Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women is still one of the national problems because it reflects the value of the socio-economic welfare of the community. It also has large influence on the quality of human resources. Anemia of pregnancy is called 'potential danger to mother and child', and thereby anemia requires attention from all parties involved in health services at the forefront. This descriptive analytic study used a cross-sectional design, with a total sample of 40 anemic pregnant women. This study used a purposive sampling method. It was conducted in the working area of the Puskesmas Danau Panggang. The variables observed in this study were energy and protein consumption levels in anemic pregnant women. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. The results showed that the energy consumption level of anemic pregnant women was mostly in the severe deficit category, namely 95% (38) of anemic pregnant women. Based on this number, most of them (i.e., 58% or 22 anemic pregnant women) had the energy consumption level between 30% and 49% RDA. Meanwhile, the level of protein consumption of most anemic pregnant women was in the severe deficit category, i.e., 87,5% (35) anemic pregnant women. Based on this number, the majority, namely 60% (21) pregnant women with anemia, Most of anemic pregnant women (60% or 21 women) had the protein consumption level between 30% and 49% of the RDA.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relation of mothers’ nutrition knowledge and attitudes and dietary patterns of children under five to the incidence of stunting among children under five in the working area of Puskemas Guntung Manggis. This study used a case-control design. It was conducted from January to August 2021. A total of 58 children under five and their mothers (29 children and their mothers in the case group and 29 in the control group) participated in this study. The data were collected through interviews using questionnaires. The data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Mothers’ nutrition knowledge had a significant association (p=0,002) with the incidence of stunting in children under five. Mothers with low nutrition knowledge had 8,089 times higher risks (95% CI: 1,996-32,787) of having stunted children. Mothers’ nutrition attitudes (p=0,313) and dietary patterns of children under five consisting of consumption frequency of staple foods (p=0,792), fat sources (p=0,793), protein sources (p=0,430), vegetables (p=0,293), and fruits (p=0,793) had no significant relationships with the incidence of stunting in children under five. It can be concluded that mothers’ nutrition knowledge was associated with the incidence of stunting in children under five in the working area of Puskesmas Guntung Manggis.

