Abstract

The needs of employees in their work are driven by the need for a safe, comfortable, and peaceful work environment to achieve maximum productivity. Productivity in the production activities at the PT. Eka Karya Sinergi production unit, which mainly produces lightweight steel products, is not yet optimal. Several factors can affect the productivity of workers at PT. Eka Karya Sinergi, including a less structured work system, ranging from occupational health and safety levels, work management, worker fatigue levels during the work processes, and complaints experienced by the workers. This research aims to improve the work system to enhance occupational health and safety as well as company productivity through a participatory ergonomics approach. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach. The occupational health and safety conditions were measured using two instruments, namely REBA and GOTRAK. The participatory ergonomics process was carried out through discussions using Focus Group Discussions. The results of the research show that through the improvement of the work system using the participatory ergonomics method, ergonomic hazards that were previously categorized as high-risk have been reduced to a safer category. This is evidenced by the process of assembling finished goods through the provision of new chairs, which resulted in a risk reduction of 12 points in the SNI 9011 score and 7 points in the REBA score. Furthermore, the improvement of work posture in the process of pumping handling coils with a handstaker resulted in a risk reduction of 4 points in the SNI 9011 score and 5 points in the REBA score. Additionally, the addition of a helper in the process of handling coil materials to the uncoiler machine can reduce the risk by 3 points in the SNI 9011 score and 5 points in the REBA score.

Abstract

PT Adyawinsa Stamping Industries (ASI) is one of the automotive industry companies operating during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, there are government policies that companies need to follow to continue operating safely. Policies related to COVID-19 need to be implemented in conjunction with the company's Occupational Safety and Health (K3). Based on interviews conducted with company representatives, an evaluation is required in order to find out the implementation of policies related to COVID-19 in line with K3 in the Welding Department. Initial observations are carried out to determine the actual conditions and identify operational activities. K3 evaluation is carried out by applying the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method to determine the potential hazards. The results of the FMEA evaluation provide a series of hazard priorities and potential dangers that guide the design of improvement proposals. The proposal's design was implemented using the Participatory Ergonomics (PE) method involving several stakeholders. The improvement proposal is the result of identifying the needs of the Welding Department workers based on discussions conducted through the PE method. The discussion resulted in a proposed design in the form of reviewing and controlling SOPs and conditions in the field, implementing periodic safety training, and installing instruments to remind workers of K3 in operational activities. The instruments designed in the study are several infographic materials regarding implementing K3 and COVID-19 prevention in the workplace.

Abstract

People in this era have various needs in carrying out life. The needs that need to be used by the community have multiple kinds of things, such as clothing. Clothes used by the community go through various processes before becoming finished goods. Before becoming ready-to-wear, clothes came from raw materials such as fabric rolls. There are multiple production processes, such as yarn, fabric, chemical dyeing, etc. One of the places where fabrics are produced is textile factories. A textile factory is a company that produces products in the form of fabrics. The manufacture of fabrics that occur in textile factories must involve mixing chemicals so that the fabric has good quality. The process of mixing these chemical substances involves workers, and the chemical substances used are classified as Hazardous and Toxic Materials (B3), so these chemicals can have a bad impact on their workers if there is physical contact with the worker's body. Exposure to chemicals in the worker's body will cause a risk of developing Occupational Diseases (PAK). Therefore, in this study, data will be processed to prevent workers' risk of Occupational Diseases (PAK) using the HIRADC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Determining Control) method. The proposal given in this study is a proposal for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for preventive measures against Occupational Diseases (PAK) for workers

Abstract

This industry consists of companies engaged in metal processing and workmanship. Companies often receive complaints from employees concerning pain or discomfort in their bodies, causing diseases such as low back pain and myalgia. The risk of accidents occurring at work is inseparable from the work done. Work-related accidents can occur due to several factors, including unsafe action. One cause of unsafe actions can be found in various unsafe work postures that workers assume. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the posture of these workers so that it can improve their safety and health. This research was conducted by identifying occupational risks workers face and examining work performed in stamping products. The production section consists of six stations: material handling, stamping, welding, hemming, painting, and packing. The work risks run by workers have been identified using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire and interview methods. As for the identification of the type of work carried out by evaluating work postures, the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method has been employed. The risk level of accidents is also used for the selection of activities to be improved to minimize the level of injury risk caused by work postures that have been assumed, and in order to improve the safety and health of the workers. Improvements made are in engineering, such as manufacturing of assistive devices, and management engineering, such as providing directions that can improve the specific work posture used. Calculations are based on simulations performed with tools conducted with suggested postures by evaluation using the REBA method. Based on the results of REBA calculations, the resulting risk is lower than the one caused by the previously assumed posture, namely medium and low.

Abstract

PT. Adyawinsa Stamping Industry is one of the automotive companies in Karawang, West Java. In the production process, most of the work has poor posture, which can cause VascularDisorders (MSDs). In the process of eliminating and reducing the risk of MSDs in the workplace, the level of MSD risk experienced by workers is calculated using the REBA method. The results of the REBA calculation obtained several activities with values above 9 (meaning that an improvement is needed). To improve the work system using the Participatory ergonomic (PE) method involving the operator, management and ergonomics. The results of the application of PE in helping to reduce the risk level of MSDs are engineering (making auxiliary tools and also management engineering) that can improve the work posture used, namely using the REBA method. Based on the results of the REBA calculation after the improvement, the risk generated is a risk level smaller than the previous posture, namely medium and low. Real improvements are hoped to create a safe, comfortable, and productive workplace.
