additionally, the VLAN configuration successfully separated data traffic, improving the security and efficiency of the network. The network was able to support more than 1000 users with stable performance. In conclusion, the implementation of these technologies significantly optimized the school’s internet network and can serve as a technical guide for other schools seeking to improve their network quality.

Abstract

Violence against children continues to increase and needs the appropriate prevention for families who are vulnerable to get violence. This service research applied the treatment of the educational model in the form of Sikola Amma Bapa to the parents or caregivers to get positive parenting competencies. This research was conducted in Gowa Regency for six months, from March to August 2020, where 15 samples were selected with purposive sampling techniques. The data collection instrument used was a parenting competency scale, adapted from the Mindfulness in Parenting Questionnaire (MIPQ) by McCaffrey and was added by some specific parenting competency items based on the Sikola Amma Bapa module. Pre- and post-test data were evaluated using inferential analysis of paired sample t-tests. The results showed that the application of Sikola Amma Bapa became effective. The model can increase the competence of care for Islamic activists in assisting vulnerable families who get violent in the Gowa regency as proven by p = 0.000 (p 0.001). The data showed a very significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test; the average after-treatment (post-test value) is 143.6667, which is higher than the treatment (pre-test value) of 107.0067. Abstrak: Kekerasan pada anak terus mengalami peningkatan sehingga diperlukan pencegahan secara tepat yang menyasar keluarga yang rentan kekerasan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan perlakuan model pendidikan dalam bentuk Sikola Amma Bapa bagi orangtua/pengasuh agar membentuk kompetensi pengasuhan positif. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Gowa selama enam bulan dengan melibatkan sampel sebanyak 15 orang yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa skala kompetensi pengasuhan yang diadaptasi dari Mindfulness in Parenting Questionnaire (MIPQ) dari McCaffrey dengan menambahkan item kompetensi pengasuhan secara spesifik yang sesuai dengan modul Sikola Amma Bapa. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis inferensial paired sample t-test dengan bantuan komputerisasi. Hasil dalam penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan Sikola Amma Bapa dapat meningkatkan kompetensi pengasuhan pada aktivis Islam dalam mendampingi keluarga yang rentan kekerasan di Kabupaten Gowa. Hal itu dibuktikan dari nilai p = 0.000 (p < 0.001) menunjukkan ada perbedaan sangat signifikan nilai sebelum dan setelah perlakuan dimana rata-rata nilai setelah perlakuan sebesar 143,6667 lebih tinggi dibanding nilai sebelum perlakuan sebesar 107,0067.

Abstract

Disability is one of a person's physical and mental conditions that can inhibit normal daily activities. One of the disabilities that can be found in disability is speech without fingers. Persons with disabilities have obstacles in communicating with people around both verbally and in writing. Communication tools to help people with disabilities without finger fingers continue to be developed, one of them is by creating a virtual keyboard using a Leap Motion sensor. The hand gestures are captured using the Leap Motion sensor so that the direction of the hand gesture in the form of pitch, yaw, and roll is obtained. The direction values are grouped into normal, right, left, up, down, and rotating gestures to control the virtual keyboard. The amount of data used for gesture recognition in this study was 5400 data consisting of 3780 training data and 1620 test data. The results of data testing conducted using the Artificial Neural Network method obtained an accuracy value of 98.82%. This study also performed a virtual keyboard performance test directly by typing 20 types of characters conducted by 15 respondents three times. The average time needed by respondents in typing is 5.45 seconds per character.

Abstract

Facial expressions are a method to communicate if someone feels pain. Moreover, coding facial movements to assess pain requires extensive training and is time-consuming for clinical practice. In addition, in Covid 19 pandemic, it was difficult to determine this expression due to the mask on the face. There for, it needs to develop a system that can detect the pain from facial expressions when a person is wearing a mask. There are 41 points used to form 19 geometrical features. It used 20.000 frames of 24 respondents from the dataset as secondary data . From these data, training, and testing were carried out using the ANN (Artificial Neural Network) method with a variation of the number of neurons in the hidden layer, i.e., 5, 10, 15, and 20 neurons. The results obtained from testing these data are the highest accuracy of 86% with the number of 20 hidden layers.

