Abstract

Low Back Pain at Causa Piriformis Syndrome is a musculoskeletal disorder that causes pain in the fifth lumbar and first sacral areas that radiates to the feet and legs due to an abnormal neuromuscular condition of the piriformis muscle or compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve running below through the muscles. muscle. Low back pain itself is something that is common in patients so patients seek medical help, whereas piriformis syndrome is a case that is difficult to diagnose. Electrodiagnostic consultants are often asked to differentiate between piriformis syndrome and radiculopathy. Low back pain at causa piriformis syndrome is caused by activities carried out in the wrong way and carried out repeatedly as well as a lack of education which results in pain in the back and radiating to the legs. This case study aims to find the benefits of physiotherapy intervention in the form of manual therapy such as stretching of the postural muscles, myofascial release, dynamic muscle adaptation, contract relax of the piriformis muscle, hip traction, and physiological movements in the lumbar region and the piriformis muscle. The research method used is a case study. The respondent used was a 48 year old patient who was a housewife who had retired from office work. This research was conducted 8 times for one month. Patients were evaluated using a visual analog scale (VAS). The results of using intervention in the form of manual therapy show a reduction in pain in low back pain at causa piriformis syndrome from a pressure pain scale of 8 to 3, movement pain from 8 to 2 and silent pain from 2 to 1. In conclusion, providing manual therapy intervention has benefits in Reduces pain in the lower back and piriformis syndrome muscle.

Abstract

Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a disorder of the immature and developing brain that causes impaired movement, posture and muscle strength. Spastic type represents 70% of cerebral palsy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Neuro Developmental Treatment (NDT) on the patient's functional ability and the effect of Passive Stretching on reducing spasticity. The research method used in this study is single subject research involving a 3-year-old girl with a diagnosis of cerebral calsy spastic Diplegi. The interventions given were NDT and Passive Stretching. In this study, it was found that there was still no significant change in the level of muscle spasticity and gross motor with the condition of spastic diplegi cerebral palsy. In future research, the author hopes that this research will be conducted over a longer period of time to determine the effect of physiotherapy on children with a diagnosis of spastic diplegiate cerebral palsy.

Abstract

Cardiorespiratory endurance is one of the main aspects required in sports. Cardiorespiratory endurance is influenced by the function of cardiorespiratory system and body oxygenation system. Improving body oxygenation system is just as important as improving cardiorespiratory system to achieve a higher cardiorespiratory endurance. Performing a strenuous activity requires more oxygen to produce the energy. Ironically, our body adapts to a strenuous activity by increasing number of ventilation rate (hyperventilation), which leads to a decreased efficiency of body oxygenation process. Hyper-ventilation reduces carbon dioxide levels by exhaling more carbon dioxide instead of producing it. The carbon dioxide has a main role in maintaining acid-base balance. Altered pH balance causes less oxygen to be released into the tissues. Buteyko Breathing Technique is one of many breathing exercises aimed at improving body oxygenation system. It focuses on decreasing number of ventilation rate and increasing carbon dioxide levels to optimize body oxygenation process. The purpose of this research was to determine the effects of Buteyko Breathing Technique in improving cardiorespiratory endurance. 22 males aged 15-17 were involved to fulfill the objective of the study. This research used parametric test to analyze the data and to observe significant differences in VO2 max improvement between the two groups.

Abstract

The displacement of otoliths into the semicircular canals causes the most common type of peripheral vertigo, known as Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). This condition can disrupt balance and increase the risk of falls, especially when the head position changes suddenly. The purpose of this case report is to determine how effective the combination of Brandt-Daroff exercises and hydrotherapy is in improving balance in BPPV patients. A 69-year-old woman with vertigo underwent the Dix-Hallpike maneuver and an intervention consisting of Brandt-Daroff exercises and hydrotherapy twice weekly under supervision for six weeks. Balance evaluation was conducted before and after therapy using the M-CTSIB (for static balance) and TUG-T (for dynamic balance). Following the intervention, the TUG-T score decreased from 21.5 to 18, indicating improved mobility and patient response. The M-CTSIB score also increased significantly, particularly for eyes closed and unstable surfaces, from 15 to 22. Conditions without visual support also improved, indicating good vestibular adaptation. Patients reported no longer experiencing vertigo when changing positions and being able to engage in activities without fear of falling. These results suggest that Brandt-Daroff exercises and hydrotherapy can serve as non-pharmacological methods to improve balance and quality of life for patients with BPPV.

Abstract

Introduction: Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP) pada lansia sering menyebabkan penurunan fungsi dan kualitas hidup. Management and Outcome: Subjek diberikan kombinasi intervensi fisioterapi berupa Microwave Diathermy (MWD), Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), dan Core Stability Exercise (CSE) seperti hamstring stretch, piriformis stretch, iliopsoas stretch, tensor fasciae latae stretch, erector spine stretch diberikan 2x dalam seminggu selebihnya dilakukan dirumah.
