Abstract

Implementing eco-efficiency in the batik industry is important considering the currently developing environmental problems. In order to realize a sustainable batik industry with green performance, an analysis was carried out on the level of acceptance of applicable government regulations in order to change towards an independent green industry. In line with the research objective, it is to analyze the level of income of the batik industry regarding the implementation of government regulations relating to the green industry through the application of eco-efficiency in order to measure green performance in the batik industry. Through a survey method carried out on all batik industries by taking random samples from 500 batik industries in Pekalongan City. The research results show that for all respondents' answers to each question item, the results obtained were an average of 66.25% of batik industry players who had accepted the existence of a green industrial policy for the batik industry in accordance with the regulations stipulated in PERMENPERIN No. 10 of 2023. It appears as supporting data that results show that 60% of batik business actors also received training for the batik industry which has not received the title as a green industry.

Abstract

Abstract

The presence of natural colorants in the batch industry supports efforts to create sustainable products. However, the disadvantage of natural coloring substance is that tissue fibers generally have a low affinity to the pigment components, so the natural colorant is easily flourishing. This fact is based on exploring natural coloring substances and the type of fixator of the corresponding natural coloring substance. In addition to strengthening the absorption of color substances into the fiber, the fixator also serves to know the direction of color produced by the natural coloring substance. In testing, fixers are used that contain metals present in voltaic series. The object of the study is to described the color characteristics produced by natural dyeing substances (secang and tegeran woods) on various types of fixers that are included in the voltaic series. Color quality is assessed from 3 aspects i.e. color intensity parameters visually, color resistance with grey scale and color direction with website coolors.co. In general, the secang wood produces the pink color (warm category) while the tegeran wood color is yellow (vintage category). There is a regular sequence of the color concentration of the fabric achieved by each voltaic series metal used as a fixer. If the metal is applied as a fixer to the natural coloring material, the stronger oxidative properties of a metal on the voltaic series, the older the resulting color will be.

Abstract

This study aims to provide education on batik dyeing, specifically focusing on the colors produced by natural dyes. It employs an experimental approach to evaluate the effectiveness of various fixatives in dyeing cotton fabric with natural dye from secang wood. Conducted in a laboratory, the research involves dyeing cotton fabric with natural dye from coconut husk and testing three types of fixatives: alum, tannin, and lime. Data were collected through visual observation of color intensity, color fastness testing using grey scale, and color direction analysis with Coloor.co. The variables tested include the type of fixative (independent variable) and color quality (intensity, color fastness, color direction) as dependent variables. Control variables include dye concentration, sample volume, and measurement conditions. Analysis results show that natural dye from coconut husk produces a brownish color. Batik production with natural dye from coconut husk yields a consistent color sequence: light brown with alum as the fixative, slight color change with lime as the second fixative, and the darkest color with tannin as the fixative. These colors fall into the warm and vintage categories according to the Coloors.co application, both before and after washing.