Abstract

Masyarakat saat ini, khususnya remaja, lebih sering mengkonsumsi makanan cepat saji, makanan dan minuman yang mengandung kadar gula yang tinggi dan lemak dengan kuantitas berlebih, serta kurang mengkonsumsi buah dan sayur. Prevalensi penduduk Kalimantan Selatan berusia ≥5 tahun yang mengkonsumsi buah atau sayur sesuai anjuran lebih rendah dari prevalensi nasional, yaitu sebesar 1,9%. Prevalensi konsumsi buah dan sayur sesuai anjuran di Kota Banjarbaru (0,61%) termasuk peringkat ketiga terendah di Kalimantan Selatan. Konsumsi buah dan sayur para siswa di SMA Darul Hijrah Putri masih kurang dan mereka cenderung membeli jajanan yang kurang sehat. Salah satu faktor penyebab masalah ini adalah kurangnya pengetahuan terkait konsumsi buah dan sayur. Edukasi gizi TIKAS ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan remaja tentang pentingnya konsumsi buah dan sayur sehingga jumlah buah dan sayur yang mereka konsumsi meningkat hingga mencapai batas yang dianjurkan (400-600 g/hari). Kegiatan ini dilakukan di SMA Darul Hijrah Putri, Kota Banjarbaru, pada 20 Agustus 2022. Sebanyak 16 siswa SMA kelas XII berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan ini. Penyuluhan dilakukan melalui ceramah menggunakan slide power point dan leaflet. Peningkatan pengetahuan peserta dievaluasi dengan cara membandingkan hasil jawaban siswa terhadap kuesioner berupa pertanyaan tertutup yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Persentase siswa dengan pengetahuan baik meningkat, dari 0,00% sebelum penyuluhan menjadi 75% (12 siswa) setelah penyuluhan. Persentase siswa dengan pengetahuan yang tergolong cukup meningkat, dari 6,25% (1 siswa) sebelum penyuluhan menjadi 25% (4 siswa) setelah penyuluhan. Selain itu, tidak ada siswa yang memiliki pengetahuan kurang setelah diberikan penyuluhan. Hasil uji t berpasangan menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan siswa sebelum penyuluhan berbeda signifikan dengan sesudah penyuluhan. Rata-rata skor pengetahuan meningkat sebesar 41,88%, dari 40,00% sebelum penyuluhan menjadi 81,88% setelah penyuluhan.People nowadays, especially adolescents, consume fast food, food and drinks containing high sugar and excessive fat more often and hardly consume fruits and vegetables. The prevalence of people in South Kalimantan aged ≥5 years who consume fruits or vegetables according to the recommendation was lower than the national prevalence, i.e., 1.9%. The prevalence of fruit and vegetable consumption as recommended in Banjarbaru City (0.61%) was the third lowest in South Kalimantan. Fruit and vegetable consumption of students in SMA Darul Hijrah Putri was still low, and they tended to buy unhealthy snacks. One of the factors causing the problem is low knowledge about fruit and vegetable consumption. TIKAS nutrition education aimed to increase adolescents’ knowledge regarding the importance of fruit and vegetable consumption, thereby improving the quantity consumed to reach the recommended threshold (400-600 g/day). This activity was conducted in Darul Hijrah Putri Senior High School, Banjarbaru City, on August 20, 2022. A total of 16 students in the 12th grade participated in this activity. The counselling was performed through lectures using PowerPoint slides and leaflets. The increase in students’ knowledge was evaluated by comparing the results of students’ answers to the questionnaires given before and after education. The percentage of students with good knowledge increased from 0.00% before counselling to 75% (12 students) after counselling. The percentage of students with sufficient knowledge increased from 6.25% (1 student) before counselling to 25% (4 students) after counselling. Besides, none of the students belonged to the low knowledge category after counselling. Paired sample t-test results showed that students’ knowledge before nutrition education significantly differed from their knowledge after it. The mean knowledge score improved as much as 41,88%, from 40,00% before education to 81,88% after education.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Pregnant women are a nutritionally vulnerable group that requires adequate nutrition for the health of the mother and fetus. Efforts to increase the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women about nutrition and food safety can be done through counselling. Objective: This study aims to find out the effectiveness of counselling to increase the knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women regarding nutrition and food safety. Method: The research method used was quasi-experimental. The sample is pregnant women in the Landasan Ulin area, Banjarbaru with as many as 30 respondents. The research was conducted from March to December 2022. Data was collected by interview using a questionnaire. Variable measurements were carried out before and after counselling. Data were analyzed statistically by t test, at significance α=0.05. Result: There are significant differences in the value of knowledge and attitude values before and after counselling. A significant increase in knowledge was found on 4 knowledge items, namely about a balanced menu, sources of vitamins, separating raw and cooked equipment, and substitute foods. Over all there is an increase in the value of the attitude before and after counselling. Conclusion: There are significant differences in knowledge and attitudes about nutrition and food safety before and after counselling which shows a positive effect on pregnant women. Keywords: Counselling, Knowledge, Attitudes, Nutrition, Food Safety   Abstrak Latar belakang: Ibu hamil merupakan kelompok rawan gizi yang memerlukan gizi cukup untuk kesehatan ibu dan janinnya. Upaya peningkatan pengetahuan dan sikap ibu hamil tentang gizi dan keamanan pangan salah satunya dapat dilakukan dengan konseling. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis efektivitas konseling terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan dan sikap ibu hamil tentang gizi dan keamanan pangan. Metode: Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen, dengan desian one group pre-test and post-test. Sampel adalah ibu hamil di wilayah Landasan Ulin, Banjarbaru sebanyak 30 responden. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret – Desember 2022. Data dikumpulkan dengan wawancara menggunakan kuesioner. pengukuran pengetahuan dan sikap dilakukan 2 kali yaitu sebelum dan sesudah konseling dengan rentang waktu 10 hari. Data dianalisis secara statistik dengan uji t berpasangan (paired t-test), pada kemaknaan α=0.05. Hasil: Terdapat perbedaan signifikan nilai pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah konseling (nilai p=0,001). Terdapat perbedaan signifikan nilai sikap sebelum dan sesudah konseling (nilai p=0,000). Ditemukan peningkatan pengetahuan secara signifikan pada 4 item pengetahuan yaitu tentang menu seimbang, sumber vitamin, memisahkan peralatan mentah dan matang, dan makanan pengganti. Secara keseluruhan terdapat peningkatan nilai sikap dari sebelum dan sesudah konseling. Kesimpulan: Terdapat perbedaan signifikan pengetahuan dan sikap tentang gizi dan keamanan pangan sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan konseling yang menunjukan pengaruh positif pada ibu hamil. Petugas kesehatan disarankan memberikan konseling rutin dengan beragam media yang mudah dipahami. Kata kunci: Konseling, Pengetahuan, Sikap, Gizi, Keamanan Pangan