Abstract

Purpose — This research analyzes the implementation of accountability in the context of smart cities, focusing on principles, components, monitoring mechanisms, implementation challenges, and improvement strategies. The aim is to understand the implementation of accountability comprehensively, address the research gap regarding integrated accountability frameworks, and provide insights to improve smart city governance through strengthening accountability. Poor accountability in smart city initiatives can lead to significant financial inefficiencies and misallocations of public resources. Design/methodology/approach — The research adopted a systematic literature review approach by searching for articles in six academic databases, including Scopus and Web of Science, using Boolean operators (AND, OR). The study selection process used inclusion and exclusion criteria, followed by data extraction, quality assessment using standardized evaluation criteria, synthesis using NVivo, and reporting according to PRISMA guidelines. Findings — 33 relevant studies were found. The most significant discoveries reveal that accountability principles include transparency, responsibility, justice, and sustainability. Financial dimensions of accountability mechanisms are particularly important in ensuring resource optimization. The main components are transparency, citizen participation, collaboration, data management, and security. Effective monitoring mechanisms were identified, such as technology-based supervision, public participation, and transparency. The findings demonstrate the importance of a comprehensive governance framework and prioritizing accountability. Non-technological factors, such as citizen participation and collaboration, are as important as technological aspects. Practical implications—The research provides specific recommendations for the government to apply the principle of accountability systematically, involve citizens, and utilize technology for transparency and monitoring. These governance frameworks can help mitigate financial risks in smart city projects by ensuring proper resource allocation and preventing mismanagement. The research provides comprehensive insights into smart city accountability. Originality/value — An important finding is the need for a governance framework that prioritizes accountability. Further studies are recommended to explore accountability practices in various contexts, develop practical guidelines, and investigate the role of new technologies in improving smart city accountability. Abstract

Crime of frauds are like an iceberg that always appears till the digital era (such First Travel case). In fact, it is a classic crime since (1915-1918) when ‘the Nederlandsch-Indie Criminal Code’ was enacted. Today, the criminal and penal statutes and their application reflected in Article 378 of the Criminal Code are considered to cause systematic injustice, loss, and suffering, especially for the victims. Then this article needs to be reformulated under the problem formulation "how to reformulate the crime of fraud in Article 378 of the Criminal Code based on restorative justice value?" which is considered more pro-Pancasila values and the victims. As literature research, various legal materials from primary, secondary and tertiary are analyzed descriptively qualitatively. At last, the researcher concludes that a restorative reformulation of crime of fraud in Article 378 of the Criminal Code can be done through a value and policy reorientation by embodying various basic assumptions and the concept of restorative justice in the new article formulation, either by enacting it as a ‘klachtdelict’, especially in the Criminal Code; or embodying restorative sanctions, such as compensation in the penal formulation of the Article. Saat ini, ketentuan hukum pidana dan acara pidana serta penerapannya, yang tercermin dalam Pasal 378 KUHP, dianggap telah menimbulkan ketidakadilan, kerugian, dan penderitaan yang sistematis, terutama bagi para korban. Maka pasal ini perlu dirumuskan kembali dengan rumusan masalah “bagaimana merumuskan kembali tindak pidana penipuan dalam Pasal 378 KUHP berdasarkan nilai keadilan restoratif?” yang dinilai lebih pro-Pancasila dan para korban. Sebagai penelitian kepustakaan, berbagai bahan hukum dari primer, sekunder dan tersier dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Akhirnya peneliti berkesimpulan bahwa reformulasi restoratif tindak pidana penipuan dalam Pasal 378 KUHP dapat dilakukan melalui reorientasi nilai dan kebijakan dengan mewujudkan berbagai asumsi dasar dan konsep restorative justice dalam rumusan pasal baru, baik dengan memberlakukan itu sebagai 'klachtdelict', khususnya dalam KUHP; atau mewujudkan sanksi restoratif, seperti kompensasi dalam rumusan pidana Pasal tersebut. Karena mengakui kerugian dan kebutuhan pelaku dan korban, persatuan dalam hubungan mereka, musyawarah - dialog dalam proses mereka, dan pengampunan - perdamaian dalam keputusan mereka sebagai bagian dari nilai-nilai keadilan restoratif bangsa Indonesia berdasarkan Pancasila.Kata Kunci: Reformulasi; Penipuan; Kebijakan; Restorative Justice

Abstract

This article explores the evolution of approaches in English language teaching, starting from traditional approaches, communicative approaches, and culminating in the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based approaches. Traditional approaches, which emphasize linguistic structures and forms, have proven insufficient in achieving the main goal of language education—enhancing students’ oral and written communication skills. As a response, the communicative approach emerged, focusing on meaningful language use in real contexts and centering learners as active participants in the learning process. Over time, the communicative approach has been enriched by the integration of AI, which offers personalization, interactivity, and efficiency through tools such as chatbots, virtual assistants, and automated evaluation systems. AI enables more adaptive learning, instant feedback, and a more authentic language learning experience. Nevertheless, integrating AI into language education also presents challenges, including technological accessibility gaps, the need for teacher training, and concerns regarding data ethics. This article concludes that a hybrid model combining communicative and AI-based approaches can create more effective and relevant English language instruction in the digital age, provided it is supported by inclusive educational policies and well-prepared human resources