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a condition of failure to thrive in children due to cronic nutritional deficiencies from inadequate complementary feeding. Local food is commonly consumed by local people in accordance with the condition of the potential resources and local wisdom of the area. The purposes this study to determine the acceptability and nutritional value (energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin A, calcium, iron, and zinc) of complementary feeding made from local food. Method: The type of research was an experimental by making 15 recipes complementary feeding. The nutritional value was tested using the software nutrisurvey 2007 and TKPI 2017 and the acceptability was assessed using the food weighing method on 90 panelist. Results: Complementary feeding with good acceptability were Tilapia Potato Porridge (6-8 months), Purple Sweet Potato Shepherd Pie (9-11 months), and Striped Snakehead Purple Sweet Potato Cakes (12-23 months). The complementary feeding menus in this study were able to meet the RDA (energy, protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamin C, calcium, and zinc) but breats milk and snack still had to be given to under-two children. Conclusion: Children under-two years old tend to like snack-like foods and sweet-flavored complementary feeding.

Abstract

Stunting is a persistent nutritional issue in children that may begin during pregnancy, leading to impaired growth and resulting in a child's height being lower than expected for their age (dwarfism) (Izwardy, 2020). Stunting is a health concern demanding immediate attention, as emphasized by the Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 72 of 2021. In Indonesia, stunting in children under five years old poses a substantial public health challenge. This research aims to establish the correlation between determinant factors, including the history of pregnant mothers experiencing chronic energy deficiency (CED), pregnant mothers with anemia, infants born with low birth weight (LBW), and the history of exclusive breastfeeding, with the occurrence of stunting in children aged 24-59 months in the operational area of Edison Jaar Community Health Center. This correlational descriptive study adopts a case-control research design. The sample, comprising 106 participants, was selected using purposive sampling, with 53 cases and 53 controls. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test.The findings revealed that a history of pregnant mothers with CED (p=0.000, OR=6.006, 95% CI=2.191-16.464), a history of pregnant mothers with anemia (p=0.002, OR=4.655, 95% CI=1.843-11.755), a history of babies born with LBW (p=0.000, OR=5.867, 95% CI=2.245-2.915), and a history of exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.000, OR=33.683, 95% CI=11.287-100.522) were associated with stunting in children aged 24-59 months. It is crucial to enhance promotion, education, and health interventions that emphasize the significance of caregiving during the first 1000 days of life for both mothers and children. Improved coordination and advocacy across sectors are also essential to enhance maternal and child health services, addressing risk factors contributing to stunting in toddlers.   ABSTRAK Stunting adalah masalah kurang gizi pada anak yang berlangsung lama yang menyebabkan gangguan pertumbuhan anak yaitu tinggi badan anak lebih rendah dari usianya (kerdil) (Izwardy, 2020). Stunting merupakan masalah kesehatan yang perlu segera diatasi (Peraturan Presiden Republik Indonesia Nomor 72 Tahun 2021).Stunting pada anak di bawah lima tahun adalah masalah kesehatan masyarakat yang serius di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara faktor determinan, seperti riwayat ibu hamil kekurangan energi kronis (KEK), riwayat ibu hamil anemia, riwayat bayi berat badan lahir rendah (BBLR), dan riwayat pemberian ASI eksklusif dengan kejadian stunting pada anak usia 24-59 bulan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Edison Jaar. Penelitian deskriptif korelatif ini menggunakan desain penelitian case control (kasus dan kontrol). Sampel dalam penelitian ini dipilih menggunakan metode purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 106 yang kemudian dibagi menjadi 53 sampel sebagai kasus dan 53 sampel sebagai kontrol. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji chi-square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa riwayat ibu hamil dengan KEK (p=0,000, OR=6,006, 95% CI=2,191-16,464), riwayat ibu hamil dengan anemia (p=0,002, OR=4,655, 95% CI=1,843-11,755), riwayat bayi lahir dengan BBLR (p=0,000, OR=5,867, 95% CI=2,245-2,915), dan riwayat pemberian ASI eksklusif (p=0,000, OR=33,683, 95% CI=11,287-100,522) berhubungan dengan kejadian stunting pada anak usia 24-59 bulan. Promosi, edukasi dan intervensi kesehatan mengenai pentingnya pola asuh dalam 1000 hari pertama kehidupan pada ibu dan anak perlu ditingkatkan. Koordinasi dan advokasi dengan lintas sektor juga perlu diperbaiki untuk meningkatkan pelayanan di bidang kesehatan ibu dan anak agar dapat menangani faktor risiko yang dapat menyebabkan kejadian stunting pada balita.

Abstract

People’s low participation level in Posyandu activities still becomes one of the problems at Puskesmas in Banjarbaru. It can be observed from the D/S achievements that were still lower than the target set by the Puskesmas. D/S achievement at the Puskesmas Landasan Ulin (58.4%) in 2021 was still far from the target (90%). This study aimed to analyze the relation of mothers’ participation level in Posyandu activities to mothers’ nutritional knowledge and nutritional status of children under five. This observational study used a cross-sectional design involving 95 pairs of children under five and their mothers selected by the purposive sampling technique. This study was conducted from November to December 2022. The mothers’ participation level in Posyandu activities was assessed using questionnaires and the nutritional status of under-fives was determined using anthropometric measurements. The data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that mothers’ participation level in Posyandu activities was associated with mothers’ nutritional knowledge (p=0.022; r=-0.234) but not associated to the nutritional status of children under five based on the WAZ index (p=0.888).   ABSTRAK Tingkat partisipasi masyarakat dalam kegiatan Posyandu yang rendah masih menjadi salah satu masalah gizi di Puskesmas-Puskesmas Kota Banjarbaru. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari capaian D/S yang masih kurang dari target yang ditentukan oleh Puskesmas. Capaian D/S di Puskesmas Landasan Ulin (58,4%) pada tahun 2021 masih jauh dari target yang ditetapkan oleh Puskesmas tersebut (90%). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara tingkat partisipasi ibu dalam kegiatan Posyandu dengan pengetahuan gizi ibu dan status gizi balita. Penelitian observasional ini menggunakan desain cross-sectional yang melibatkan 95 pasang balita dengan ibunya yang diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini dilakukan dari bulan Oktober hingga Desember 2022. Tingkat partipasi ibu dalam kegiatan Posyandu diperoleh menggunakan kuesioner dan status gizi balita ditentukan melalui pengukuran antropometri. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Spearman Rank. Tingkat partisipasi ibu dalam kegiatan Posyandu berhubungan signifikan (p=0,022; r=-0,234) dengan pengetahuan gizi ibu tetapi tidak berhubungan dengan status gizi balita berdasarkan indeks BB/U (p=0,888).

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic condition that describes stunted growth due to long-term malnutrition. Stunting is defined as a length for age Z score (LAZ) less than -2 SD. This study aimed to analyze the relation of family income and intake of micronutrients to the incidence of stunting in children under two years in North Landasan Ulin Village. This analytic observational study used a case control design. The research samples were 26 children under two years in the case group (stunting) and 26 children under two year in the control group (not stunted) taken using a purposive sampling technique. Length data were measured using an infantometer, family income was assessed through interviews and questionnaires, intake of micronutrients were collected using a 3x24 hour food recall. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results of this study indicated that family income (p=0.155) and intake of vitamin A (p=0.182) were not associated with the incidence of stunting in children under two years, whereas intake of iron (p=0.001) and zinc (p=0.001) were associated with the incidence of stunting in children under two years. Stunting can be prevented with sufficient intake of iron and zinc as needed, and the allocation of family income and vitamin A must also be considered.
